Anything Goes

January 18 2018

Not a replacement for the Anything & Everything thread... but it is really, because I miss Annie and I miss the original A&E. Same principles apply... any subject goes, and it's impossible to go off topic. Play nice and don't throw sand at each other. Disagreements and arguing your point of view are fine, but without nastiness and name calling please? Over to you.

Yes. The moonlight still fills up the entire night sky despite it being overcast. I read that even if you can't see the Full Moon, you can still put out your crystals. I have more than 20 out now. I've run out of space for the rest. Should've charged them rent for the premium moon tan and view! 🤣😜

... how we are losing jobs here. I'm having my work hours reduced this year because of cheaper foreign labour. We've got five of them in our workplace now, probably working for less. None of them are trained to Aussie standards. If Australians want to work, we should be able to find work. Foreign labour should only come into the picture to fill in gaps and workforce deficits, not to replace Australians with cheaper wages and lesser benefits, undercutting us!

As of right now (00:20 AEDT, 1 February 2018), that moon is just amazing. Stunning, fantastic, beautiful colour. I just wish I had a real camera to capture it with - mobile phones just aren't up to the job. No, not even an iphone. Hush, fanbois :P Also: really, really glad I don't have to work tomorrow! lol

Are you aware that a spouse of a 457 visa holder is allowed to work in Australia with out a working visa, they have pretty much the same rights as you and I. Talk about a major fuck up. So with the shortage of skilled labour we had during the boom time, not only did we import one person to take up a skilled position here, we also imported a spouse to take up ANY position without any approvals. Go figure why we have high unemployment now. The outcome of all this is in my opinion is youth unemployment leading to drugs and more suicides. I personally wasn't aware of the above untill I was employing people on a 457. Made me sick and I don't work at that company anymore. I was quite happy the day I handed my notice in. - Posted from rhpmobile

I didn’t get to see the moon last night. I remember Halley’s Comet as a younger boy. My parents dragged me out of bed onto the patio. That comet was amazing, the image I can still see in my mind. If ever you pass some amateur astronomers in a park I highly recommmed going for a look. There is some really nice nebulae and star formations that make for excellent viewing. - Posted from rhpmobile

We were lucky enough in Vic. to have a reasonably clear sky last night but for me the moon rising was the best part. Massive, bright and spectacular. Managed to see the full eclipse with the suns refraction causing the blood moon before it was clouded out. Good thing I am a keen bird watcher as I broke out my Steiner skyhawk binoculars which put cheap telescopes to shame. If those interested can find a photo of the moon just before full eclipse it was amazing that tiny sliver of the bright side of the moon just before it disappeared, it seemed like something straight out of some sci-fi flick.

missed out on the Moon spectacular last night. Was too overcast and couldn't even determine what direction the Moon was at. Still, put out my Crystal Ball and crystals too - they would still absorb the energy. Tall

Foreign labour should only come into the picture to fill in gaps and workforce deficits, not to replace Australians with cheaper wages and lesser benefits, undercutting us! We are not Robinson Crusoe here. This sort of "cheaper" workers is happening the world over, and has been for Centuries. But more recent examples are many Asians working in countries that pay better rates (not inferring anything), such as Indians and Filipinos working in the Arab countries, as well as America. Not to forget the Don's bugbear of Mexican's working in America. Pick virtually any country with at least a half decent economy, and there will be foreign workers around. The problem is, as you mention, is to try and make sure they are up to local standards, which quite often they aren't. And that is in part why they are paid the lower wages. Tall

I did manage to stop for two years. Unfortunately had moved in with some mates who smoked... went ok for a while... but one night on the turps. I have reduced to a few a day, the aim is to not have that one in the morning, I do that and I am home hosed again. Might I comment on your pics with your couch?! The humble couch is underrated in my opinion, think about how many steamy sex sessions occur on the couch! Be it the closest piece of furniture as you tumble through the door in a sex mad hungry mess of arms and legs. A slow steady day long sunday session of making lurve. The place of a seduction, oh so often.. as the arm lays over the shoulders... Lets not forget about all the positions that are made so much more comfy on the couch. Couches... fantastic bits of kit!!

