Often. But not usually unless I am trying to make a particular point when writing as it is not my writing style. Too many years studying and my assignment would not have been accepted if I did use profanity, and certainly very rarely in public. What is the difference between men and women swearing? None! I spent many years working in the shearing industry, back in the eighties I was often the only women in the team, men swearing is just as cheap as women swearing. It is not only women with this problem, the songs that the kids listen to are full of profanity and many have been banned from my kids ipods. Those that do litter thier comments with this type of language probably speak that way in real life. They dont know any better and they probably think it is cool. FFS.

I try and pick my audience to my gutter mouth. Im confused though in that you mention swearing in forums. Do you mean the use of terms such as "pussy, cock" etc as the "language of love" or the F and C words? ( see? im trying to pick my audience here..) I find the first two examples as commonplace talk on here and doesn't bother me in the slightest considering vagina and penis reminds me of the doctors surgery- bit too clinical. Even the "F" word doesn't make me batter an eyelash but the "C" word I'd personally never use as I'm sure Id get struck down with lightning. In conversations with my girlfriends I can let fly if Im particularly riled about something then the "S" the occasional "F" and my throwback to having irish parents.."ruddy and bloody" can come out! I'll admit I swear more then my husband who never swears in front of me. Id never use profanities in front of my parents, oldies and the general public. Private conversations/chats in here can be another matter..

OK? its neither cool nor smart. we were asking because it seems to be a very disturbing 'norm'. it doesnt matter where its heard. or who it is that swears, to us its offensive. i was asking because we are amazed that men and women who are on sites like these to meet for play etc, seem to feel obliged to be the most offensive they can be, and we don't understand. is it to impress? show off? shock? i dont like being called 'c--t' or being told to 'f-ck off', and neither does my wife. lately tho it seems to be the women. i do not swear to or at women. never have. but women seem to have no issue swearing at us/me. am asking why?

Private conversations/chats in here can be another matter.. dont have issue with the softer things...pussy cock etc. but take offence when a woman tell me to f-ck off or call me a c-nt. as much as my wife is offended when someone who is purportedly trying impress her, peppers their chats etc with c-nt this and f-ck that. we dont swear at anyone or call them names. its saves having to go through the tedious motions of putting down my drink and removing my watch. in some ways, at nearly 50, we are very old fashioned, and i take great pleasure in demonstrating my indignation when someone offends me or mine in public.........

But agree that it's pretty crass and very unladylike. . I also agree with Saturn that audience is everything. And my swearing is only ever in context - to throw around foul language out of context and merely for the sake of it to me, suggests a limitation in good vocabulary and social graces - male or female - however the times they are a'changin I guess and for some reason unbeknownst to me, society is a lot more accepting of it than ever before. Seems a shame really ...

but does it have to read like the author has Tourettes? its bad enough that males are free with their expletives, but when it comes from women, it makes me shiver. not with fear, but with disgust.

I am not sure why it is that women's speak is being single out here. Is it OK for men to swear up a storm, but not OK for women to use foul language? IS that what the issue is? Woman acting like ladies? I swear far too much, and I know that it is not for every one. Therefore, I try to limit it to the right kinds of circumstances. This place (RHP) seems like the right kind of place to speak freely. For me, swearing loudly on the street, or in a public place where people might be offended, would be crossing a line. However, I would be equally offended by a man or a woman crossing that line. I guess I could be mis-interpretting your question, but it seems to me like you are only concerned about the way women talk. Why is that? Just asking....

Different situtions call for different actions. I can swear like crazy but know when not too. Most of the time frustration with other peoples actions make the swear words fly. They are the angry words and yep there probably are better words to use but my inner dictionary shuts down and the F's and C's fly. But what about during sex????? Whispering in your mans ear " I need you to fuck me baby" etc. A lot of guys seem to like a bit of dirty talk in bed. Anddddd What about swearing in a different language? Is it less offensive if people dont know what your saying?

I sat on a bus a few weeks back and endured the potty mouths of 2 twenty-somethings (check out chicks no less)......... until i shut them up by reminding them of the 15 or so primary school children who could also hear them. i'm no prude, but these things were way out of hand.

