he maybe remembered for all the wrong reasons however that is our individual choice i for one think he is a twat. we all believe the documents that were released on wiki were indeed coverups. this maybe so, however these documents were subject to confidential classification for a reason (rightly or wrongly) the man is a twat,as a teen he hid behind mummy for whatever wrong doing he was being investigated for, now as a fully grown man/boy he origonally tried to fight extradition to sweden in the british courts when this failed he then runs and hides in the equadorian embasy claming political asylum, time to grow up, to the best of my knowledge sweden doesn't have an extradition treaty with the US i may be wrong but i cant say i have heard that the US were going to seek extradition from sweden anyway however this may have been the case. how do we know that these alledged documents were ficticious in the first instance we do not know for certian one way or the other, we do know that assange is a very clever resorceful individual, it also fact that he is a genius when it comes to computers so is it at all possible that some of these documents are a work of fiction. should the australian govt have done anything to help assange? why should they, do we know for a fact that he sought assistance from australia? we are all saying there has been misinformation given to us by respective govt's. there is no denying that is the case is it possible wikileaks has given us some missinformation. think about it. were ADF personnel's lives put at risk, ultimately yes as our servicemen and women have been in the middle east and afganistan for longer than we believe, some of these personnel have been serving with the US military for sometime. hands up all those whom think we have rights in this country? short answer is you really dont have the rights you think you have. we like to think we have the right to free speach guess again because if you say something about anything or anyone and they happen to dislike what you are saying or if you are wrong in what you say then guess what happens, you have the right to behave and conform to some extent to what society expects. watch the flake i am probably going to cop now

I like what his done, he shook our comfy chairs. Through all the history, all men and women who have been executed in there time for exposing their government at the time, have been prosecuted by the population, because 95% of us don’t want to see. And people who are in the military are not there to think just to obey, because when we would think no one would go anymore to war. War is a money maker and that’s it. To justify war our politicians have to sell us something. So don’t kid yourself, the truth is out there but we will only hear it through people like him. Litonya

On which side of the fence you are looking at it from.If you take away all his actions and look at his personality; he seems to be an arrogant egomaniac who is a radical spokesperson for Free Speech. In MY OPINION, there are good and bad points to what he has done. The Americans are out to get him and the far left our out to make him a hero.

Freedom of speech Australians are free, within the bounds of the law, to say or write what we think privately or publicly, about the government, or about any topic. We do not censor the media and may criticise the government without fear of arrest. Free speech comes from facts, not rumours, and the intention must be constructive, not to do harm. There are laws to protect a person's good name and integrity against false information. There are laws against saying or writing things to incite hatred against others because of their culture, ethnicity or background. Freedom of speech is not an excuse to harm others. That is from a goverment website. Does that sound like "Freedom" to you, mate?

not sure about free speech or "freedom". As long as we respect each other and each others boundries (including personal space) without harming anyone I think we'd all get along fine without bombing, invading, lying, having to cover up stuff, arguing ect. Not sure about the term "freedom", it's a pretty loose term, but human rights, justice and apathy makes a whole lot of sense to me.

cheers ff. I usually look up the dictionary for words not the constitution, but I guess I should if commenting on something on freedom/freedom of speech. Respect is something I think we all understand without having the govt categorise it with their bullshit...or maybe they have. I'm not big on policy. Section 18c I'll have a gander, forgive my ignorance. (and that was from memory...you're good)