Had lots of them on our farm growing up, loyal and smart they are. Funny story about one that belonged to a family member. "Dinky" the cattle dog. We came to find out that dinky could easily jump a 5ft timber paling fence. How did we find this out? Well, my cousin got a notice in his mail box from Aussie post one day. "please restrain your dog as she is terrorizing our postman" A little sleuthing had be done, neighbors called in for detective work etc. Postman comes long on daily mail run, happily buzzing away on his CT110, mail goes in the letter box and, FUCK, he's OUTTTA THERE cos here comes dinky who just cleared the fence! snarling and just being the normal blue heeler on a mission. Once the chase has ended Dinky returns to the house and jumps straight back into the backyard and awaits her master to arrive home from work.... Is it any wonder he denied she was the problem dog. Too smart for us, and we were too slow to work out what was going on.

Yet another traffic operation aimed at heavy vehicle compliance after a disastrous past 2 weeks on our roads resulting in the death of 5 or so people on NSW roads, in 3 separate collisions involving a heavy vehicle. More specifically, January 15 and 16. For those of you who don’t already know, I’ve been driving heavy vehicles since I was 20, with a start in interstate at the age of 24, covering in the last 15 odd years some 2,700,000kms. In this 15 year period I’ve seen some wonderful technology introduced(esc, ebs to name 2), I’ve seen a complete change in fatigue regulation, a huge step was increasing the major rest break from 6 hours to 7, and introduction of bfm(basic fatigue management and advanced fatigue management or afm) and IAP or intelligent access program, which allows vehicles some extra mass. This for me means I’m grossing in at 68.5t for a b-double with 9 axles. However.... I feel disappointed. I feel disappointed in that it takes 5 deaths to trigger such a vigorous compliance that throws people that are also in my industry into such a triggered “woe is me” state. I’ve seen comments made by these so called professionals that refer to those who wear the enforcement agency uniform as dogs, and maggots. Why?? Because they’re doing their job. It saddens me to think that those who proclaim professionalism can quite happily wave such a banner and yet be the first people to complain about being held responsible for upholding such a standard. It beggars belief, that there are those in my industry that sees such operations (where said compliance checks are usually done in 15 mins max unless an offence is detected) as being too restrictive to their money making agenda, yet they’ll spend anything up to 3 hours a week washing, and polishing their trucks... I really do hope that my industry can get over themselves long enough to see past their greed and to see that such compliance actually helps the driver to be in decently maintained gear that’s not a danger to themselves, or to others.... And so concludes operation rolling thunder.... - Posted from rhpmobile

.. Ya know.. the very first time I went on a mine site to work.. (AND I got a 'Tuppence' for it) was as a "TA" with my Da.. I was 8 years of age...Literally!My entire life has gravitated around mining, one way or the other.. cranes, construction, re-habitation, ground support and shit like that.Holding bits onto fellas as we rushed to medic care, AND I even had a man die in my arms.Lost maybe 40 or 50 fellas(and a couple of gals) I have worked with over the years to work related incidents or suicide. Yet every fucking day mate, I have to watch fuckheads deliberately flaunt the rules and procedures which are written in the blood of the deceased. AND, I am not allowed to sack them for their OWN good, or the good of the rest of the workforce.I am not allowed to call them fuckwits and dropkicks.I am not allowed to get angry at them and not allowed to slap the shit out of them..Don't even START me on "Professionalism" So, on Australia Day, I was sitting with a young rigger friend who has been with me on jobs for over ten years I reckon. We were discussing a fatality and the company involved..Young mate had worked for the particular company and refused point blank to do that particular job because of it's risk potential. He got kicked off site and sacked - which is good.Another fella was bullied into doing the job, and, as was to be expected, tragic consequences occurred. The Bullied is going to jail for that... and the Bully? zip.. fucking nardoo.. still in operation.. still a bully, and still going to kill someone else. So.. your industry, just the same as mine, can have as many rules and regulations imposed on it as regulators an dream up, BUT, at the end of the day, IF there are humans at the controls, there are going to be SOME, who will and can flaunt the laws, and kill some innocent THEN.. virtually get away with it...BUT... Good luck to you personally Brother.. and Keep the shiny side up..

