Quoting 'PeachyPearL' The man who arrived with a board saying, "You are my friends, I will keep watch while you pray". It's hard to find the beauty in a moment of horror too much of the time but damn if I couldn't, I think I'd give up. Apparently, most of the biker clubs are offering the same, including Mongrel Mob & Black Power

On Sammy J's Playground tonight (ABC), talking about the monsters people imagine, and how their reaction to them causes hate and fear. Turning on the light reveals the monsters are imagined, and therefore can't be feared. A sensitive and relevant piece, reflecting on last Friday's terrible events. 💛

After NZ tragedy, there will be increased security in mosques and prayer rooms around Australia. Which in my eyes is a good thing. All this racial crap against Muslim's going on is terrible. A very very close family member of mine is a converted Muslim and married a lovely Muslim man. The amount of times she has been (in public) been spat on, verbally abused and even tried to be run over by a vehicle (with children in it) and was yelled "go back to own country", is disgusting! I have to laugh tho, she was born and raised here Australia, with a mummy with Italian heritage background. 😊 Ms Foxy

There is a State election here in N.S.W. today, and it looks like being a lot closer than people thought it might be. I've leaned toward the right side of politics all my life, that is, until recently. I just can't in good conscience do that at present, on a State or Federal level. I pointed out my thoughts on Morrison in the Coffee Shop thread when he interestingly, became, what is and will remain, our 25th longest serving Prime Minister. It is interesting that the State Government here have gone to such great lengths to create so many, yet to be completed, vanity projects, usually with Very limited community consultation and disregard for most objections. There are so many worthy and much needed areas to spend the public purse, yet there seems to be a let's construct a vanity project mind-set. It's disappointing. Last night I was watching a re-run of The Drum or 7:30 Report in the middle of the night and this very thing was discussed, re the building site of a new Tweed Heads Hospital. Everyone agrees there needs to be one, heck, I remember being taken there by ambulance and then shoved in a storage room, as they had run out of space in the E.D. elsewhere. It's the we will do what we want, where we want, in a way we want, regardless, attitude that's the problem. Look at George Street and the bloody light rail project, speak to some businesses there. And as for the stadiums......... Vanity, a scary thing. .. Mr. urn. .

I got a cortisone shot during the week. It HURT! I'm pretty sure I actually felt the fluid leave the needle and enter my body. 3 days later my shoulder feels bruised. Go back to Dr tomorrow. Don't think I'll get another one. If I had known I would get constant headaches/migraines and the shakes from it, I would not have got it. Anyone else experiences side effects from cortisone shot (headaches, side etc)?? Ms Foxy

Thanks for asking. The tooth got pulled in January, the lat session was a bone graft and the 'root' for the implant, the healing is a little slow but hopefully the dentist will be happy with it at tomorrow's check up, by June or July it should be all finished...YAY

Bloody hell Mojo., that's some serious shit. Sounds like you're through the more difficult end of it, hope it heals up well and the implant works. .. Ms Foxy, sorry to hear you have had a few early problems, post injection. I had a cortisone injection three decades ago. I don't recollect having any side effects. It did provide Some relief, for a short while, weeks I'm talking about, in that specific area. Speak to your health care team about problems obviously. The trick, is in getting them to hear what you're saying. .. Mr b., as men, we tend to often place significant life definition and importance, on our cock. It's so tied up with our masculinity. As teenagers we measure it, and worry that somewhere there might be someone with a bigger one. We play with it, we play hard, we're competitive, even against ourselves. We never really think, something might go wrong. Like any injury and in your case, surgery too, the important thing is a careful recovery, filled with patience. .. Mr. urn. .

If anyone has any suggestions on how to deal with a neighbour who regularly plays very loud music, then when we put noise complaints in to the police he throws rocks at our house, I'd be happy to hear them. Approaching him not an option, that's been done and he got aggressive.

Quoting 'MrMojoRisin' If you can access the meter box switch the power off and rip the fuses out.Followed by a rapid decamping in an appropriate direction... done that with a neigbour for the very same reason (loud music, not rock throwing). Also turned off the water meter during the dark of night so that he would not have any water in the morning, plus either have a cold shower to start off with or have to wait until the water heater came back on the boil. But eventually he moved because quite a lot of the neghbours all around continuously complained to the police.
-

I'm not going anywhere near him, he's obviously a loose canon. He's doing it because of our complaints about his music. The music is one thing, this rock throwing shit is something else and I'm worried about what else he might do.

also can you find out if he is a renter or owner ,maybe complain to the landlord if you can find out who it is ,if you can’t possibly write a fake letter from the landlord threatening eviction if the complaints and noise continue ,i’m sure you could do a convincing letter 😉
-

Nah I don't know anyone here that looks remotely threatening, and I already looked into the rental / owner thing and he owns the place so there's no options there. Police can't do anything unless he actually damages something or someone sees him doing it (he always does it at night, we suspect when he's drunk). Seems that we just have to put up with it.

