sex

We here on RHP always do or should always practice SAFE sex .. when playing with randoms/casuals/or groups etc etc etc .. .there has been so much hype on recent posts about STI / STD .. and all things which can be acquired / passes from one sex partner to another .. .So I'm asking .. what is your current general knowledge on STI's / STD's .. Considering there is a minimum of 25 different forms of STI's / STD's .. all of which have different conditions / problems / indications that show you may have it / them .. and definitely different methods of treatment .. .So here I ask .. Can people over the next few weeks .. list at least ONE STI/STD that they know of .. and any associated information you might have such as how transmitted/symptoms 'DO NOT LIST TREATMENT .. this is a DOCTORS job to prescribe ... .Try not to cheat and use Google or any other search engine ... this is a GENERAL KNOWLEDGE question ..

You have obviously been in the industry a few bits we have heard about this sexually transmitted virus HPV. 1/ Its a lifetime infection. 2/There is no cure. 3/ It doesnt take sex to catch it. 4/Any Genitial contact you can catch it. 5/Any skin contact from mid thighs to mid adomen you are at risk. 6/Condoms are ineffective. 7/Do the free clinics do blood tests to determine infection routinely or is it a visual thing ....burn off a few visibile warts? 8/47% active teenagers are infected with HPV.....USA. 9/ The most cancerous strains of HPV dont show visible warts. 10/ You can be a carrier infecting others with no symptoms....again do the sex clinics test for these HPV stains with blood tests or a visible ....burn off a few warts? 11/ HPV is killing more women in the USA than HIV. 12/ HPV is 2nd highest cause of cancer with women in the USA.   This STI / virus does not take sex its any genitail contact...mid thighs to mid adomen as a guide. This is the No:1 Sexually transmitted virus. Appears this sexually transmitted virus is far far more dangerous for women vs men.   How did we go Celebree? We believe a vaccine to prevent may have been introduced recently but does that cure? If I pre empt that HPV is not routinely tested for with this one the frequent testing advise and condoms is flawed. Not saying dont use condoms, just dont fool yourself!

You know... occasionally guys take condoms off while your back is turned and you end up with a shot of hot jizz where you least expect it. I say you can never be too careful.Crabs.... they like to hang out in warm moist places and they lay eggs (nits) on hair follicles... you can feel them, eventually, when there's enough of them... moving around in your hair. They can infest your nether regions, but can also unusually, hand out in your eyebrows. You can see them when you look close but they camoflage well... being skin toned. You can transfer them easily, in clothing for instance, or more usually by rubbing uglies... or rubbing your face in someone's uglies :+ they're easily treated once discovered, by using a lice shampoo... or scabies cream... a couple of applications, all over, and they're gone. If you are a frequent player, it's best to leave a crab bait out for them... like an unshaven happy trail.. but shaven everywhere else, Having no hair will+ not prevent them... but the happy trail+ will+ ENTICE THEM... SO YOU can keep an eye on the trail for any nasties the day after you've been out. What a delightful topic. thankyou for sharing. I'm pretty busy at the moment.. so wont be around much. Have fun... clean fun... make sure you have a friend keeping an eye on your lovers.. especially those that would remove their condoms while you arent watching... and adios!HugsStalky

Well go and be busy then! :PI know that Chlamydia is an often symptom-less disease that you can have undetected for many years unless swabbed for it. It can cause sterility in women. I'm happy to say I know this not from personal experience.

