There are just too many of RE movies with the same idea, that is, Alice kicks zombie and some crazy humans’ arses to get to the core of Umbrella Corporation. Hence, I prefer the first and final instalments more, as they tell how it all began and ended 😀 - Posted from rhpmobile

Sweetgem, good morning! 😊 That scene at the opening... I've since learnt it's Shibuya crossing. The slow mo, people going about their daily lives, the visuals where the camera ascended and we saw the tops of the umbrellas, the one ?red umbrella that stood out with the girl standing still underneath it. The world whizzes by in fuzzy focus until one man locked eyes with her. Fatal decision! The one man who actually sees her, becomes her first victim. Suddenly, a scream, and the slow mo becomes real time with warped speed thrown in. The music gets louder... mayhem ensures... So very iconic... to me. 🤣 SA, I remember that crows scene. Super hate crows, the ugly things! 😑 There are two crows in my neighbourhood that have loud "conversations" early in the morning sometimes. Can't they msg each other quietly? 😜

I haven't seen a lot of recent ones I thought worthwhile but I did love "Split" mainly for James McAvoys portrayal of many personalities. Great piece of acting "Wer" was one I found was very watchable. Hey SA I saw you mentioned "The descent" I don't know if you or any one out there is a book lover but "The Descent" by Jeff Long is one of the best and creepiest horrors I've read. Gave it to a few mates and they had to give it back, just too much. The interesting thing is the film swears that it is not a ripoff of a stunning read but is ridiculously similar. I tend to think it was blatant plagiarism.

I loved Split. He was excellent for that role. I get The Descent confused with The Cave all the time. I haven't read the book you mentioned so I can't comment on any similarities but I may have to keep an eye out for it. I'm reading the last in my collection of Richard Laymon books. - Posted from rhpmobile

Crows. Well ravens (different species) as they generally are in Victoriaare quite stunning birds if you really look at them. Beautiful blue/black sheen to their feathers, show obvious intelligence in their eyes and for very good reason as they are one of the more intelligent birds. And you can sit and almost have a conversation with them. They have a bad reputation only from taking weak lambs and kids (baby goats that is) and often just the eyes. I also think that rep. is also from them being known as familiars or totems in spiritual wicca circles (perhaps one of the forum witches can elude to that more). Yep I'm a bird lover hahaha. Thought I was off topic but have often thought with todays technology and phobia of birds being a not so uncommon phobia the way cgi is now you could make one of the most frightening horrors in a remake of :The Birds". As it was a bit older I never thought much of the original. To me as scary as a bag of chips (good chips that is). There is a remake that is supposedly a bbc production. Remakes can be real bad though so maybe not.

Yes RE is based on a video game like Silent Hill. SH was a good movie although the acting wasn't exactly amazing. You just have to love Pyramid Head and his huge sword (And yes its an actual sword for you RHP perves 😉) and his army of minions, whatever they are. How good is the scene where she is walking down the steps, the sky goes dark, the air raid siren starts and she wanders around until shes confronted by the swarm of little disfigured creatures?! Pangolin. Not all remakes are terrible. Evil Dead is proof of that although the 2 movies have pretty much NOTHING in common. But for the most part remakes are almost always disappointing. I don't understand why they did a remake of Cabin Fever when the original wasnt that old and the new version was crap in comparison. Poltergeist was an amazing film for its time (and still is) but again the remake was rubbish. - Posted from rhpmobile

I recently watched the Blair Witch Project again and it spooked me just as much as when I first saw it. Perfect example of a film that uses psychological scares to maximum effect. I didn't like the recent sequel, too much of the 'Hollywood' crap and just didn't come close to the original in the tense atmosphere it created. BWP was also probably the film that really kicked off the found footage genre. For me, found footage can be hit or miss. Some of the better ones IMO include The Tunnel, Rec 1 and 2, As Above So Below, and a couple of the VHS instalments like Amateur Night and Save Haven.