I don't judge a woman based on her use of swear words, as long as she says could 'have' instead of could 'of' and capsicum instead of capsicun and understands that youse is probably not a word, she can continue to do my cooking and cleaning.

Honey follow me into the bedroom and if you dont mind terribly could you put your nicely aroused penis inside my vagina, I've already pre-moistened whilst thinking about your afore mentioned appendage. And if its not too much to ask could you please use a lot of force and momentum to get me to my desired ending? . Lol just not quite the same as get your hard cock into the bedroom now and fuck me really hard until I scream with a mind blowing orgasm....kind of gets lost in the translation. . I get what you are saying a little, but should women only be allowed to swear in the bedroom and then modify it everywhere else? Im sure most people do anyway, you just feel out the situation and adjust accordingly

When I was married, I hardly ever said f-ck that feels so good. As the years has gone on, I have felt it creeping into my vocab and the other day I said to a friend I say it too much and he said yes I had been using it a bit. So have to make an effort to reduce my usage. The c word only gets said under my breath!

I am a prolific swearer...my template reply to unsolicited messages even has the words : "Fuck off and leave me alone" in it...I find that this is much more effective than "Please do not contact me further" especially as my profile already says not to bother and send me messages... . While my writing style is tempered (a little) in comparison to my day to day speech so as to try and not offend too many people I will admit that i often reread what has been written and edit it...crossing out all those nasty swear words...my day to day speech is littered with swear words - when in discussion with my drivers etc but not in dealing with clients...and of course if I am at a pub etc then yes I freely admit to swearing . Did my mother raise me in this manner??? No way!!! But having worked in seriously male dominated industry where sometimes it was the only way to get them to listen - you had to be one of the boys to get your voice heard - it has become a part of my general sppech. . Does this make me any less articulate?? I dont think so...I feel that often it is the only way to get a point across . Kisses Focus

Sorry saturn, Did I say check out chick.I thought I said, fart, spit and swear.mmmTo be honest, swearing isn't all that bad, its how you swear that makes a womanlook bad but I should say guy as well.I wouldn't walk into an aged care facility and talk to residents there with a foul mouth. It's all about respecting those around you at time and place.I don't hold it against anyone for being annoyed with some one enough to say F off, but it all depends on the circumstance doesn't it.

I tend to swear a bit but when you race cars you tend to hang around guys that turn the air blue occasionally. I never liked the use of c*nt for a woman's vagina but in the BDSM world it is the norm. Also the use of f*ck is common for sex and I am now used to both and am no longer offended.I do find it offensive when every second word out of a person's mouth is f*ckin'. Such as "We were goin' along the f*ckin' road and this f*ckin' car f*ckin' cuts in front of us" (overheard at the shopping center from a young man of around 18 or 19) Where is the soap to wash their mouths out?

Yes I know I swear too much and I'm not proud of that, especially when I let out an expletive accidently in front of someone like say my mother...I hate that disappointed look she gives me (only time she gives me it). My father was a chronic swearer and I blame him, although he'd never swear in front of a lady - he should have extended that to kids too!Mrs Pup is a lady and she almost never swears, about the only time I've heard her is when I've been an absolute selfish goose and luckily I do try not to be one very often. I'll agree with mikeandshel though that in general we all swear all too often and inappropriately. Why? I think we have less care for those around us and it's only getting worse. Yep kids and adults alike might be swearing on the bus, they also wont give their seats up for the elderly or a pregnant woman. What I don't see though is that it's worse just for women. I also don't know who's telling them to F#@K off or calling them C#@ts ....I don't see people throwing these insults around in the forums and in public it's only the low lifes who woudl level those terms at someone unless you really really insulted them in some way?

Sorry If I didn't make myself clear before but I am most definatly referencing your fart and spit comments lol..seriously, how many times in your life have you seen a woman spit or fart in public? If a lot or even a few times then yes again Im enquiring as to where you live to see this happen as Im genuinly surprised. Maybe I live in a bubble of suburbia that this does not exist and for that I am thankful. Or maybe the wind gusts blow seaward before my delicate nose can smell such ungainly smells...but in regards to this topic I think that as far as forums go I cant really see where OP is getting his opinion from..am waiting for them to show me.

