No... I probably wouldn't marry her (I mean to say... that's against the law anyway on account of the fact that I am already married)... but I suppose, if push came to shove, I'd root her senseless to save her life... being teh very caring person that I am.... So Roxxy... does that count.. or am I still a M.M. (that's mere male... remember women's day or whatever.. I mean those magazines, edited by women, for women, did more damage to women's lib than any man ever could. :pHugs Stalky

Is ok to draw up a quick pre-nupt and get a solicitor to sign it off? Or if they're drowning I could throw a pen and paper first? . Yeah I'd do it to save a life but the'd have to put-out and have their bridal registry organised, and flowers.... . If they're dying from syphallytic-gangrenitis or leprosy, the deal's off.

Marriage is just a piece of legal paper. If it was going to save someones life, why would you even think twice (and I know I'm simplifying what would, in resality, be a complex decision for the sake of thise discussion). It's not a marriage certificate that makes a relationship anyway.....it's the two people involved. Two people living in a loving defacto relationship are just as committed and entitled as anyone with a stupid bit of paper.Turning the question around, you could also ask - would you let someone die by not signing a document that could save them.

I don't see in what situation in real life that could actually occur. Though I've long suspected my cock and general presence both had mystical healing powers. One real life situation I guess could be someone being neurotically emotionally blackmailing, "If you don't marry me I'll kill myself." Again, something that could be out of the sometimes unhealthy Middle Ages romances. In that case, no, I would not marry them. I'd encourage them to get the psychiatric help they needed and then get far away from them.

Nope, forget all the shit about happy ever after, soul mates, love and committment. People get married because they can. sorry Roxxy...I just could not resist...the devil made me do it. I'd agree that entering into mariage for love is a totally serious event and should be treated as such. But you're talking about the act of love and marriage. The marriage certificate is just a representation. I've been married and been in a long term defacto relationship and I was more in love with my defacto than I ever was with my ex wife. I never took my defacto relationship or the decision to live together and merge families as anything but serious....more so than when I actually got married the first time to be honest. As I said, this is simplified for the sake of this discussion - but if I was single and simply signing a marriage certificate could save someones life - why wouldn't I do it? I'd be assuming this wasn't a stranger and was someone that you actually knew of course. But in it's simplest terms, for me, this would be a easy decision. To each their own though - some people have religous of other reasons that I'm sure would compell them to disagree - and that's ok :-)xx

Absolutely it is an interesting situation...but that complication isnt worth it....what happens if you find the person who really does accept you and wants to be with you forever...what if they ant to start planning your lives together...you need to be seperated for a year before you can become divorced - thats along time to put your life on hold..... . Noone can tell you what to do here hun only you can make the decision...just make sure it is well thought out and remember what MissBJ has said - it is fraud... . Kissses Focus

anti gay marriage does suck I have a couple of family members who are gay (and I am bisexual) but the gay members of family who are in committed relationships cant marry their partners and they really dont share the same rights as hetero relationships....but for my family that wouldnt matter no way would we stand in the way of my cousins partner exercising her right has my cousins life partner (and anyone who did would have to contend with me) . But back to question.....if you answer most fo the questions on ana exam without assistance but look at anothers for the answer to just one have you still cheated??? of course you have...even if you attend all those couselling seesions you arent entering into a life long committment from the get go (ok so many marriages end in divorce but they dont start off with the idea that in a year we will seperate then in 12 months after that we will divorce they do start off with the idea of being together forever) but as a means to obtain citizenship - sorry hun but because of that you are still conducting fraud . Quoting 'MissBJ'to marry someone for citizenship....for health insurance...or for any reason like that is fraud...and you can be charged as such.So no...I wouldnt do it.JMO...BJxxx I'm with you BJ... It's illegal and I've been burnt three times already sending money, bread and potatoes to my hot russian brides 'to be'. And got nothing in return... well certainly not a bride, they just seem to disappear. Talk about rejection sucking!! And costing!! . Besides, who wants to marry someone who needs an operation.... I mean there's the hospital visits (parking can be a real killer at the Alfred), the flowers and cards you have to send... And then there's the after-hospital care they'd expect. Marriage is more serious than buying a used car, most people have a pre-purchase inspection done on a car so everything is mechanically in order... I'd argue that's a good idea pre-marriage too.. you don't want her conking out around the corner..

Not exactly why people got married but the reason behind the institue of marriage. Many raved on about the day and the dress and the most conclusive logic was that they got married because they could. The whole topic got rather heated and eventually was closed. Many on here have not forgotten and took it all a touch too personally as it seems that they are still bearing a grudge....mainly the couples. Personally, I can not see any reason for marriage, the institute I mean and Roxxy is well aware of this. Oh I get why people do it......emotionally.

In reality human beings are far more complex and difficult product to accommodate socially than is the traditional and socially convenient construct. Yes I have read the other answers but I couldn't help not to think of what I said above. People have certain inherent drives that are not within their ability to control , so you will find that mostly they'll say things and ask questions that will project a certain image which might not reflect the reality ( myself included). I know that my answer will raise fundamental issues with your readers but to really answer to your question I will quote Richard Tarnas and his book called "The Passion of the Western Mind" where you can find a very interesting ideas about the relations between individual and common good. If I had to marry a friend or even a stranger in order to save his life, I'll do it. The leitmotif here is "saving someone's life", so I guess what I am saying here is that the level of social or material inconvenience that this action might create in one's life is by large incomparable with the "value" of a LIFE. Hope my answer made you happy - roxxy
