My oldest moved out on Thursday. Miss him. However I got a text from him last night at 1:30 thanking me for teaching him how to cook and eat well. He made fresh Vietnamese rice rolls for dinner for himself and his housewares. It vu was yummy n healthy. They sent me pics with thumbs up. This thank you message melted my heart and made me realise he will do ok on his own. Actually more than ok. 👍 ☺

Ah, but Jennifer...that's because the original line-up of the Gunners had started leaving in 94, their last album together in 93. For over 20 years it's been the Axl and Co. show...and a bit sad they've been, I hear. I've not been interested either. Sounds like they've rebuilt some bridges...temporarily at least. Rock legends..

Went to get over Donnington in 88.....Which was awful!!!! And that was the original line up. They were young, inexperienced then so I let them off. By 90s they were all ego and arguing. Hopefully age has mellowed then but not the music.

Prior to hitting the "Post..." button on my last wrt this subject line, I didn't look to see just how much text there was. The size of that may have dissuaded some from reading, considering, or chiming in. Then again, perhaps people are taking a leaf from Isocrates' book: "Let there be but two occasions for speech - when the subject is one which you thoroughly know and when it is one on which you are compelled to speak. On these occasions alone is speech better than silence; on all others, it is better to be silent than to speak." Isocrates (436 BC - 338 BC) FWIW, it seems to me both sides of the debate are deeply flawed. Both sides are heavily drawing on highly emotive argument and cheap political point scoring, and personal attacks; none of which will serve to effectively serve the "Pro" side, or assuage the fears of the "Con" side. As another old saying goes: "If nothing changes, everything will remain the same." My own experience tells me the most effective means of prosecuting any case/debate/argument is to know and consider all of the angles, and prepare for objections to your own position ahead of time by means of rational, evidence based counter-argument. Typically, the greater the scale and complexity of the problem, the greater the opportunity to introduce supporting evidence. Unfortunately it is also the case that scale and complexity tempts ad hominem attack by the weak and/or unscrupulous. I understand, acknowledge and expect there are many participants on this site who support same sex marriage. I can also see that simply declaring it the right thing to do will not be sufficient to overcome the fear (perhaps even loathing) of those who would oppose the passage of Law. It appears to me even those who argue in favour of a Parliamentary vote rather than a Plebiscite seem to do so because either: they fear they are themselves incapable of mounting a successful and rational prosecution of their own case; or they hold grave doubts as to the intelligence and integrity of the citizens entitled to vote in a plebiscite. Whatever the facts on that score, I would suggest the quality of both sides of the debate thus far has been somewhat feeble, disrespectful and disingenuous.

Isocrates was another/different man. It is not for no reason I've sought to learn from the classics. Whilst times, ways, and means all are subject to change, true wisdom is said to be timeless. If we don't learn from the past, we're condemned to making all the same old mistakes. Not all lessons must be learned the hard way, or first-hand.

I'm not formally trained in Philosophy, and by no means expert. For years now I've done a little reading and thinking each day incidental to other studies. Some of my study has been by necessity; some purely for pleasure or satisfaction of my own curiosity. I don't believe, agree, or subscribe to every idea/concept I read, but I do find it useful in gaining better understanding of so many different matters. So much modern knowledge is founded on classic thinking. I've grown increasingly aware some of the most glaring failures and injustices we see in society today (and other times throughout history) may be attributed to neglect of some basic principles established thousands of years ago. I still have much to learn. As I go about my studies, I try to share what I can where I see it might also help someone else.

Rather, I hope it is a sarcastic expression of frustration/exasperation. Someone's feigning of illness is a despicable act. Depending upon specific circumstances, it might actually constitute fraud. Likewise, it is illegal to pass oneself off as any form of professional requiring formal qualification, licensing, registration, and insurance. Anyone who does that is unworthy of you Peachy. Whilst my studies include Law, I have previously declared I am not (yet) finished or admitted to practice. I have been quite careful to cite references as appropriate when I have posted to the forum anything relating to legal issues or concepts. Certainly (most) all Australian Law Acts, Regs, Gazettes and Law Journals are freely available to read and/or download, as is a significant amount of Case Law should people be interested to take a look for themselves. My engineering career has spanned Military, Industrial and Medical technologies. I have worked near fifteen years since my career progression to the Medical industry, but never have I proffered specific health advice which would require clinical qualifications beyond Senior First Aid level. My own health is pretty good (given my current age, some misspent youth, and some punishing previous workplace practices). My photos are genuine. Some are date-stamped. As was the case with the subject of Catfishing, I get a bit twitchy at the risk of false accusations. (As Waylon Jennings sang: "I've been busted for things that I did, and I didn't do". I still find that second part a bit hard to cop!) BuckleUp

Nothing like taking people on an emotional merry-go-round via lies and making excuses not to meet. Engaging people on here on the pretence of someome else and soon to be found out that after investing our time, trust and energy and extending our friendship to them, that they are not what they seem. It makes us question our filter and our standards and ability to judge and trust people. So many self-examining questions are raised. Although nothing malice has eventuated, it could also have turned the other way where people could lose more than trust, i.e. financial loss, etc. So I do understand what Peachy means.

From my maths class, the quickest way from point a to b is the simple straight line. That applies to conveying ideas and messages without sounding esoteric nor frivolous. appreciate the effort you put in and I think you like writing and going into minute details but not everyone has the propensity nor time to read extended messages in their spare time. I save that patience for work. But that is only my opinion.

