One hundred years ago today, in some parts of Australia and in New Zealand, people experienced their first ANZAC Day, beyond the bounds of war, yet still very much in the shadow of that war, as those who survived commemorated that lived experience and those who's lives had been lost, with a still quite new dual national day of remembrance. Those who'd survived the battlefields, returned sporadically after the war's end. Spanish Flu, a temporary legacy to add to the loss of limbs, hearing and sight, burns, wounds, and mental health problems. Services and marches have been held since, to remember not only those men who fought for ground and their lives on the shores and cliffs of the Gallipoli landings, however, also All those who served and the lives lost in other battles and theatres of war and Peace Keeping. Today, we remember their service, their sacrifice, our life and freedom. Lest we forget. .. Mr. urn.

RedHot and myself returned from a brief holiday in Canberra of a few days. Amongst the many places we managed to fit in, we went to the War Memorial and spent a good period of time there. They were already preparing for the influx of people expected, with tents full of plastic chairs just outside the main entrance. Saw much of the theatre of WW1, including many large paintings of various scenes of the great war - showing the many difficulties faced by the troops. Something to remember. On a more personal note, today is also another turn of the numbers for myself. Will be celebrating for both occasions. Cheers, Tall

RIP Had the best day today. Took my Godson on the march with me. He got to carry the Australian flag infront of the march. I was so proud and marched behind him (pushing my mum in her wheelchair) with heart felt chocking tears. I'm happy finally nurses are being acknowledged and given the credit they deserve during war times. I learnt today and such a shame there are no real documentation of records of them, like there are of defence service men/women. I met so many local true veterans and heard a few cheeky stories too. I even got to toss two up coins at our local RSL. Best day ever. Ms Foxy

Yay and nay, There are regular meet and greets for the poly scene, open to singles, couples, groups and crosses over to include the swinging and fetish scenes. At these events there is often a shibari or similar demonstration. I already know couples, I am looking to meet a solo (if not completely single) woman (I don't expect many single women to not at least have an existing "friend" or three). As I have an existing connection with a couple, and am in these scenes in general, I'm always worried about having to explain that to anyone met through general society (not that such comes up very often anyway. So no not quite, you don't have to introduce yourself like going to an AA meeting :p

The shibari was interesting to watch. As they call it ground work with rope and light suspension, half nudity with one couple including candle wax. I didn't manage to make much in conversation with people though, most were couples hanging out together with others or on their own, perhaps expected considering the community although singles were welcome, but no one else seemed to be there individually except a few guys. But of course this is just one event of many ongoing so it's hard to judge.

Have other people experienced an increase in inbox mail directly from groups that organise parties that are listed already in the event section? Normally it is just all under a RHP sender, now events are mailed under the organisers name. I think it might be a new system from RHP because the email is basically a copy of the event listing banner. In any case I get mail from events that I wouldn't be able to attend. Any opt out options?

They say it never rains it pours... In a positive sense, I've been chatting to two different people recently, one through here. Now, suddenly, two more positive replies from other sites, one from a message I sent a year ago! I managed a sole coffee date about this time last year, but it didn't go further. I put down this inclement weather as a reason for some people to be looking online more perhaps... I'll let you folks know if any of these leads to a new date. The ultimate ideal would see me having to change the wording on my profile :)

Apparently foxy held the bi-annual squirt masters hoe down up here a couple of weeks ago and the place was shut down by work health and safety. According to all reports the grand squirt master accidently set off the main sprinkler system. Now the wall papers all peeling off, the place needs re-carpeting and theres this over powering smell of piss in the ladies lounge.

Some time ago, I made Cap’n No Beard put up his own profile (pics and all). Unfortunately we both ended up chatting the same lady. The interesting thing was that this one particular lady wanted to bonk the living daylights out of HIM, but had absolutely no interest in ME! (Her loss I suppose). I think the Cap’n and her ended meeting up at some stage, but I didn’t get the details because I was pissed at him at the time! 😂. Xx Obi1

There's always the likelyhood of similar events being around the same time or perhaps on the same day. If you include play events there are many on every weekend on at the same time. I'm happy to go to another meet and greet in a different state the following weekend if need be haha. Yes, the best weekend has always been to combine it with the Saints event, which was the case for the last two years in October, and works better for those travelling that can attend more than one event.

It was about yet another event that was advertised for couples and single women only. I'd had mentioned that it was no wonder so many where changing to other media platforms. WA has always been great for social events. It's why I'm here still after this long. Met some great people women, men single and married. Majority of my friends are or have been RHP members. I feel this kind of invitation format says only one thing to me and it's not good.

Maybe it’s because single men don’t reply to communications and waste everyones time when organising events? I’ve been sending male invites to the Meet n Greet on the Swan out in lots of ten giving them a week to reply and/or purchase their ticket and no more than 2/10 have responded each time. And it’s standard practise. Happens every event. I have a blacklist of over 50 men from RHP who’ve wasted our time on here repeatedly. So they only have themselves to blame really.
-
AnnieWhichway
At least you get invites that are for your demographic. We get invites to things we are not invited to attend. You'd think RHP could use a filter at least. I feel for the single guys, for some it's the excitement of getting a message but finding its for couples and single women, just to rub salt in the wound of being unsuccessful
-

Most events have the usual " single men will be limited...blah blah". If I was a single guy I wouldnt bother trying to get a golden ticket to these parties. All married guys were once single guys
-
RHP User

3some and your events always include single males to even numbers of single women attending. I do believe that some may think a meet n greet is more like a organised orgy. Which is funny when u think about meeting in public venues. And in no way are we clearing drinks off tables so we can go for it. For anyone attending any event whether social or organised party it can be daunting if u have never attended one. So the mind runs off to thoughts of what it will be like. When in fact more like just going down to your local. Im sure there are couples as well whom also cancel or dont reply. But good on u for keeping track of one's that consistanly dont pay for ticket once invited. Perhaps need to ask why?
-
countrytouch82

Second you there, that the mail event invites are annoying and get your excitement over the recieved messages icon that you actually have mail, and then it's just an "invite" to something you are not invited to :p
-
countrytouch82
I still get mail invites to parties that I've already applied for and been refused. I'm guessing that rhp is automating that mail system and it has nothing to do with the hosts deliberately sending them out. The hosts may not even be aware much or at all. Which might make one person reconsider posting an event of their own if it is going to get mailed out to random people as if it is a direct invite. Considering they're all in the event section I don't see the need for the duplication anyway. If I replied to one of these mail invites, will it go directly to the inbox of the host? You would think some hosts would be getting overwhelmed with such direct replies?
-
AnnieWhichway

The events with the automated invites are paying for the feature I'm sure. I commented on one the advertised event sites to stop sending me invites to things l can't go to. It was deleted immediately....by someone. Well....l was gentle in my approach. The words Fuck Off may have appeared on the comments list. My way of saying for my RSVP, that l was otherwise engaged......but thanks for their thoughts