I was so going to cheat 'n' Google - having flashbacks to high school biology!! We covered this topic then along with the "make a list of all the slang names you know for male/female genitals". I never do bareback with casuals - I still remember all those community announcements in the 70's scaring the heebeegeebees out of everyone - some of you may remember them - the grim reaper ads for HIV - Oh so not nice KK x

I was gonna do crabs. lol. Once had a very hairy friend and his bad dose of crabs covered his whole body...lol. But that was the '80s and a whole different story. Then I was gonna do Chlamydia as I didnt know much about it and asked my Gyno last time I was in for a check. However to fill the blanks in on chlamydia Often called the silent disease because many are not aware of the symptoms or they are so light no one recognises them. It can lead to further complications forwomen of child bearing age. It can spread to other organs and yet is easily treatable. It is a bacterial infection that s spread through oral, anal or vaginal sex so anyone who is sexually active can catch it. It can also be passed to a baby during normal births. Symptoms are: it hurts when you pee a discharge from the vagina or penis pains in the stomache can hurt when having intercourse My gyno says it is most prevalent in the teens and the aboriginal community. Use of condoms can stop the spread of clamydia or abstaining from sex. Ha ha ha like that is gonna happen. I got tested anyway.

Trichomoniasis is a STI caused by a parasite. It affects both women and men, but symptoms are more common in women. Symptoms in women include a green or yellow discharge from the vagina, itching in or near the vagina and discomfort with urination. Most men with trichomoniasis don't have any symptoms, but it can cause irritation inside the penis. In men, the infection usually goes away on its own without causing symptoms. But an infected man can continue to infect or reinfect a woman until he gets treated. So it's important that both partners get treated at the same time. Correct usage of latex condoms greatly reduces, but does not eliminate, the risk of catching or spreading trichomoniasis.

Yes it is warm .. Don't give up yet Fionabee .. its still all good fun .. Justenough .. Yes I have some employment hystory in women's health .. along with orthopaedics .. THE PHV VIRUS .. you were very close .. Human papillomaviruses (HPVs) are a group of more than 150 related viruses, of which more than 40 can be sexually transmitted. Some sexually transmitted HPVs cause genital warts, whereas others, called high-risk or oncogenic HPVs, can cause cancer.Genital HPV infections are very common, but most occur without any symptoms and go away without any treatment over the course of a few years.Sometimes, HPV infections can persist for many years. Persistent infections with high-risk HPVs are the primary cause of cervical cancer and anal cancer. HPV infections also cause some cancers of the vulva, vagina, penis, and oropharynx. The FDA has approved two vaccines, Gardasil® and - targets 4 strains .. and is aimed at the 12-26 yr old male and femaleCervarix®, targets 2 strains and is aimed at the 26-40y/o female basicallythat are highly effective in preventing persistent infections with the two HPV types that cause most cervical and anal cancers. Gardasil also prevents infection with the two HPV types that cause most genital warts.FIONABEE .. it is usually cystitis which causes the pain - tingling sensation when peeing UTI ,, but it does cause pain on intercourse and some vaginal / cervix bleeding .. Stalky .. good one . a lot of people tend to forget about the Crabs .. Playfulminx .. very good .. yes it can remain undetected for many years .. thus making it near impossible for some people to know from whom that caught it .. and makes mandatory tracing a nightmare for the health profession ..Keepingkarma .. and with Chlymadia and HIV on the increase and the high number of immigrants who find nothing wrong in knowingly and intentionally infecting women with the HIV. Virus .. the GRIM Reaper Ads are about to be revamped for our younger generation.6 down .. 19 to go ...

The easy ones (Chlamydia) are taken so I will choose a harder one:Technically genital herpes is caused by the virus Herpes Simplex type II but in this day and age of widely practised oral sex it is just as often caused by Herpes Simplex type I which is mostly associated with cold sores on the lips or mouth. The number of people in the world infected by one or other of these viruses is somewhere around 30% or greater (I cannot use Google so can't check this fact.) The scary part about that is that means that statistically 1 in 3 of the people you play with will be infected. Other pieces of information about Herpes; It is usually transmitted when a person has an active sore (this can be on the mouth or the genitals)You CAN catch it by kissing an infected person or having oral sex with an infected personIt is possible to catch it when a person is developing a sore but there is no evidence of the sore. You can get cold sores in other places than lips or genitals, eg chin, anus. The test for herpes only shows exposure to the virus not an actual infection. If you test positive and don't have symptoms you may or may not have an infection and be able to infect someone else. I am not surprised by Just Enough's comments. It seems most people like to do the ostrich thing when it comes to this topic. People need to realise that pretending it won't happen is not an acceptable preventative measure. Not only will you fool yourself but you will be a danger to all your partners as well. Get informed and get tested!!!!!!!

