when people used to put bottles of water on their lawn because they thought it would stop dogs from peeing on it, something about not fouling clean drinking water..? I guess they worked out eventually that dogs don't drink bottled water.

Lol - I love this topic!! I love the 80's. The music was the best! It had the best beat to dance too! And the video clips were so groovy. Big hair, fluro clothes n the clothes in general! No mobile phones, no iPods, no iPads, laptops, there were some computer games like pacmen but you had to go out side and use your imagination for play! You had to ride your bike, walk or telephone a friend to see them or tell them something or even write a letter! The 80's were my high school yrs - lots of memories!! Love the 80's!

80s Glam rock & hair metal bands were the coolest...and STILL are!!!! These bands at least looked like performers and stars, they made an effort and didn't just walk onstage looking like they just rolled out of bed. That horrid creation called Nirvana & Grunge have a lot to answer for!! They killed rock n roll in the 80s!

Three bands not so far mentioned are Eurythmics, Dire Straits and INXS. All three had their earliest big hits in the 1980s. Much of what has been mentioned so far is current "80's theme party" cliches, and not so much what someone my age remembers of the 1980s.That was the time of Reagan and Thatcher and the Falklands War, and Gorbachev.... of "Neunundneunzig Lufbalons" and Solidarnosc... of Antmusic and Kate Bush. It was also the time when dialup bulletin board systems slowly began to be connected to an emerging something called the Internet. I could go on...

More than meets the eye.Ok, so for some of us the eighties were less about sexy times and more about mastering the basic functions of walking, talking, using a toilet and deciding which dinosaur we wanted to be when we grew up.I'm happy to say I've resolved at least two of those challenges. And FYI, a pterodactyl is not a dinosaur, it's a pterosaur.

Quoting 'Enigmaoflove' * Backyard cricket * thongs (the ones on the feet lol) * the moonwalk * walk like an egytian Hahahah! That brings back so many funny memories: I remember I was playing with my best friend Jamie, I was wicket keeper, but I was too close to the wickets (upside down rubbish bin - the round one not wheelie ones lol) Jamie took a swing and smacked me in the head with the cricket bat!!!! OUCH!!!!! It was not plastic..... Oh god, she's hurt again that's the end of the fun. I was always the way lol!! That's being the girl for ya. HahaI also remember out roller skating at the back of his house and climinbing trees, somehow I fell out of the tree and ripped my hand open- Oh god, she's hurt again that's the end of the fun.... All I remeber is he dissappearing cause i was screaming about all the blood - thanks!!! Then he makes the claim I was climbing the tree with my rollerskates on!! So was not .... I'm sure ... who would be that silly??Kylie Minogue: Locomotion!!!!Quoting 'MsBlu' Scratch 'n Sniff Stickers OMG, so cool ... reminds me of strawberry short cake and that smell!!!I was way to young to suck cock to Billy Idol. Rather I was showing him mine if he showed me his ... and "if you lay on top of me like this then I can feel yours and you can feel mine at the same time" lol .... oh the wonders of bath time Nice memories! Thank you .... this special friend of mine died of a drug overdose @ 17. We were in a room in the grungy 90's and he said "I bet you'd never of thought you see me do this" as he was shot up. I was there waiting for my first hit. As soon as he said this, I upped the room and left and I have never ever touched the needle. - Sorry for the little dampner, but it felt really nice to remeber him. xx Cassandra

Nothing like being smashed by a 1 wood while your friend is having a practice swing. The blood was pouring down me face i looked liked a blast victim lol. Then got hit in the head playing grade cricket (without a helmet) lol. There is nothing like the sound of a hard cricket ball smashing into the melon lol.

I'm an 80's baby, so for me I spent it generally learning how to be a functioning human being. However, I do remember puffy padded headbands which were pulled back then pushed forward to create that delightful bump in the hair behind the full fringe... oh my lord! fleuro clothing, hypercolour t-shirts, my mother making my older sister and I wear the same clothing like twins (WTF?), Fat Cat, Punky Brewster, scratch n' sniff books/stickers and crimping my hair. I still have my mother's original 80's crimper, complete with old school telephone style spring cord! Not sure how much of what I remember transcends into the early 90's but fuck me, the 90's were worse than the 80's IMO.

Umm.. I am not sure I ever got out of them.. I wore blue levis black t shirts.. long hair and a beard.. I was cut and buff. worked like a dog and fought like a man Maybe that wasn't FROM the 80's.. but MY times don't seem to have changed.. I listen to the same style of music.. i still dress teh same, I still wear the long hair and beard I still have a passion for sex, and a penchant to fight. I still ride an 80's harley Still racist and bigotted.. still oppinionated, and obnoxious :) *grins*

Guys wearing nice tight Levis that showed off their arse, instead of horrible baggy jeans showing most their undies at the top like they do these days.

For me it was: Jelly Sandals, ra ra skirts, scrunchies, madonna, wham, cyndi lauper, devo, the knack, allllllll the big hair rock bands, The A Team, Knight Rider, the Americas Cup, any movie that had the 80's brat pack (rob lowe, demi moore, ally sheedy), any movie with Molly Ringwald, BMX, stone wash denim, you could go on!!! Like what enigma said not the sexiest decade but it was good fun!!!!
