We are about to do our 7th cruise to the South Pacific our 5th on Carnival cruise lines. We have done 2 P&O and hated them. Carnival is so much better. Noumea is a dump, stay on the ship and enjoy having the adults only area to yourself. Isle of Pines, Mystery Island, Mare, Villa,Fiji are pure magic. We didn't play on our cruises, but made lots of great friendships. Your son will have a blast, lots of young adults for him to mix with. Go and have a great time. 😀 - Posted from rhpmobile

We have booked Royal Caribbean for January. My son recently cruised with them and told me to cancel and get a refund! It's too late now tho, and I will still give it a try. We have booked the Queen Mary2 for February and Carnival again in November next year. We always book through Ozcruising and never had an issue. Have a look at their website and happy cruising 👍 - Posted from rhpmobile

Heading to our 6th lifestyle cruise in nov. ( bliss cruise) they are great fun. Not scarey but more class. Dress up in the evenings. No open play in public areas. Wardens patrolling to ensure thing stay in line. Great value. Great ships. Great people. - Posted from rhpmobile

We've been on 3 different cruise ships 1 Royal Caribbean, by far the best, classy people on board, Xmas Cruise - totally amazing! , pay for no food on board. 2- Carnival Cruises more families, but ok! Still have to pay for certain food on board. 3- P & O 👎👎 old, budget ships cheap for a reason, people are a little rough around the edges, but friendly enough, have to pay for some food on board as well. Take advantage of drink packages, if you like to drink, you will drink alot! 🍸 If you attend the nightclubs there are always people to party with. Even people who aren't swingers, swing on there. People get a little toey on cruises! Friends of ours have been on over 30 cruises, their preference is Princess Cruises & Royal Carribean. Celebrity are supposed to be one of the best, very pricey, but you get can pick up deals from time to time.

We went with two other families and their kids. I'm not sure we would have had such a good time without our friends that was what made it extra fun. I was by myself with two teens. We had a great time, very relaxing, if you need a nice break would recommend it. Wouldn't do the same cruise again but I'm like that with all holidays. Like to try something new every time. Have fun. GoodFoodCocktails - yumDay activities near the poolAdult only areaVanuata - beautiful. Go to Bridges of Eden. Lifou - unbelievable snorkelling but make sure you go far out away from main beach or you will miss the best bits. Its all dead near the beach. Go out near the drop off or around the corner to the world heritage area. Take a good mask you can hire flippers cheap. Mystery island - beautiful beaches. Organise your own tours the ones on the boat cost a fortune for the same thing you can do yourself. Service and staff- excellentAcoustic bandsRock and Roll band in the pubMusic trivia - because I won them all. :)Aquarium in NoumeaReally cheap duty free alcohol in VanuatuGreat value for money you hardly need to spend any money on the cruise. Nice family atmosphereKids activities are good. Our kids didn't use the kids club but love the fact they could safely roam around the boat without much supervision. Acting out Titanic scenesHigh Tea BadNight life was pretty ordinary. Shows, a lot of them were corny but this made them funny as well. We went with friends so had a laugh. There were a couple of good ones, I think its just luck of the drawActivities became a little repetitive.Got a little monotonous by the end. Bit same same. Enjoyed the days when you could get off boat.Noumea - expensive, but we had fun at the aquarium. There are lots of water sports there which your son might enjoy but could be pricey. The drivers at the wharf in Noumea are a bit full on. Ask to see your transport and driver before you pay so you know what you are getting,

We've been on a few cruises, Princess, royal and carnival, a lot will come down to ship selection and destinations, as pointed out numea is low on our list of nice places to visit unless you are into snorkelling, duck Island and amadee Island are both quite good for snorkelling, quite a few sea snakes at amadee but not really aggressive and have small fangs, mare has an absolutely beautiful beach with good snorkelling, Isle of pines beautiful again good snorkelling, just to make this a little shorter most of the islands are great, the ships from all lines vary a lot regarding personal taste of decor and things to do and food, we really like RC and personally rate it higher than carnival, but many are the opposite, I didn't like the fact there were no alcohol packages on carnival (unless cruising from a port other than Australia) RC drink pack was fairly expensive and unless you drink 6+ drinks per day may not be worth the money, if you plan on snorkelling take your own equipment +reef shoes, it's more hygienic and less expensive, I highly recommend getting a gopro and spare batteries as some of the underwater life is pure magic, also research and you can save quite a bit of money on the island tours and the locals get to keep it all instead of the cruise line taking most, ok that novel should do for now and if I think of anything else I will come back. Have fun and relax - Posted from rhpmobile

if you don't drink enough to warrant a drinks package ,but between both of us just might ,is it do able to buy one and slide it across ,and go back for another discreetly , and do packages normally cover cocktails ,such as margaritas and exspresso martinis ,? oops nearly forgot tequila ,lol - Posted from rhpmobile

She should be a travel agent lol. I've been on P and O twice when l was younger no problems with people being rough around the edges or maybe I'm just one of those people 😝. Went on Carnival Spirit 4 years ago with my daughter who turned 9 whilst on there, the crew were amazing with her and we still keep in touch with a few of them on FB. It was great, we loved it and going again in December for a Xmas cruise. Carnival don't have alcohol drink packages, l don't drink a lot especially if I'm with my daughter so it wouldn't be worth it for me anyway. EQ did forget to mention the gym which is awesome, l used it quite a bit. Can't get much better views that's for sure. You'll have fun on which ever one you choose, it's what you make of it. And as a full time single parent it suits me down to the ground to not have to do anything work or housework related for the entire time I'm on there haha.

Yes, on the Royal, we purchased an all alcoholic drinks inclusive all cocktails & the next tier down & never had to buy a drink. You tend to drink more if you have the package. I still remember this poor young girl saying she had already racked up over $1000 on her credit card, with no package, we were only half way through the cruise. If you don't have an inclusive, don't get in to shouting rounds it will add up quickly. With kids buy them the soft drink package, once they disappear & make friends in the kids/teens clubs, you won't see them, they ditch the parents & with the security on board it's safe for the older ones to roam around freely on the boat. Also in regards to Noumea, if you can't speak French, they will not sell serve you, it doesn't matter how much you try & communicate with them, rude people! Google translator is your friend, particularly if you want to become familiar with their swearing vocabulary! We wouldn't get off at Noumea again, waste of time! Isle of Pines, beautiful to swim & snorkel at!

just looking at dates now rc cruises will be our cruise ships of choice , but damn it won't be the one before xmas ,damn that cruise went up by double in price ,from 2500 to 5900,i don't think so ,lol can anyone tell me what value or benefit there is to using a travel agent if any ,and how do they make money on cruises if it's all a predetermined price for most things thanks again all input has been very helpful mr b - Posted from rhpmobile

We have been on a number of cruises and have booked most of them online ...a couple we did go through an agent as they were organising a group travel that we were participating in. In one case I worked around this as I found a sale price online that ended up saving over $2000 on a single Cabin , a price the agent couldn't match when queried. Most agents are controlled by the price they purchase their cabins from the cruise lines at which is a reduced rate to the brochure price, this is where they make their money ... the cruise lines from time to time put on sales where the price can fall well below those offered by the agents but aren't passed on to the agents. We have found it better to book online ourselves as you have better control and can research prices and can also register for email notifications on sales. Our preference to date is Royal Caribbean ,they offer more ( snacks /ice creams that you have to pay for on other lines ) and an excellent service ...not saying they are the best as we haven't tried them all ...yet ...one last thing for those that offer it ...if you like a drink or three check out the drink packages they can be quite a money saver.
