My current, The Doc', is a 1993 with a tray I built my self. It's close to my ideal car, but not perfect. That would be Banzai, the spray can black, 1973 Hilux that came before it. It came with an old girlfriend who past him on to me when she went following her career to the UK. I Pulled his engine out in the early naughties and was amazed at what I found inside. This made me an instant Toyota fan. Sadly, I killed him last summer. But his tray and stereo live on in The Doc'I love them both. Real tray back utes. Not something that looks all shiny, mag wheels. a big motor and an automatic transmission.~puts hand up to nose and waggles fingers at the urban cowboy brigade~

It as a bit rough around the edges but I tidied it up enough for rego and ran it for a few years as it was. I pulled it off the road to restore it but then I got married and I've never had any money since. It's still in my shed in bits but I'm slowly accrueing all the parts for the rebuild. It runs a seven litre, 428 Cobra Jet V8. I'm leaving it as an auto but replacing the carby with fuel injection. I'm getting really antsy as it finally looks like she'll be finished. ummm.. Only nobs that can't drive have hot sports cars with auto transitions.. It's not mums shopping trolly or a limmo..A cool 260kW muscle car needs at least a 4 speed gear box. Don't forsake your left leg man. Like lamb, you know it makes sense.

It was a handful when it was a 351 as there is no assisted steering and the 428 big block is real heavy. Besides, I also have a mildly worked 4.1 litre, 4 spd Cortina and a Focus XR5. I've decided to leave the 'Stang with it's auto as I'm getting older and lazier.

it's a shame they don't make patrol's and landcruiser's with extra cabs... this would be my choice. Endless days on the beach, tight lines, a campfire and the sand between my toes. A big stinkin' V8 and big f@!k off tyres on it too... the further away from civilization, the better. The basic gadgets, 12volt in the back for the fridge, water storage, an annex and heaps of tray space for all my shit.... as for driving on the bitumen, probably a HK Monaro

We love Euro cars - the design and the drive quality just seems more refined. We currently have an Alfa Romeo 159, which we think looks like sex on wheels. We're looking at adding a Range Rover Evoque to the garage, or possibly an Audi S5.

Hi- I'm a 1974 model- But I run smoothly like a Range Rover Vogue Autobiography Supercharged 4.4L V8- Recently detailed so I'm clean, tidy, polished and smell great- I run along steadily enjoying every second of the drive- Grab my gearstick, switch me into sport mode, accelerate and watch me go for the ride of your life- Drive as wild as you like but know that I'm always in control- Am comfortable off road as much as on, bumpy or smooth ride and on all fours or just two- Would love to see your reflection in my paint work and feel your hands run over my upholstery

I've always fancied the Volkwagen Karmann Ghia (coupe and convertible marketed from 1955 to 1974). I'll take a hardtop version from the 50s or 60s, thanks! What does this say about my taste in men? I'd say this would suggest I prefer unique and quirky, retro guys who are sexy and stylish. Funny fellows who are a little edgy and classy, but definitely not quiet &/or dull.

I had one :/ but couldn't afford the upkeep (and was lacking in the mechanicsavvy to diy) and when rego time/moving interstate/general "this is how much it will cost you to keep her roadworthy" came around... Well... unfortunately, she became a burden I couldn't justify keeping :'( However, I will always cherish having had her... my dream car, the car I "always wanted"... classic VW beetle, convertible, hot pink, (actually the one I ended up with was something of a lovechild for the previous owner, and an amalgamation of a number of different models, including a Kharmen Ghia) ahhhhhhhh such joy!!

My ultimate car would be a good ol' yank tank - a 1959 Ford Thunderbird convertible. Would have to be red with heaps of chrome. It would come with the original 430 cu inch V8 and worked to an inch of it's life. Nice fat white walls as well. The ultimate cruiser for two or more to have fun in Unfortunately these days I'd either have to install a 200 litre tank in it or tow a tanker behind to be able to get between towns

Purrrrring ... Oh & there's nothing I'd love more than to accelerate and watch you go - feeling the growl of your super charged V8 through the seat of your fine fine upholstery.... & some will call me wild, so I definately need good handling and control... I think I'd like a test drive!