My various posts may be intended for either/or anyone, everyone, or specific individuals (and sometimes a combination). It is important to not lose sight of certain key facts, amongst which you might consider: * Everything each of us posts (or says or does) in any forum may remain available for scrutiny by an indeterminate range of people for an indeterminate period of time. As such, there is potential for adverse consequences (many of which may be anticipated). * Whether the forum is physical or internet does not matter; it all is real life (despite the BS contended by some). Therefore, careful wording of posts is not only justified; it is advisable. This particularly the case for contentious matters. Many of the disagreements and disputes in this (and other fora) are a direct consequence of poor or misinterpreted communication. Contentious, controversial or otherwise sensitive matters warrant careful, considered wording to ensure subtlety and nuance are correctly, unambiguously conveyed. Clearly conveying a message concerning such matters does sometimes necessarily require attention to detail - precisely because of the propensity of some people to take only a cursory/superficial approach to matters they do not understand, or for which they do not recognise the significance/impacts/consequences. You might now wish to reread and consider the Isocrates quote I offered previously. Your glib comments may reflect poorly on you in the eyes of the indeterminate number of "lurkers" people frequently mention, but seemingly fail to carefully consider.

Depending upon exactly what your experience was with the 'scumbag', it may still be worth mentioning something to the mods. If his behaviour was truly 'suspicious', you may have grounds to say something. If it did not just meet with your expectations, then as Summer said, it's he said - she said. You never know, reporting someone may just save someone else further down the track. Use your judgement to see what the appropriate course of action should be. Tall

I actually struggle with this concept but she is one of Britains most celebrated artists. In the early 1900s Marcel Duchamp famously exhibited a toilet. Damien Hirst is another British artist who is celebrated for his work, dead sharks in fish tanks. All of these artists IMO challenge our concepts of the role of the artist in society, and how we respond to their work. I do not dispute that, but of course Art is highly subjective. I've often identified and agreed with the statement "I don't know Art, but I know what I like". There is a broad variety of work I do appreciate. There is also a broad array of exhibited materials I would class a grotesque waste of perfectly good resources (sometimes in more ways than one). In my own opinion, that Tracie Emin piece is one such example. I should point out, I refer not only to the aesthetics of any particular work. Certainly, the price you cite as being paid for the Tracie Emin piece demonstrates the Art Market is full of BS, and suckers soon parted with their money. (She must have laughed her arse off!) Easy come, easy go for some Art Buyers I guess...

Quoting 'Summersolstice' No matter how bad they are. It makes me happy to see someone else in a good mood. I cannot carry a tune to save my life, but that will never stop me. I completely agree with you, Summer. I was cleaning up at work an hour ago and in a fine mood to turn the stereo to full and sing it loud and proud.I thought I did a rather good backup to Take Thats "Back for Good." I have a much deeper voice than Gary Barlow, but I don't think he would be ashamed of my efforts. I'm not..

what a wonderful night in Melbourne town with a date with my fwb met afterwork for drinks at a popular sophisticated bar in Melb. place was packed and i got in early and saved a place by the cavernous fireplace. Smiles and cheeky banter from minute one, chatting and fun banter over red wine. 2 hours later, the bar was near empty except for us. where did the time go? Then he whisked me off to an exquisite restaurant in the Parisian part of Collins st, with trees gloriously lit up with fairy lights. Nothing like walking in a cool evening with great company. another 2 hours, we were again just a handful of the patrons left as the restaurant staff started clearing the tables and preparing for next day. Perfect night with sophisticated company. even if my feet started hurting in my heels with all that walking. Fantastic night, fantastic company. Some men are worth waiting for.

Apparantly a whole heap of them fell from the sky earlier last century. to see you back on board again EB. I have things constantly falling on my roof too. I live right next door to a park with lots of trees, and have powerlines out front. Tall

Apparently Sydney has a new club just for women "Skirt Club, a private members club for bi-curious women opens in Sydney" "Skirt Club is for ladies only. It hosts a private members network for the curious kind; both in mind and sexuality. Skirt Club promotes glamour; free-flowing champagne, burlesque performers and… much more." Party tomorrow night, with a dress code. DRESS: Regal in red and black. OMG Sounds fun! Has anyone been? ^^

This scullery maid only heard about the event and the party just before I posted it. Might take me more than a day to uncover my regalness, a dress, a handmaiden or two to join me. Guess I'll report to the kitchens and see if cook will want to fondle my skirts again

I receive the flirt message that says "I've got some free time. Please contact me if you would like to meet".....Well, no answer is my answer because I would not like to meet! 😜 - Posted from rhpmobile

Quoting 'PepperRose'"Skirt Club, a private members club for bi-curious women opens in Sydney" I saw that article (advertorial?) on Daily Life, surely "first" is a stretch, I'm sure I've seen women only events advertised before - isn't this being run at private residences (not a proper club like OSS or CC)?

Yeah, true. Advertorials don't tend to let the truth get in the way of a good story. Wonder if it is the first sign-up-to-this-'exclusive'-website type club? Like the KK parties. Though, I wonder if Twisted Chic parties would be considered a similar event. Regardless, their parties themes still look like a bit of fun. Wondering if there are any skirt'ers in RHP - and if anyone has been to their parties? Oh, and maybe I could come clean - I'm not really a scullery maid, even if I don't mind my skirt occasionally fondled.

I believe Chaucer's word for scullery maid was slut 😇Q
