show some respect

April 26 2014

ANZAC Day Done the dawn service, then the march. After that took an old friend to the crown the day was great. Until 2 incidents happened first one was when we were sitting in a lounge, watching the football and some guy starts arcing up about the game swearing abusive behaviour so I ask him to settle down then he threatens me. Lucky the security was there. Second event, walking through one of the gaming lounges saw a group of guys talking to a waitress (very attractive ) and one of the guys was be hinder dry humping and making other rude gestures. So as I walked past him I asked him to show a little respect in a public place and got abuse from him and his mates in return.what would you guys done if it where you in my position?

Arseholes taking their freedoms too much for granted. . About you? No good getting into it I reckon, without meaning to, it could be that you would then take on the appearance of a lout. It's a shame being an arsehole is not a crime, but good on you for speaking up on principle. Maybe you could have reported them? I'm sure that wouldn't be considered acceptable behaviour towards their staff. I don't think it matters that she was attractive, sorry, very attractive? :-D Peachy xxx

Exactly what you did. Can't sand that behavior. Good on you for saying something. I do think it's harder for a man to speak up though cause there is always the risk of it getting physical. That risk is not so great for a female (mostly) I got thrown out of an rsl once for arguing with a guy quite forcefully that he was a tosser and a douche because he wouldn't take his hat off... - Posted from rhpmobile

Yep you did the right thing. OP it will happens everywhere when out, especially at bars and clubs, due to excessive alcohol. The reason they get abusive back is because they are embarrassed, because they got caught out. Unless one stands up and uses a voice, catch them out on their BS, they will get away with it. I reckon gotta say it right then and there, but it's how it's said, can make or break the situation. In the long run it is their problem how they react, not yours. But the thing is....some guys think their behavior (acting like a total dick) is totally acceptable! To mimick behind a ladies back is totally unacceptable, I can never understand why guys do that? I've seen guys to the hip, and hand gesture doggy style root thing behind a woman's back before, when they are talking to their (male) friend.. I don't think ever, I have seen a woman do that when their friends are talking to a male. Is it a just a male unwritten code thing? Why do males do it?? *maybe I should write a forum about it* I have been out to and been at the bar, ordering a drink and the man next to me pulled out his dick and pissed right then and there! I ended up with his piss on my new shoes...was not happy nor impressed - not one bit! You don't piss on a woman's shoes - that's one way to really piss her off!!! Foxy

I refuse to attend any now. I was seeing to many young ones mimick diggers, parades etc etc and not show any respect to them or our country. Such a shame...they have to ruin it with their uneducated attitudes. I don't understand why they would even bother to attend, if all they want to do is be rude and have disrespectful attitudes. Shame on them! Off with their balls. Foxy

I would have politely asked them to stop their disgusting behaviour. If they threatened me id walk away. If they touched me well then they better have health insurance.