I would have picked those exact movies as my favorites as well. I think the darkness of films like Rec, the tunnel and AASB have you constantly on edge. As far as remakes go I really liked Quarantine as well. I actually watched that first before I was even aware of Rec - Posted from rhpmobile

You guys HAVE to watch the Dyatlov Pass Incident and tell me what you think! 😃 It's based on a real-life ski incident in Russia where nine people on an expedition died under very mysterious circumstances. The scriptwriter took this as a basis for his movie, and extrapolated it into sci-fi horror territory. It is SO good. 😊

Yeah SA poltergeist has to be an all time favourite. I had no idea a remake existed. Evil dead is one of those that was good and as I have mentioned so is I spit on your grave. I think the only horror that has scared the absolute shit out of was Halloween. I was probably only twelve or so and it was a midnight flick back in the days when tv was actually entertaining. We lived in a three level house six bedrooms. I was in the farthest room on the third level by myself. Every ad break I would run down to the kitchen just to be in the company of the adults just for reassurance. Not the scariest of films these days. Ooh anyone remember the Aussie classic 'Razorback" damn good for its time

I never decide whether to watch a movie or not based on online reviews. Everyone raved about how good Mother and Get Out were and I personally disliked both. Mother was a recurring build up of dramatic scenes that ended up going nowhere each time and get out was just another 'hate the evil white man' flick. I'll get Dyatlov Pass today and let you know what I think. - Posted from rhpmobile

Spotted on JB Hi-Fi's shelf and just finished watching it. I'd classify it as Sci-Fi horror. It was a bit draggy at the start but oh my gosh, the pace sure picked up towards the end! SA, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Dyatlov Pass Incident will be your new fave. 😉 I replayed a few scenes immediately after I'd finished watching it, and I re- watched the entire movie again the next day. Hopefully, the new Conjuring will be much better than the last one! I'm looking forward to The Nun and Insidious. 😃 I know Pango and SA (or was it just Pango?) didn't enjoy the remake of Poltergeist... but I did! I didn't think of it as a remake but as a "new" movie, so I didn't make comparisons and enjoyed it for what it is. The original version was more "raw" though, more guttural without too much polished CGI.

...woken up from a long nightmare of horror movie proportions. 😦😟 There was a new world that had formed on top of the old world and most of us were unaware of that. So we go about our daily lives. But I felt something was a bit odd because the lifts to my high-rise apt building would always come up from underground looking really muddy and dirty. It was one of those old metal cage, see-through lifts. People would always go missing, or encounter mishaps in the lifts and the mortuary guys were always on standby by the lifts! 😓 One day, I found myself alone in the lift but as it was traveling up to my apt on the 23rd floor, I ripped off the buttons panel, and found a different set of buttons! This time they were for underground ... and they sure had massive level basements - it went deeeeep down! So I pressed B23 and the escalator whizzed down. When it went past the ground floor, people gasped when they saw the lift going underground. The door opened and I stepped out tentatively. I had found myself in a different world! 🤤🤤🤤 It was an exact mirror image of the new world... wait! It was our "Old World"! It was a parallel world under the New World but it had become a very strange world because we had to share it with dark ghouls and all manner of sinister creatures that lurked in the night! 🤤🤤🤤 I started running, hiding, escaping, and trying to unravel the mystery. My heart was pounding so hard that I woke up suddenly. 😫😯😦 Very creepy nightmare! The Old World had the general feel of Rigor Mortis with some spooky chant in the background and where things felt simultaneously real and unreal. 😯 Best thing to do after a nightmare is cuddles and a good morning quickie. No one to do the honours today... shucks! 😜

What a nightmare! 😬 hope you took a cold shower and had a glass of warm water after waken up from the nightmare. Your nightmare reminds me of my own nightmares that I had during my separation/divorce time! I was always trapped in the nightmares, but always escaped with the help of strangers. My medium friends said the strangers were indeed my protecting Angel in disguise of different faces. It began to make more sense after I had the convo with my medium friends. Was ok to me, but that is purely my opinion because, as someone who can connect with the beings from the other side of the world, no ghost movies like that can scare me anymore 😛 Therefore, the psychological scare that can really put me on the edge of my chair nowadays comes from movies like The Hills Have Eyes, Wolf Creek, The Hostel, etc. because these things can happen in real life and they are caused by human’s doing, even if those humans are deformed, they’re still humans and nothing is scarier than humans these days! 😬😬 - Posted from rhpmobile

