Yes, please do that. If he doesn't understand why, please copy & paste my story & show both your boys. They don't have to know where it came from, if they don't know about your RHP life, the most important thing is that they learn how things happen & happen very quick. But they must understand that U love them, no matter what. My Boy lost control of a stolen car @ high speed & was literally dead 5sec's later, no repreive, no 2nd chance. He suffered a "massive" heart attack from the adreanilan & drugs & was "brain dead" from then on. He was an "organ donar" of his own accord, his heart was useless, but he saved 4 other ppl. This is 1 of the few things I find solace in. Paul.

So many decent people falling victim to it and same with the Building Industry it should be made harder for employers to screw over their apprentices. Hope Brooke is coping also....

The government has no guts I know a way to cut supply and demand in half if not more. The fact is the GOV likes seizing drug money and keeping and selling homes , cars and so on.The greed of the people you vote for kills.I would love to change the system to net vote. Each month the media puts options out in the media and you get on the net and vote, examplethe death penaltyThis would be true democracy and greed would have no part.

My kids know about my life, how I spend my spare time lol and with whom, ballpark anyway, age and all that, nothing hidden think they're proud of their Mum, just quietly Great that your son was a donor. I'm certainly proud of them and couldn't imagine the pain of losing one of them. Those families will be incredibly grateful. I've always had my name down as a donor, ever since I was young and as the years wore on, used to joke with my husband about my spare parts not being any good to anyone, I'd taken the old bod out for a fair spin and his reply was mimicking someone ringing up the spare parts lot asking for a '63 model whatever, but jokes aside, I was always fully aware that there might be some part of me that could save someone or help them in some way. It's the ultimate gift we can leave, when we leave, and your son has left the ultimate gift, and to 4 people, how amazing is that?

Like the rest of us is struggling to cope. Ryan was the love of her life, as was she to him. Their relationship had struggled since mid 2015, she'd found out about the drugs & other activities he been involved in. 3wks prior to Easter, Ryan told his Mum "that he couldn't live without Brooke", on Easter Thurs nite he told his Mum that it was over with Brooke for ever on her behalf, she seems to feel some guilt about this. I assured her that if we'd had a Daughter we would have wanted her to be like her & not be involved with somebody that had taken the path Ryan had. We still love her with all of our hearts & will always be there to support her. I consider her to be my daughter in law, as I believe when Ryan got his life sorted out, which he would've given time, they would have been together for ever. Ppl wrote things on FB like "passed away", "at peace now", that is bullshit, old & ill ppl do that, my Son died tragically & needlessly. He was driving a stolen car back to the "ringleader" Jason's house, Jason was there in his own car, stopped, pulled Ryan out of the burning wreck, which thankfully stopped him being incinerated, but took off leaving another guy to cop the "heat". Ryan's phone, wallet, keys & other stuff left the scene of the crash & have never been recovered. Jason could have txt any 1 of 100 ppl to alert his Mum that he had crashed, that was @ 3.30am on Easter Tues, instead the police turned up @ my Ex's door @ 8.30am in the morn, I arrived at the Alfred around 10am, to see my Son, who looked quite Ok, physically, but was "braindead" with a sticker on his hand that said "unknown male". That broke my heart. This is the way ppl like Jason operate, they are at the top of the "pyramid", they use "foot soldiers" like Ryan to carry out the "work" & try to remain "clean". This is how the Outlaw Bike gangs operate, 1 of which Jason was/is associated with. Warn your kid's, no matter how "glamorous" it may look to be associated with the "King Pin", they run the risk of being used & just tossed aside later. My Son is a victim of this type of "Warfare". More about the "Kingpin" later.

Didn't mean to hi jack your thread, just the way it has happened. I'm not doing this for sympathy, just in the hope that I can prevent this happening to our Kids in the future. If somebody would like to start a "Ryan" thread & copy & paste the main content, I'd be happy to jump over there, I don't know how to do that. I'm a "Dopey Old Man", but way more alert & smarter than I was prior to Easter. Cheers Paul.