Not replying to anyone in particular though I do fully believe the following. 1. Assholes will be assholes and there will always be assholes, regardless of what day of the week it is. 2. Security are there for a reason, by getting involved you became no better than the guy who started the shit fight. 3. I'd like to think regardless of one's job, if you are getting payed, you should do your job to the best of your ability am I right? 4. As long as Rupert Murdoch owns 70% of the media in this country, and as long as the racial vilification act passes in the parliament then freedom ceases to exist. After all, on principle, people have the right to be bigots. To deny them that right, would be almost communist by proxy. And you’re not a red are you son? 5. Alcohol in any setting, more often than not seems the cause of bad behaviour, or at least gives people an excuse, or if you prefer a rationale to act inappropriately. 6. The youth of today may be uneducated, and not just the young men mind you, and personally I blame the baby-boomers who took free education for granted. 7. I suggest we put all of these baby-boomers and retirees, and the young and unemployed in a mandatory 2-year national service in a non-combative role, give them some skills, teach them a trade et cetera. That would solve the welfare crisis, and stop both sides whinging about low jobs and disrespect for a bunch of dead vets. And when they die, we will always have Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, drone strikes over Syria, Libyan unrest, the Crimean crisis – and our boys dutifully waiting in reserve will be more than happy to die for corporate greed.Though in fairness I can’t remember the last time the Americans didn’t waste time raping a nation that wasn’t oil rich, at least not until they sold them the weapons first. 8. I have a lot of respect for the army, America starts something and we lick boot like good loyalists to whatever oil-mad cause they've strapped themselves to. That said, technically we don't even have an army. We have a "defence force" comprising an air force, an army reserve (which let’s face it, is basically back-up for whatever the yanks start) and a navy that is about as supplementary as a hooker's tits. They couldn't exactly stop the boat people, could they? And let’s leave the whales to Greenpeace. 9. On a more technical note we can't even patrol our own fucking borders, but hey, great job defence force. For queen and country right? Or at least it used to be. But we are no longer a part of England and should probably form a republic and declare independence. While we still can. And while we’re at it, we should ban the burqa like France.Smartest move they’ve made since beheading Mary Antoinette. 10. I’ve got it… why don’t we bring back conscription for both sexes, and then we can secede from the monarchy and declare ourselves the New Israel, err… sorry a new republic independent of the queen. And hey, maybe then we could even wage war on Northern Ireland, those IRA cats are bloody pushovers! On a serious note though,I can’t think of any logical reason why a man would feel the need to pull out his cock and piss on a moderately attractive lady’s shoe.Though I will say this much, I haven’t laughed so hard since I watched an episode of Archer last nite. In conclusion, War is a pointless waste of life, but it’s a very economically viable waste of life and a great way to cleanse the socioeconomic poor from our ranks. It’s also a chronic lack of imagination, and a sheer inability to creatively solve a problem, unless the problem of is one of chronic over population, in which case, it seems a ripping good idea.Assuming the middle class hasn’t been completely wiped out by now.Who needs war when you’ve seen the 2014 Budget? In all seriousness, I am pro-choice and I honestly can’t remember the last time the Australian people had a choice of whether to go –a-warring or not.Ask yourself, have we ever started a war against another country? If the answer is no then Australia clearly has no place in any war, unless Uncle Sam says so. Now I’m all for waging a heavy peace but if you want to talk about freedom, well here goes.Freedom is something that dies unless it is exercised. Now, the only way the Australian parliament and by extension the people, will ever experience said freedom, would be a double-dissolution of the current 2-party system. The only way a democracy can truly exist independent of an ideologue, would be if parliament was reformed into a collective of small but passionate fringe parties each with their own policies and ideas while you’d have to somehow outlaw the making of coalitions. While at the same time putting every policy – old and new to a conscience vote while continuing to shape new policy that is culturally and socially relevant – but if you’ve made it this far, you’d know that much like this entire article, the whole concept is neither time-efficient, cost-effective or even within the realms of possibility, at least not until Palmer United becomes the most powerful party in the Reichstag. - N Peace out. Respect the vets. Don't piss on moderately attractive ladies expensive, shiny shoes!

I took my son to a dawn service last year as he volunteered to perform scout duties on the day. Up at 3:30 to get ready. It was a touching solemn event and we all felt moved, even my 13yo and his mates. It is important to learn and accord respect to those who have sacrificed so much to our country so that we, regardless of race and creed, could walk around to enjoy our freedom of speech and lifestyle. Thank you to the diggers and the people who have given their lives and continue to do so in protecting our lifestyle. I commend you for your actions as very courageous but also very risky. I have never steered away from telling it as it is, but I am wary of the numbers in the battle. As my dad would say, pick your battles. But as a woman, thank you for standing up and saying something on the bad behavior on the waitress. It always start with 1 lucid stoic voice in the midst of the stupidity. Just men behaving badly and showing how macho they are but we all know the correlation that louder ruder voices just compensate for their minuscule penises. Sad. Again OP, thank you. Love chivalry.
