When I first ended my relationship I was so emotionally damaged and depressed that the urge for sexual relaease would only happen once every three or four months or so. The concept of having sex with another person was totally repugnant for a good two years. I have a female friend who is in her sixties, still very bitter over the death of her husband and salready gone through menopause. She has absolutely no sex drive at all and would not maturbate. Apart from that, it is a normal part of life yes. I know one guy that doesn't masturbate despite having a normal libido. He has to have the perfect setting - no housemates at home, no noise, no stress, no job hassles, be in the right mood etc. and since he can't get that he doesn't bother.
