A herb called Damiana. Claims to make you horny, but didn't do anything to me. I used it as a tobacco alternative when I quit smoking, it's great for that! Words are much more effective than any kind of substance anyway.

Me and a girl friend brought a bottle of Green Fairy to a small gathering once, by the end of the night every one was naked and playing, not what we expected for that crowd. It contains absinth and has a very subtle effect. Off course there is a whole range of substances that increases your natural dopamine levels via various means. High dopamine levels makes you incredibly horny. Many plants such as bananas have high levels of dopamine and there are people that swear by them. Dont be fooled by this myth as dopamine is to large to cross the blood brain barrier and can not have an effect via ingestion. It is best to eat plants that are high in dopamine precursors (building blocks of dopamine) such as broad beans, velvet beans, marine green alga which all contain L-DOPA and plants that have a dark red or purple colour. Be warned tho as the brain will naturally fight high levels by suppressing dopamine production, closing receptors and opening re-uptake channels. When the high levels in the brain drop you will feel the crash (aka suicide Tuesday). People on SSRI's and there are many, should avoid messing with dopamine as serotonin if very similar, with the same precursors and spill over effect on receptors and channels. Serotonin syndrome is potentially fatal, and is a result of the toxic effect of high serotonin.

There are many that will never try, and will never know the effects that you speak of. For the most part that is their own choice. Judging by the responses so far it is clear that you will ever be able to relate to them what you are talking about, nor is there any good made off attempting to tell them what it is. Some refrain because of fear, some in just simple ignorance, and yet in others it is a matter of morality. I personally am glad to have experienced it and as with all experiences I have learnt from it and gained wisdom. To know that reality is just soup of chemicals and how in seconds everything can be so different. As with everything I do, I learn as much as I can before hand and am always prepared. Will I do it again? I don't know, maybe, but I have seen first hand that chasing the dragon is a pointless, it can never be caught. The substance its self is not dangerous but you must accept the fact with the high must comes the low. If you do not allow it to run the full cycle you are in danger of dependency, and from what I have seen that is not a nice place to be. As it is inevitable that there will be some that must point out that what I do is wrong. Thank you very much in advance for your concerns but I think I have the wisdom to look after my self.

Quoting 'Meeka100' Blind man... Still think it's lame that people that do that for "extreme" pleasure. Then you end up bonking all sorts of people you wouldn't normally. Is that really a good thing? I have a friend that will not drink, he says its because when he does he ends up doing all sorts of stupid things. Its knowing your limits I guess. I have my standards that I will not cross and that stuff does not diminish your judgment at all. I would argue that you become very aware of your situation. It is after all considered a performance enhancing substance and is routinely used by people in the army, air-force, NASA and many other organizations that require the best performance from individuals. At uni it is considered cheating if you use it during exams. The problems occurs if you use it for an extended periods of time and don't sleep. It is well known that sleep deprivation will drive you nuts and the psychosis many attribute to the drug is not the drug but the lack of sleep.

Quoting 'ShyPrincess74' I'm not a fan of being "out of control" ... It's the same reason I don't drink to the point of writing myself off! I like to be able to remember my experiences properly, and have no regrets. Memory remains clear and vivid, there is no forgetting that is for sure. It acts by stimulating the brains reward centers and as with anything that is rewarding or pleasurably it tend to stick in your mind. I do not want to look like I am advocating that people should try it. Not at all as I think the majority of people do not have the self control or judgement required to manage responsible use and anyone with cardio vascular problems should never touch it as it increases blood pressure and heart rate. I just want people to understand that what they have been taught in schools and from the media is all lies and told from a position of ignorance. In a society that allows drugs like alcohol, caffeine, nicotine that are all responsible for tens of thousand of deaths a year we single out a few substances and blow there dangers way out of proportion. Many drugs are subject to abuse, why is it that the realty dangerous once are freely available and no one complains. On a side note it is the most effective weight loss treatment we know about and was until the 50's sold as such. The doses required for it to suppress appetite are so low that you do not feel the high. Obesity is a major killer and there is a solution that has been known about since early last century. It is pure madness to allow organised crime to profit and flourish from a substance that has more benefits than side effects.

That is rather assumptious of you. I was taught at school that drugs are very dangerous, and that they are instantly addictive, highly toxic, to even try them will result in a lifetime of misery, ill health, poverty, and jail, that you risk death from overdose and you will be labeled for the rest of your life as a criminal and never be able to have a good job. In my late teens I believed every LIE that they told me. I now know that is all untrue. My teachers as adults must have known either the truth, or were ignorant of the truth. I believe that protection is given with knowledge of the real facts. I will stand by the statement that what they teach in school about illicit drugs is LIE's preached on the most part by people ignorant of the facts. Drinking kills several orders of magnitude more people then all the illicit drugs put together, yet at schools the are able to tell the truth about alcohol. Drink responsible, they teach dosses, and side effects. Why can they not do the same for all drugs. People that take drugs will do so no matter what they are told, and many young people on discovering the many LIES they were taught act irresponsibly toward the use of these substances for they have lost trust of the very people that are supposed to protect them and are left to their own experiments . The education system has a lot to answer to. Oh and thank you for calling me uninformed and ignorant for it tells me a lot about the nature of your opposition. Please feel free to insult me if you feel that is the best way to state your case. In contributing to this thread I was under no delusion that this type of over reactive behavior would not occur. I have not lied at all and I am very far from ignorant. As for the nature of your knowledge that is unknown.

Ok I will retract my statement in regards to current education system. After reading the various state guide lines for public schools in regard to education and intervention I am still not convinced of the quality of the programs. Most states have allowed the schools to implement there own programs so it is impossible to make a blanket statement in regards to the effectiveness of the many strategies in use. It is clear from the literature that some schools are successful at reducing drug use and drug related problems, while other schools have seen a rise in use and associated problems. There are no clear figures in regards to the over all effectiveness of the current system, thou I see that there has been a great improvement in both attitudes and understanding.

This thread got off track quicker than most!!! Think it is true to say that whatever come up here, people should inform themselves of before trying... and some, as has been pointed out, probably shouldn't try at all. At the end of the day, it its all individual choice. I'm one who doesn't have a great deal on interest in trying things that I don't know about.

I've crossed the line for extreme pleasure occasionally. If you never cross that line, you'll never really know for sure. It might leave a bad taste in your mouth the next morning, but by then, the line has been crossed and after that there's no going back! My line in the sand these days is less a straight line drawn with a stick, as it is the line in the sand that waves make as they break the length of the beach. I therefore propose that we all be upstanding, and toast to the success of crossing our lines, wherever they may lay. Hugs Gazpacho