There's a few misconceptions about our industry... The biggest one is the claim that we are running to tight schedules... I have worked for companies that have delivered to the big bad supermarkets and yes as a driver you get a 30 minute window to present for delivery....and then usually you face a 2-3 hour unloading process. But there is only 1 person that has that control and that is the driver. So....if I'm not feeling that I'm fit to take the truck and arrive on time, it's my responsibility to say NO. Yes that means I won't get paid.....but if I can't physically why should I get paid unless it's sick pay?? This is why blokes play on the "I'm on a tight schedule" ploy. They know they don't have the amount of hours in the logbook to achieve the goal, but say yes to it anyway and then cry poor when they get fined, or fall asleep behind the wheel, etc. have I done this?? Fuck yeah. And I survived, so I've been lucky. The gym equipment in truck stops then becomes a choice....at the moment as it stands, b-doubles have a restricted road network, much like 4.6 metre high vehicles....and if people remember the transport company from mount gambier that had a truck stuck on the M5 east tunnel you'll understand why we have route restrictions in place for certain types of combinations. Gyms aren't always located near b-double routes, therefore by the time we separate our combination so that it's of a size to get access to the gym we've probably used our 30 mins break....and whilst we can have more than half an hour, I, like most, choose not to if we can help it. By doing this we can be through cities that are about to be choked up by peak hour...let's face it, big trucks like the combination I drive, aren't going to make peak hour anymore enjoyable for those in their cars....so if we can get through that early we're not adding to it. But that also gives us an added option.....to pull up for a couple of hours and twiddle our thumbs.....perfect opportunity to hit the gym equipment, IF said equipment were available. But currently without that option, once again we'll sit in the regular truck stop and eat.....drink iced coffee, V, coke, etc....all shitty drinks to have and very much a fave of mine too lol but you get my drift. I could go on for hours about improvements to truck stops and their facilities but I'll get boring.... - Posted from rhpmobile

As I said, I admire your thought about your situation, but also, is it a really practical idea ? Not being in your shoes, I don't of course know how often you would practically be able to fit such a call into your schedule. I can only go by general heresay that trucking schedules are tight, and that the opportunity to fit in extra activities would be quite limited. Could you say that you could fit in your desire for a gym stop every day ? Or maybe only once a week, or once a month ? Therein lies the crux of the matter for making it a viable proposition for a commercial arrangement. How many of the other operators that you know, would be prepared to spend their time at a similar establishment ? Do they actually indeed have the spare time ? I can see the sense in your desire, but like anything else, it has to be commercially viable. Are there enough of you for it to become so ? Tall

Yup I see your point...so I'll hopefully answer that question by explaining our fatigue regulations. There are 3 fatigue management accreditations for commercial drivers....obviously this will only affect trucks, but busses have a similar thing. There are standard fatigue...more commonly referred to as a 12 hour book. This is the base model fatigue that is a standard program that requires no additional training to be accredited. In any 24 hour period we can only work/drive for 12 hours and it's broken up into the following breaks. - In any period of 5.5 hours a total of not more than 5.25 hours of work. - In any period of 8 hours you must have only worked 7.5 hours with rest breaks of at least 15 mins. - In any period of 11 hours, you can only work 10hrs. - in any period of 24 hrs, you can only work 12, with a 7 hour continuous stationary rest break. Stationary rest breaks are breaks with away from vehicle or in an approved sleeper cab of the stationary vehicle. How this relates to the practical situation in real terms.... Drive/work for 5 hours, take 30 mins rest. Drive a further 5 hours, take 30 mins rest, drive 2 hours, stop for a minimum 12 hours. The 14 hour book, which is what I run under is a bit different, but easier..... In any period of 6.25hrs, work only 6. In any period of 9 hours, work 8.5. In any period of 12 hours, work 11. In any period of 24 hours, work 14 with a 7 hour continuous stationary rest break... In any period of 14 days, you can only work 144 hours with a 24 hour break taken after not more than 84 hours work.. Ok by now you're probably thinking what has this got to do with it??? The fact is we still need to take a regarding break....we can't just drive until our dicks fall off. So... By having an "anytime gym" franchise where your membership is recognised nationally, you plan your regulated breaks to coincide with where said gyms are situated at truck stops.... It's commercial viability is on a national basis as you're only paying for the one gym membership. Would all trickiest use it?? I doubt it, but what choices do we have currently?? Maccas, KFC, hungry jacks, and the odd olivers.... - Posted from rhpmobile

Thanks for your detailed reply. Got the gist of what you're trying to get across, but in what you've said, broadly speaking within most of the "break times" you've still got FA time available as a break. It's only when you look at the longer work times that you actually get a decent break - enough for a meal, shower or what not. The idea of the national 'anytime franchise' is not so much what I was questioning, it was rather the amount of people who might actually use it. Having a business open 24/7 is not new, of course, but you have to have enough foot traffic to keep it viable. So in essence what you would like to see is a combined restaurant and gym, or would sleeping accommodation with it also be desirable ? You do see the irony of a gym next to a restaurant..., but I know it makes sense on your part.Maybe something to think about ?? Tall