I agree on the most part, and assuming that lives were the priority importance. However the most recent incident involving a workmate and the RTA (ie while in NSW), saw him charged with over dimensional load and unsecured load, as a very light water tank he was carrying in his gated tautliner moved a very small amount so it was pressing on the gate/curtains. However, they gave him the maximum possible penalty. Eventually he took time off work to go to court in Sydney, where the RTA did not show up. Neverless he had the engineering data regarding the load capacities of his straps, gates and curtains, and the fact that the maximum charge they applied was only supposed to be given in the circumstance of a load actually having fallen off onto the road. Of course the judge dismissed all the charges. But the system is such that you cannot be compensated for them wasting your time. - Posted from rhpmobile

If you are a dangerous fuckwit, we dont want you, go be a fuckwit somewhere else. But then, like dealing with explosives... you wouldn't just take out yourself or a fellow blue collar, probably wipe out the white collars too. I have heard some guys complain about the paperwork and checklists, I dont mind, if done right it is helping to keep me alive. We do however get the odd safety officer hero that wants to be ridiculous, but they seemed to get tuned up or weeded out pretty fast. (yes I know the fire extinguisher on the machine is out of date, this is why I have this one in date right next to it, not I am not going to tag the whole machine out, yes let's talk to the supervisor about it"). I worked on a different site, construction, and this dude (site manager) who claims to be a high risk instructor from queensland tells me to tie up to a truck on a slope for working at heights... "NO" was my reply. Then he reckons I can just use a laborer with no training as my spotter for using an EWP on soft sandy ground... "NO" was my reply. Then he mansplains to me I have to work with him on the job i.e. break the law. Thankfully I wasn't employed by them directly. I rang my boss and let him know what was going on. He called the client and explained I wasn't hired in those roles and wasn't VOC'ed for that site for those activities so please stop instructing me to do them. Whew!!! In the end they got another contractor to do that task... with NO safety consideration at all. Yeagh, happy to be where I am currently even though it is a dangerous place to work.

As the friend's family that lived there had one, he decided at the end of the ad, to exclaim "hey we better get our Cox out!" To fix this pain, I went to get a hardcore Chinese massage and fire cupping done tonight 😆 I’m a hard chick, need really strong massage and hardcore treatments to bring my spring back in my movements 😅 - Posted from rhpmobile

I am going to post on the thread I started, I apologise but I am making that choice and have my reasons, for doing so it comes down to some timing of things, I hope you understand Peony.

Hey inspirit is it a coincidence that I put a post up last night with the 'I digress thing' or am I part of the buzz worders. Hope it's a coincidence as I was just writing and it has always been a phrase I find quite amusing as you begin to go of track with what you are saying. So for me it in no way is the new word for gonna be a cunt but suck it up. As I am not one to take others down in any way. I also abhor buzz words (just too sheeple) so I shall not be using that phrase here again

Just watched the footage of SpaceX's Falcon Heavy test launch, putting a car into orbit around the sun. Fantastic stuff and a huge success! (https://youtu.be/wbSwFU6tY1c for those interested)

Hahaha It is no big deal. I have seen it several times of late and yeah 'sheeple'comes to mind. It is a bit like using the word 'but'.... yeah but, everything I said before hand is really flakey. Anyhooo 😁😁 - Posted from rhpmobile

I used it the other day, Colonel Potter from MASH used to say it a lot when he was telling tales, and I have the same habit. That's where I got it from. Sorry, no untoward meanings from me. 🍑y

Anyhooo 😁😁 I think it depends on what people read into it. As per my last post, I think of Colonel Potter from MASH when I use it, he was a bit flaky? and his character had a good heart, a big heart. So, I tend to get a good feeling rather than reading negativity into it. And google tells me... "with all due respect", is simply a phrase used before disagreeing with someone. It implies polite disagreement. It depends on what we make of it. Peachy, I'm easy

I'm experienced a couple of people crying victim lately, it's a much bigger world when you take responsibility for your own behaviour instead of blaming other people. Peachy, speaking from experience

Hope you're enjoying the cooler weather in Perth these last couple of days, it's heavenly here with all the windows open to allow fresh, cool air to pass through every room of the house. Peachy, feeling peachy

IMO... Yep, means nothing more than that. It's a pity more people don't get that. MYOB?... You post it in the forum, it is everyone's business. Peachy, in my opinion.

Of course that suits, since meddling in a toxic way is what some enjoy. Fortunately most don't go that far. Whatever gets you off hey.

MASH was just plain funny. The sarcasm was intelligent not sloppy. With all due respect Peachy, I have always thought people 'playing victim' are those who need the most understanding and actually need to have their opinions validated. Yes it is a big world out there for some people and for some not so. Some people are also incapabable of taking responsibility for their own actions. They just think differently and if you dont agree, then perhaps move on and not get involved. MYOB... I hate it and MYOB help desk.fucked up last quarter reconcilliations for me. - Posted from rhpmobile