It all reminds me of an old song that was playing in the eighties (I think) about how we didnt make the guns, we didnt make the factories, we didnt start the wars. Mikeandshel...we are the generation that has raised these no good types that swear prolifically in the streets and at public venues. Yes, you and I and all the others in our age group. We ( and I use the 'we' collectively) can take the blame for all of the expletives, rough language and the whole enchillada. We failed our children and in turn, they are failing thiers. We obviously did not set a good enough example. Remember "we" are the generation that laughed at comedian Rodney Rude. The man who made a living out of profanity on stage....."hey Santa...where's me fuckin' bike?" No body likes to be called a cunt or be told to fuck off and the one question I and many others have asked is...why is it so bad for a woman to swear like a trooper in public and not for a man? I personally find both offensive. We teach our boys and our girls about 'paddock language' You just gotta swear when working sheep and dogs. There is no other way.

Quoting 'fionabee' It all reminds me of an old song that was playing in the eighties (I think) about how we didnt make the guns, we didnt make the factories, we didnt start the wars. There is no other way. we did none of those things Fiona. you may have, but most definitely not us. the women we spoke of were our ages, in their forties and even in their fifties........i taught them nothing and set them no examples..... the 2 on the bus were just another example. we were making comment on women. not girls and boys who are barely more than children. and to set the record straight, we find Rodney Rude offensive, taught our children to be respectful and never used poor language in front of any of them. we/they do not swear or curse in front of women, or children. if they do it out of our earshot then we dont really care, but if its used in conversation with us or with my wife, one of us will put a stop to it. if you think its ok, thats your business, but we dont. if you wish to put your hand up and take the collective blame, then good luck to you. and no......after working in the industries I have and managing to 'keep my cool' i can defintely say that you do not need to swear to make yourself understood. why 'bastardize' a perfectly good language? besides......if you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas..... I come from a single parent low income government housing background, but managed to keep myself and my reputation clean.I grew up knowing some of the worst people you could ever meet, and managed to remain untarnished. I have worked in the Road Transport, Maritime Shipping, Mining, Justice,Law Enforcement, Building and now Manufacturing Industries, usually in a 'hands on' role, and at no point have had to compromise even one principle to be "one of the boys". swearing, cursing, name calling and the like are all 'discretionary', meaning you have the choice to speak well or speak poorly. i know which way i choose, and i know which way my wife chooses........ as for my post not being about men, well thats just another topic for another day, and i'm sure you dont wish to get into a discussion about how juvenile i think men who swear prolifically are do you? as a final point too....I've not ever heard the language that came from these young womens mouths while riding on a council bus half laden with children at any stage before, from anyone, male or female. it was a disappointing eye opener.

Quoting 'puppy' Yes I know I swear too much and I'm not proud of that, especially when I let out an expletive accidently in front of someone like say my mother...I hate that disappointed look she gives me (only time she gives me it). I also don't know who's telling them to F#@K off or calling them C#@ts ....I don't see people throwing these insults around in the forums and in public it's only the low lifes who woudl level those terms at someone unless you really really insulted them in some way? i used the forums as an example. as we've been berated and abused in many private messages in response to opinions and comments we posted on various forums. and have passed them on to site admin. the upset is also out there in public. being abused by women in general, and women using foul language. but please, i say women meaning 'of our age', not really sure why, but we expect better than that from women. might just be our upbringing?

Hmmm… let me see, destructive swearing would be one side of the coin, the other side of the coin would be constructive swearing. We cannot have one without the other. When we are aware of it, and embrace it, somehow we do not get affected negatively by it no more. Resisting to it creates suffering, and this is when we find it offensive, low, degrading, on and on. As we become more and more aware, we tend to use more constructive swearing, and this is not offensive at all. Desireher.