... you have a tough job. And yes, your lifestyle makes it hard to make time for workouts. The health of the gut is increasingly becoming recognised by Drs and researchers as playing a key role in our overall health. Paying attention to the kinds of food that we eat and avoiding food that tends to cause indigestion, heartburn, constipation, etc helps tremendously. If one's digestive system is working optimally, one will generally be in the pink of health, generally speaking and excluding any preexisting health conditions. Just to encourage you, Stirry... I lost weight based on diet modification alone. I did not exercise at all. I did undergo tremendous stress during my intensive postgrad program but other than that, the only thing that changed was my diet choices and portion sizes. My breakfast would be either one Belvita biscuit or 1/3 or 1/2 a granola bar washed down with plain water. Then I would be on my feet at work until lunchtime when the portion would typically be 1/2 of what I used to have for lunch. Initially, it was really hard cause it felt like I was starving myself. But I realised that by not eating as much as I used to, and by avoiding the wrong food groups, I felt more energetic and I could concentrate better at work. It's an ongoing battle though cause recently, my discipline has slipped and I'm paying for it with an impaired digestive system and bloating. Bad girl... when I bloat, the whole world knows because my face blows up like a puffer fish! Don't give up, Stirry! One of my jolly good fella guy friend loves to pat-pat his tum-tum and declare, "Underneath this layer of fat is a six-pec waiting to be exposed!" I suppose it's never a one-size fits all approach. Your job does make it harder to live a healthier lifestyle. Just do what you can and only do stuff that can be realistically incorporated into your routine. Stirry, you already have a very sexy organ... your brain!

To be honest, I'm surprised at some of the responses in here. Next time you go to the supermarket and do a grocery shop for fresh meat, fruit and veggies, pay some attention to the cost and ask yourself if a single parent of 3 on Centrelink payments could afford this every fortnight. For some people out there, 2 minute noodles or McDonalds is the difference between whether they eat or not. It's survival for them. In rural remote areas, jobs are hard to come by and, when you do find one, it's all about who you know most of the time. It's also based on your family. If you're the sister of the guy who was high on ice and trashed someone's car by taking to it with a baseball bat on Friday night, chances are everyone in town will know about it and they won't want to know you because it was your brother. Let's say you're lucky enough to get a job. Maybe even a second one so you can pay off those debts that have been accumulating. By the time you get home from work, feed the kids, help with homework, get washing done, tidy up the house and make sure you and the kids are set for work and school tomorrow, you're too exhausted to even think about any physical activity. And how about looking around at the gym or even the morning and evening walkers. Most of them look great and it looks like there's barely an ounce of fat on them. How motivated would you be to head out there and fromp around amongst these stunners. How high do you think this makes your self esteem? For those who haven't met me face to face, I'm overweight. Some of you may cringe at the sight of me or others like me and, to be honest, I don't like how I look either, but if you choose that my physical imperfections make it not worthwhile getting to know me as a person, then it's best you don't because chances are I won't like you either but the difference is, I can change my weight and it's a lot harder for you to change that personality. Before I get any nasty replies to that, I'm not targeting anyone in particular. It's just a general comment. I go to the gym early in the morning or late at night, because that's when there's hardly anyone at the gym and I hate how I look in my workout clothes, but it's not going to come off on its own. I fall off the diet wagon more often than I care to admit and hate myself for that too. The way some of your comments have been written, I'm surprised you haven't requested there be a law that anyone over a certain size be jailed and forced to spend their days on a treadmill, chasing a piece of cake, and only being fed lettuce. Yes.....some of them really are that bad, but the saddest part is, some of you can't really see or understand that. I'm only thankful that there's only a small percentage of people in here that are like that as, so far, I've found most of the people in here to be absolutely lovely.

Ppl are very judgmental and often have the "blinkers" on to other ppl's situation. Most of the time they only want to hear what they want to hear. I had ppl like this amongst my family & friends, I no longer have anything to do with them. I don't have many friends or family left, but I know the 1's I do have understand my situation and standby me 100%. Cheers Paul.

My comment was in reply to the comments that came out in here. It was directly at you. But, if you want me to reply directly and address your initial post, I'm more than happy to do that. How is this possible, I believe is the question. My guess is that "normal" is appeared as "average" where the majority of figures of a certain weight range have been considered as "average".

What is normal anyway? And news flash people we are all going to die anyway, regardless of what you do and don't do, it's our one guarantee in life, so how about you just live it, love it and be happy in your our life. I'm a big girl, I was told for years how ugly, fat and horrible I was, that no one would ever love me and I was worthless, I absolutely hated myself, couldn't even look in the mirror. At my lightest I've been a size 10, at my heaviest a size 20, you know what, I still hated myself at a size 10 just as much when I was a size 20. Literally it has taken me years to look at myself differently, to learn to love me, now I'm a size 16 and I can look at myself in the mirror and guess what, I don't mind the sheila looking back at me, I actually think she's a beautiful woman. If you don't like what I look like, then that's your problem not mine and I don't really give a rats arse what people think. Because I believe we judge ourselves enough, to have to worry about other people judging us too.💋