Mr and Mrs Jones, The non sexual cold sores I am wondering what people do who get the occasional outbreak. My understanding is cold sores cannot be cured only managed and if these people can infect others before the sores appear........... What are they meant to do? Can the sexual variety be cured? But then say in a couple one may get cold sores and the other never does????????   We imagine swingers would not play with outbreaks, we would be pretty pissed off if we were playing and noticed sores in the genitail area or cold sores. Sounds like its just another risk we chose to take if we play and again condoms wont work for this one.

Cold sores (herpes labialis) are small blisters that usually form on the lips or skin around the mouth, nose and on the chin. They are caused by infection with the herpes simplex virus (HSV). People are usually infected in childhood or young adulthood, and the infection persists for life. Herpes simplex infection is very common Around 90 per cent of adults have herpes simplex antibodies in their bloodstream, which means that they have been infected with the virus at some time. However, the first (or primary) infection does not usually cause any symptoms. One-third of infected people experience cold sores, which are a recurrence of the earlier infection and do not indicate recent infection. Most of these people would not have experienced symptoms from the first infection. Symptoms of a primary HSV infection For some people (mainly children) infected with HSV, the first infection can cause symptoms. These can include: Fever Tiredness Blisters (lesions) and ulcers in and around the mouth Swelling Pain inside the mouth and on the gums A sore throat Swollen neck glands. The symptoms can last up to 14 days and may cause dehydration, especially in young children, because it is painful to swallow. Such primary infections are more likely to be severe in newborn babies, people with atopic dermatitis (often called eczema) and in people whose immune system is suppressed. Triggers In some people the HSV infection causes cold sores, which erupt following a trigger event such as a cold. This explains the term ‘cold sore’. Other triggers that may cause an attack of cold sores include: Feverish illnesses, like influenza, or chest infections Sunlight Exposure to windy conditions Hormonal changes, such as the menstrual period Emotional or physical stress. It is important to remember that cold sores are a symptom of ongoing infection rather than primary infection. The sores usually recur in the same place. Cold sore symptoms Cold sores usually develop as follows: Most people experience localised itching and tingling a day or two before the cold sore appears. A collection of small blisters forms. These blisters can be accompanied by pain, tenderness and a sensation of heat and burning. The blisters burst after a few days. The site develops a crust. The crust dries up and eventually falls off after about 10 days. Complications Cold sores are an annoying problem for most people, but they get better without any specific treatment. However, in people with some types of immunosuppression, the cold sores can spread more widely and the symptoms can be more severe. Medication may be required in these cases. Uncommon complications that require medical attention include bacterial infections, with possible symptoms including redness around the blisters, pus in the blisters and fever. Cold sores can also spread to the eyes, fingers or other parts of the body. A cold sore in the eye causes a painful, red eye. Immediate medical attention should be sought, as the herpes virus causes an ulcer on the cornea that can damage sight. However, permanent damage can usually be prevented by early treatment, including medication to suppress the virus. There are other more common causes of a painful red eye, which also require medical review. There is more than one type of herpes infection There are two types of herpes simplex infection: herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2). Cold sores around the mouth (often called ‘oral herpes’) are generally caused by HSV-1. Most cases of genital herpes are caused by HSV-2. Cold sores on the mouth can cause genital infection during oral sex for people who do not already carry the cold sore virus. The virus that causes chickenpox and shingles is also a herpes virus (varicella-zoster virus), but the infection and symptoms are different. How the virus is transmitted The herpes simplex virus spreads between people, usually through contact with saliva or direct contact with a blister. The most infectious time is in the first few days when the blister is forming. Sometimes, people can pass the virus to others when they have no symptoms. This is because the virus may be lying dormant in the skin cells of the lips. How to avoid transmitting the virus People with cold sores should wash their hands after touching their cold sore and should be especially careful to avoid touching their own eyes after touching their cold sore. It is the fluid contained in the blisters that is considered to be infectious. People with cold sores should also avoid sharing: Toothbrushes Drinking glasses or bottles Cutlery Towels or other personal items. They should also avoid: Close contact (such as kissing and hugging) with newborn and young babies Kissing others Close contact with children with burns or eczema Close contact with people with suppressed immune systems. Preventing the transmission of HSV among children If young children are unable to follow good hygiene practices, they should be excluded from child care or school until the blister stops weeping. Blisters should be covered by a dressing, where possible. Treatment Cold sores are generally not dangerous and do not cause any permanent damage to the skin. Treatment does not cure the infection and is not necessary for most cases. Avoid picking the scab or breaking blisters as this can cause secondary infection and scarring. Creams to treat the symptoms can be soothing, as can ice on the blisters. Simple painkillers may occasionally be required. Povidone-iodine ointments (commonly known as Betadine) can be dabbed onto the cold sores and may reduce symptoms in some people. Antiviral medications come in many forms, including creams and tablets. Medications such as aciclovir and famciclovir shorten the duration of the cold sore by reducing the ability of the virus to reproduce. Aciclovir cream works best when applied to the blister at the earliest stages of cold sore development, when the area is tingling. However, not everyone experiences warning signs of an impending cold sore. Preventing an outbreak There is no cure for cold sores. Suggestions to reduce the number of outbreaks include: Avoid known triggers, if possible. Wear sunblock on your face and lips when outdoors. Pay attention to your general health and stress levels. Avoid getting ill or run down.