Quoting 'mikeandshel' Quoting 'ChasingMidnight' Whilst oft I choose the path of the contrarian, albeit due more so to my more secular contumacious nature...I personally take no offence. My virginal visual and auditory senses remain unscathed. | Besides...if she is fucking hard against my tongue with her hot pussy saturating my face and starts screaming, I might just hear the same words? | Short form....who gives a shit? Please note that all words have been spelled correctly and not a word in text speak. | ...ffs. was never a solicitation for a display of linguistic gymnastics. as we find that avocation both boorish and perfidious....... its only clever one or two times, and then it really does become just another juvenile show of imagined cleverness. oooh look at me and the big words i found mummy! For someone who is claiming to not be judging.. there seems to be an awful lot of put downs.. if you don't like people who swear, ask them to leave, or more to the point don't ask them to come.. if you don't like the language used in forums, don't read them.. It really isn't that hard to work out.. why should people have to conform to what you think is the right way? People are people and at some stage everyone, including you, will say or do something that upset the minority..And while I understand that you can't be expected to be a hermit and not go anywhere for fear of hearing a few F bombs be dropped, you can not expect people to know that you take the moral high ground on speech but are quite happy to frequent a site like this and put your wife on display.. If the speech offends you, ask them to cease or you can get up and walk away..And if you think puttin "it" about town is MORE lady like than saying fuck.. You are delusional

Why is a site concerned primarily with sex conceived to have no base level of respect for others on it? Do you respect yourself? If so respect others..by all means if they play dirty then get in and dirty with them but don't expect that everyone is that way. Personal messages are one thing but the forum is just like being in a public place albeit a very open and sexy place.Yes that's my take on it but I believe it's close to the truth?

By all means keep YOUR high standards and look down on others for thier lapse in moral standards but do not expect all to be the same. You are very fond of berating me for my narrow outlook on subjects......Look in the modern dictionaries, many of these words that YOU have never heard are now actiually accepted as part of the English language. Obviuosly too insular in your lovely little smug world then. If you do not move with the times you fossilize. Any language is never perfectly good. It must evolve with the times. The same as us. insular? lol. thats hilarious! dont begin to assume you can teach or coach me/us to the wonders of the world. I've been there and done that, from witnessing murder in new york to working as a drug rehabilitation coordinator to holding a child's ear on after his father kicked him so hard he all but tore it from his head. we'd think living west of the Pilliga would be far more removed from mainstream society than a major city, but then, i could be mistaken. dont make assuptions, especially about us, as I've possibly experienced more than most.

Wont deny that there are foul mouthed "bogan" types out there of BOTH Female and Male persuasion. The type that do indeed pepper their speech unessecarily with swearing I however dispute the fact that it is happening with women in the forums to any great degree. So much so you would have to mention it occuring without backing it up. Mike, I didn't ask you to point out particular people but did ask to direct us to any particular topic to show us where this unnessary swearing by women was occuring so as to make your assumption that the practise of women swearing is indeed becoming over the top. You wont.Hide behind the "Oh no we wont go into school yard tactics" to me thats a cop out and if you are going to make such a wide sweeping statement back it up! If someone- Male or Female sent me a rude message - ie calling me a "C" or any other such abusive stuff in regards to anything I posted, Id have no problems blocking them and then outting there dirty tactics back in the forum boards on the topic that brought up their dummy spat in the first place.Thats just Bullying tactics on their side and they should be outted for the cowards that they are. Then Admin can deal with them.Saves some other peep having dealings with them.JMO

Really I am and to help you in this since you wont be drawn to naming a subject or author, Im putting my hand up and seeing if one of my own sentences in your eyes could be deemed as unnessary profanity. In the trainwreck thread that was "I just did a pregnant girl," and you did post in that one so I know its ok for you to go back in and look at. I mentioned , jokingly I might add that I wondered should I have "fucked" my baker..is that the kind ofprofanity/ language you are talking about?

I do say rude words when appropriate which is in bed. I think swearing and saying rude words are two different aspects. Absolutely in conversation with a friend of mine I do let the fbomb drop and so does he...I don't find this offensive nor degrading, it's just the way it is. Having said that, not every second word is F**k. I adore the female Cbomb in the bedroom and I like the male Cbomb in the bedroom also. That's where it sits. All good. I do agree, if I was in conversation and/or in the forums, I do refrain from swearing, no point really. I feel it is an unnecessary expression of emotion in that environment. I find the funny side of things, I love it when I am with a guy and he drops the fbomb and then blushes...It's soooo cool. I believe in respect though. I am of the old school and I remember getting in trouble by my Dad for saying Shutup and Bugger...so anything else never came to mind lawl. I strongly will not stand for swearing around children. xxxx