Hi there all.... before I end it up with my favourite car or the car i have to start with this....What distinguish a man from a boy it's car.... So I read all of your post and a woman said only about the car :P... to me there all skates with an engine. The car must be the expression of his owner and the alter ego. Must follow his commands. Be elegant, luxurius, fast when it has to be fast, safe with an aggresive design notes, dynamic curves, quallity because quallity does matter and with the high end of current technology. Thank to my life i had several cars of that brand and i had driven them all for a long period even the models i did not had. Bad luck i have drove some other brands and I always return to my conclusion that the brand that i have is the only car exist in this world.... Because when I want something.... I want in all and I want the best... So there is no other car like the german Audi(there I said it). It has it all and it's perfect by it's own nature... It doesn't need anything to be perfect. There is no car manufactuer with the quallity of AUDI....The BMW and the Mercendez-Benz are always two or more clicks below in any model. Aston Martin... I wonder why I don't see a lot on the street and see them more in a service station... And Ferrari are always the Woman in red....Everyone wants to have them but in the end they end up with a dream... BTW Buggati, porche and some other cool car there are all AUDI in their heart :)That's from an AUDI maniac :)

I also drive my perfect car. A modified drop side tray, F250. I get a little creamy every time I start the engine :D and it is allll mine. Even down to the papers. And even if I didn't have so many kids I would still drive one. Love it!!

My yellow SS Commodore has to be my fave. It's a work in progress but it's a 6.0 litre V8, 6 speed manual, walkinshaw sports mufflers. The addition of a walkinshaw or cappa supercharger will soon see an upgrade of grunt, and a downgrade of bank balance. If I could though I'd go with an R8 Audi. V12 monster under the shed, and the most appealing is the hand assembly of the entire car. :)

Okay where do I start I own my two dream cars.... one is a 1971 Rambler Hornet SST with a stroked, injected and soon to be blown 347, with a tricked 727 Torque-flight, the original Dana diff and of course orange in colour. Now if that is not tough or sexy enough I have the ultimate ute...... 1977 F100 XLT Custom 4WD running a mild (at this stage) 460 with a 2" lift, 4 poster bull-bar, original bench seat and interior, thumping stereo and sub, GME 3200 UHF, 35" tyres..... in other words you point it and it goes, over it or through it lol. And then there's my daily driver..... a blown and far from mild but very street drivable 5.0l series2 VT Calais, full leather interior, electric everything, just really nice to drive until you put your foot down and then its an animal.Mustangs are like an arse everyone has one !!!

Then break down the very next week, costing me more inconvenience and $850 for a new radiator and a tweak to the transmission. One that has not gone through its previously replaced radiator only 2.5 years ago. Needless to say, a different car to the one I have.

as a biker....since before my teens.... my ideal 'car' only has 2 wheels, and would have to be a Harley Street Glide...looking, but the $34.5k price tag has me hesitating... over the years tho i have owned a few different and even boring cars... an ex 'works' Rally Datsun 1600...and a mint stocker for my ex wife an ex Rally/Hillclimb Mini Cooper S, that was a genuine V8 killer (til an electrical fire destroyed it) and 2 others along the way... a '53 Morris Minor Ragtop with a Fiat Twin cam and 5 speed a couple of Mk1 Ford Cortinas (2 and 4 doors) a Compact Fairlane (trick 302) a '69 GTO that I swapped for a blown 351 XD Fairmont Ghia a '71 VH Valiant Hardtop with a monster 340 and all the bits an assortment of '60s and 70's Holdens...some swapped for favours, bits and even one for a carton of fourex (rego and all) A few Commodores...a VS from new, a VT from new, and now a VE....ex police car that Shel drives daily ( chipped with uprated brakes n suspension) and a pristine VL I picked up recently.... sensational condition too the cars tho that I always liked would be the 69/70 Dodge Daytona/Plymouth Superbirds.... 200mph in a 2ton car with drum brakes? lol... scary shit....but sensational looks...wedge front end and huge rear wing...lol..has to be Mopar, has to be big block, and has to be loud... the real world beckons tho..(and my wallet protests).. the desired car would be a Mk1 Cortina 2 door... would love a GT500... but missed the one I wanted..so might just have to build my own....paint it red, and go from there.......

...as there are many cars with broader appeal aesthetically and very many cars with superior performance but I do agree that the BMW 3.0 CSL is a significant classic and is far more elegant than it's successor, the 633 CSI. My very first car was a Ford Falcon XA GS coupe wth a 250-2V engine (4.1 litre six cylinder with two barrel carb and extractors from the factory). Obviously nothing on a GT351 but it didn't give much away to the 302 V8's. I was travelling towards Newcastle, on the Pacific Highway, doing the old ton (160km/h) when I was blitzed by your German classic on an uphill curve. No way I could come close to it for speed or cornering. What a gorgeous car. I hope you manage to score one someday.