-
RHP User
It might be too late for this now but I would suggest trying to befriend him, or at least don't make him feel that you look down on him. Of course now he has threatened and generally been a dick to you this might be untenable. Often these anti-social types feel rejected and looked down on by society and this is their retaliation, if you treat them with kindness and respect their rights to live their life how they want to without judging, they will often do the same. For example when you explain you have work early (or whatever) and that their music is keeping you up they might then just be kind enough to turn it down. Getting angry and making demands or threats is playing their game. They enjoy it and, in their world, they definitely can't be seen to be backing down. If you somehow call in the heavies (this is way easier in movies than real life) and force them to back down you've humiliated them and you will get the blow back from that, probably surreptitiously. Involving bikies is possibly the worst thing to do, these people are generally not nice at all and are likely worse than your neighbor. You never want to owe them a favour and if you were paying them to protect you from your neighbour you'll probably find yourself the victim of a protection racket. My suggestion is get a couple poweraids/gatoraids (blue and red), keep them cold in the fridge and next time they have a big night take them over the next day (once they're up) and say with a knowing smile that you thought they might need these after the night they had. Try be nice and engage them as people for a while, then start asking them to live their lives a little differently to suit yours. If this fails, working with the police or moving house are your next best options imho.
-

Have you looked into the local council rules to see if there is any bylaws he is breaching? Other than that, what about other neighbours, have they put in similar complaints? Can you all band together and request a meeting with police or council and the noisy neighbour to address the issue? Safety in numbers approach 😁

I am a member of a bike club and no way in hell do we owe each other any "favours". My Deepestpurple, I find your post regarding bikies a bit over the top and insensitive as they (bike groups) should not be "ALL" placed in one basket. There are plenty of bike groups out there that do good in the community. I know because cause each year, I am involved in a yearly charity bike run for men's cancer. They owe me nothing for doing it and I owe them nothing. We do because we want and choose too. Many other bike groups do blanket runs prior winter and of course the Christmas children's appeal. They are not thungs and most of the ones I know do not get involved in "hit men" crap or get involved in other people's neighbourly disputes/whinges over loud music. Just making that very clear. Ms Foxy
-

I was not considering getting any bikies involved, and to make it clear this is not just about loud music. We are legitimately concerned about the safety of our property and ourselves, so I'd appreciate it if you didn't minimise that thank you.

Yes, I did not mean to imply that all people involved in motorcycle clubs are bad people. My apologies to anyone I have offended by that. You said it yourself, those are not the type of people to get involved in this type of thing so are not the type of people I was talking about.

Approaching him not an option, that's been done and he got aggressive. No, not for that . I had neighbours up the road a bit always played loud music until early hours of the morning. I started the chainsaw up 6:30am the following morning once & revved the shit out of it. Think they had hang overs as I never had a problem after that.

Can you all band together and request a meeting with police or council and the noisy neighbour to address the issue? Safety in numbers approach 😁 The music is police jurisdiction and the rock throwing isn't anything the council would be able to get involved in as far as I'm aware. The neighbours at the sides of us haven't complained, one wouldn't care about it (we've had problems with them over the years as well), and the other is an older woman living on her own and although the music does bother her I think she might be too scared to complain. Not sure about neighbours over on the other side of her house or his house, we don't see them / talk to them. deepestpurple - appreciate the suggestions but he's already become aggressive once when approached in a civil manner, and with that and the rock throwing I'm really not inclined to go anywhere near him. I do agree with your point about escalating his behaviour and that's something that I've been keeping in mind as well when considering options. I was never actually considering trying to find bikies to get involved and I'm pretty sure Mr b meant that as a joke . As mentioned the police can't do anything and moving isn't really an option at the moment. We have contacted a neighbourhood dispute mediation group and waiting to hear back from them.

Feck, I do surely need a Stiff drink Ms Foxy. Vodka, Absinthe, lime juice cordial, we'll call it a stiffy, actually, make it a big stiffy, double said ingredients. .. Haven't posted for a few weeks and I think my steam has built up. First, disbelief that little Scotty Scissorhands, who has cut back so much of the NDIS, yet he and his sidekick, Josh Freydenberg, happily lied about the cuts that have plagued the scheme and the authority that oversees it. Then Peter Dutton attacks a disabled mother , who lost a leg (above knee amputation) as a result of a protecting her child from an out of control car in a carpark. Says a lot about how the coalition Actually view people with a disability. Perhaps there are people with a disability who frequent this site? Don't know. Certainly, acceptance of those who are not just a minority of our population but also many of the least able to advocate for themselves, would help, especially living within the framework of what is a world very much designed for those without disability. ..