Kissing offers many health benefits but may also transmit a small number of disease-causing agents such as bacteria and viruses. Colds, glandular fever (kissing disease), herpes infection, warts, hepatitis B and meningococcal disease may all be transmitted by kissing. However the risk of disease from kissing is small and kissing can be good for physical and mental health.Keep it in perspective There is no need to give up kissing for the sake of your health and that of your loved ones. While disease-causing bugs can be transferred during a kiss, most won’t cause disease and the risk of serious disease is very small. But wait – passionate kisses are good for you! It’s not all doom and gloom. Research into passionate kissing has uncovered many valuable health benefits, including: Emotional bonding – kissing your partner is a fun, pleasurable and important part of physical intimacy and helps maintain a sense of togetherness and love. Stress reduction – kissing your partner, either tenderly or passionately, releases calming brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that reduce stress levels and soothe the mind. Foreplay – deep kissing your partner can lead to sexual intercourse. Various studies show that sex enhances a person’s physical and mental health. For example, regular sex is protective against stress and depression. Metabolic boost – kissing burns kilojoules. The more passionate the kiss, the greater the metabolic boost. Healthier mouth – saliva contains substances that fight bacteria, viruses and fungi. Deep kissing increases the flow of saliva, which helps to keep the mouth, teeth and gums healthy. Increased immunity – exposure to germs that inhabit your partner’s mouth strengthens your immune system.

Just Enough; I am with you I would imagine that most people would have the decency to not play if they have an active sore or suspect one is immanent. I would also be heading for the hills if I came across suspect sores. Another comment to add to Celebree's long and informative post. People who are diagnosed with Simplex type II are eligible for prescriptions of Famciclovier under the PBS system. Taking this drug decreases the amount of shedding that can occur prior to an infection occurring. Can I ask people out there. Is it just me or does it seem like people are playing with fire by not taking the time arm themselves with basic facts about theses diseases? Most STI's are treatable or manageable with minimal long term effects if they are detected and treated in the early stages. But still people don't even know what is out there to catch let alone how they can catch it or heaven forbid go to their doctor and say;"Hey I need a screen for this reason what would you recommend."