The first horror I saw that I recall was as a kid about 7 my father was secretary of a foreign film group. I doubt that anyone has seen this film but if someone has please let me know what it is called. I think it was Canadian maybe French Canadian but the story was of a newly married couple who built their cabin in the forest on a mountain. Daily lives and all not much horror going on but the ending was extreme. They had a window he had not got around to barring and while he was out hunting a cougar came through the window and mauled his wife and dragged her back out, from memory it was an awesome film. Needless to say from 5-13 I probably saw more horrific films than most have in their lives. Thanks for being a dumb fuck father

Are pretty gross graphically 🤮🤮 and sick in the head that some psycho humans would torture their own kind by throwing them to zombies for entertainment! I saw one last year, which I forgot the title, which is about a deformed psychopath who captures and locks up every woman he can find and rapes them repeatedly while the world out there is in a zombie apocalypse! He would also purposely turn some of the women into zombies and rape them, simply because he wants to compare the excitement between raping human women and zombie women! So sick that I nearly vomited during watching it! Gross and sick! 🤮🤢 - Posted from rhpmobile

Loved it too actually Mel Gibson has done some fine films surprisingly. Watched it several times and also love the soundtrack. If you liked that one have you seen Mongol another fav. and stunning soundtrack. My 500 gig external drive is dead and I can't get to my weird arse film collection hopefully I can transfer them to a new one when I get it, should have a butt load of horror, thrillers and plain old pshycho films to list.

For your kind words 🙏🏼 Watching horror movies is good for when I need distraction lol I rewatched the Apocalypto last night and was grateful that I wasn’t born in that era and tribe! 😬 the cruelty of those uncivilised humans is very inhuman! I couldn’t sit still towards the ending part (where Jaguar Paw was chased by the group of evil humans) the first time I saw that film, it was tense that I had to move up and down in my hotel room a bit 😅😅 - Posted from rhpmobile

For your kind comment 🙏🏼 It’s nature of life, nothing can change that no matter how much, or little, we grieve in the moment as such 😔 - Posted from rhpmobile

I managed to grab the last copy of The Autopsy of Jane Doe! Luckily the two JB Hi-Fi branches were close to each other in the city! The lights are off, the volume is up, and I'm going to watch the movie tonight! Even the cashier, who claims not to like horror movies, approved of my purchase and said she loved the movie herself! OK, ssshhhh... it's screening now! 😛

Sorry, I didn't read your msg till now! It didn't appear when I posted mine. Three deaths is really shocking! You know, there's a Chinese saying a friend told me - if a person isn't supposed to cross into the Chinese New Year, they'll pass on before CNY. 😔 I hope they will all R.I.P.

It was a great movie but I had already guessed before watching that she's somehow still alive, and that she's a witch. 😛🙃 So there were scares, but no surprises as to who she was. 😉

Here's what happened... mid- movie, I went out to look at the Full Moon. Tried to take a photo and on my camera screen, I saw two orbs! 😓🤤😨 I know ghosts and spirits enjoy the Yin energy of the Full Moon, so I'm going to stay indoors for the rest of the night! 🤤

When we first saw Apocalypto we liked it so much that we thought that was the best Gibson film ever made and good horror film. Then, we watched it again and what we noticed is the nastiness of subtle political messaging. Without spoiling it for all those who haven't seen it, just for you to know, it is not only a horror film. It is a political and religious statement made to deceive. Historically incorrect. It confuses Maya's and Inka's civilisations while representing christians as their saviours, while forgetting all the bloodshed they brought. It is unfair and insulting towards Indigenous populations of Central America.(Ms)
