well done the quiters!!

May 09 2012

in 2009 i had a wonderful FWB who was a smoker. i usually avoid smokers, but she was something special, so i weakened. then, after about 9 months, she decided to quit. for the first time since she was 14. i was amazed and in awe. kicking a 35 year habit is really something. the up side, apart from the lack of shitty morning breath, was that her skin lost about 6 years in age over the next few months. just wonderful.i was reminded of this story while reading a profile, just then, where the woman gave a warning she could be cranky as she had just given up smoking. WELL FUCKING DONE ANNA!!so i declare this the say well done to quitters thread. if you know someone quitting or thinking about it. encourage them here..

yes....if you can do it......job well done! and you wont regret it either.....everything smells and tastes so much nicer too!i gave up, after 29 years, was smoking 50 plus a day and never thought i could do it.....but i awoke on Australia Day2003 and decided then and there that I was a smoker no more..... screwed my pack of fags up, and went cold turkey...and 2 years later, had my stroke....had i still been smoking, I imagine my recovery wouldn't have been as easy, or as complete.....so far so good....................

I quit smoking. I had smoked since I was 12 years old. 25 a day for most of those years. It is without a doubt the hardest thing I have ever done and to this day I would find it so easy to pick up a cigarette and smoke again .....BUT.......I know I would be right back to the 25 a day within weeks. What made me quit? A documentary on the tobacco industry where the industry giants admitted that they knew back in the '40's that if you smoked as a pre-teen then the chances of you ever quiting successfully were slim to none. . NO ONE TELLS ME THAT I CAN NOT DO SOMETHING!!!!!! . I gave up while living with a man who smoked 40 a day and I noticed the difference in my health within three days. Smoking never effected my sense of smell or my sense of taste. Today I am in another relationship with a man who smokes and it does not bother me in the slightest.

After being a smoker for my teenage, 20's & some of my 30's I quit in 2000 after many unsuccessful attempts but now looking back.....It was the best thing I ever did !!!My sense of taste and smell came back not that I knew I had lost them....my energy levels improved dramatically, my skin is gorgeous and it took 10 years off my age (so they tell me.....lol)Now I find I just cannot be with a smoker at all, the smell just makes me sick but that is life.So congrats to all those who have given up smoking or whatever addiction you had.....you are so much better off without them.