Quoting 'Saturn65' See thats what I thought too, the GB thread but Mike has stated he hasn't looked at that one. I agree and already said that there is 1 girl being what he might be on about. again, i wasnt 'on about' anyone in particular. its a general thing.as for those that have been directed at us? all good and sorted thank-you, blocked and reported to admin a few times. wasnt so long ago that you hardly heard/read a woman using bad language of any sort, but it seems as soon as a little frustration occurs, its all 'f' this and 'c' that. all i was tring to do was understand where it all went wrong and it became the 'norm' for women to speak like this? I am very accustomed to it, after spending time with a hugely diverse cross-section of society, but never have I been OK with it. the council bus episode just annoyed me. its not meant to be a 'sexist' thing as I have never once said that I/we are ok with poor language from men. we block guys regularly based on language used at first contact. I've had to deal with complaints at work from those who have been subjected to abusive language and bullying, and some of the accused have been women, which was both difficult to deal with and disappointing. in this post some of the women have sworn uneccisarily, but its not amusing or even remotely clever, it just shows a lack of understanding of the topic as posted.

Can you all please stop this profanity. Lol. Focus is right beside me reading this!!! FFS! l If the swearing in front of children is a worry, please wander into a school yard at lunchtime and really listen to the little darlings. Check out the movies that they are watching. Listen to the words of thier songs. I can guarantee that the average ten year old knows, uses and understands words we never had even heard of at thier age.

whats with women these days? it seems to be the 'norm' for women to swear, like sailors, in conversation and even here in forum posts. for us, its offensive, and dont understand the need for it. do they not care? we've read posts of women of all ages and theyre peppered with profanity...is it just laziness, or a genuine lack of vocabulary? or just plain rude? we think the latter....... if this isnt aimed at woman and being sexist...then i dont know what is you mentioned posts of WOMEN peppered with profanity...which ones are you talking about??? you have said nothing at all in this question that says men annoy you also when they swear, its all aimed at women...you cannot now say it isnt when plain and simply it is and yes i am a normal woman...if your wife doesnt fart, shit and burp then i feel for her...life must be very hard as a stepford wife roxxy

I asked a question. You would pick a part of my post to respond to but never the question I asked.I ( ok persistently..) tried to pose it in such a way that you may answer it even throwing an example of mine as I wouldn't be offended had you thought it rude, I was just trying to find out exactly how a woman swearing offended you. If it was used in context or bandied about willy nilly. NOW that you have finnally pointed out that examples of FionaB and Roxxy in this thread as being offensive then I can say that yes , I do find you are precious/sexist about it. I know your care factor on what I think is zero and on this subject it truly works both ways.

Oh how funny it is to read fellow chatters pondering about whether or not to use the fuck word and the consequences of using it. How many newspaper editors would love to slip a 'fuck' in here and there to some of their articles? It's just another word, to be used with respectfulness and with appropriate timing....

Quoting 'TassieRose' Quoting 'fionabee' if we come across as judgmental then so be it. don't expect or ask for an explanation, as none will be forthcoming. if you dont like the topic and the way the discussion is heading, opt out then. we have something to share and wont have it hijacked by those that we have already crossed paths with, and who are already very aware that their input is neither welcome nor invited. Focus is restraining me.......but I do recall being told I was childish for this very same comment here. If you dont want opinions...do not ask for them L Focus...not Billy Joel 'we didnt start the fire'..an earlier song l Roxxy...I think Mikeandshel are talking about public transport when they talk about council bus see when you swear you dont get ignored lol...thanks Fiona i had no idea what that was...must be a mainland thing, over its called a "bus" was that a midnight oil song??? roxxybaaahaaahaaa i laughed so loud that my toddler sprayed me with a water gun to shut me up! buddy suck it up ...the english language has been transforming for years and youve only just noticed ,whether you find it insulting or abusive is purely your own perspective, as the younger generation are using such adjectives merely for convenience as it emphasises the statement they are trying to make ,it has become the norm whether you or like it or not ,its not unlike when the first bikini was worn to the beach most were up in arms and now everyone is doing it ,sorry pal its not going to get any better ,but it doesnt mean you have to join in just be more tolerant, you can still go to the beach in your full swimming costume but it is you that is out of place
