Theres a time and place for everything so surely those few hours in a day to watch a game of footy you not gunna dry you up and nothing a talented tongue cant fix.. lol.. Coming from a rugby league background , Im not a hugh round ball follower and only watch so much before I start to lose interest. However; I will watch the world cup when australia play and probally the last game to see who wins. Apart from that' I watch a few games of league a week which doesnt bother my FB. lives for the world cup! A month if sleep deprivation watching the best in the world go head to head. The highs, the lows, the oh's and the ah's, the knuckle biting moments, the roller coaster of emotion, the jumping up in elation screaming yes, yes, yes! It's 90 minutes of psychological passion. It's practically 90 minutes of sex! God, I love this game, the world cup is the greatest tournament on earth. yes!!!! now i dont follow the soccer , ( although the wallabies didnt flog the frogs like they should have last night) so may have to take a lookbut regardless dont think there would be any sport or anything else on TV that i would be interested in watching if a lady started crawling up my leg in hot gear to distract me actually a whisper in my ear of " honey im really horny" would be all it would take for me to pick her up and carry her to the bedroom, or is it acceptable do go for it there and then on the couch?

Way too many of my mates camp themselves (every weekend) in front of the TV, full esky, enough packs of ciggies to choke a whole neighbourhood, watching endless hours of not only soccer, but whatever relates to sport, drinking litre after litre of the brown bubbly stuff. I know we're all different, but I sure know that I'd rather be feeling the warmth of a female body, instead of a cold stubby.. Get up guys! The best parts are shown on the news anyway.

I live in Townsville, in north Qld. I've watched plenty of rugby league both in real life and on television. And it hasn't changed my opinion. I don't like the beefy, overly muscly look of guys in league (and that's not all I don't like about them but I won't go into that). I much prefer leaner men, which soccer players are. So don't accuse me of being closed minded just because you used to play league, and it offends you that a woman could prefer a different physique. The world doesn't start and end with you.

My older son was the captain of the rugby team at school. He used to beg me to go watch him when they were playing in a match. One day I took the afternoon off to go and watch him play. BIG mistake! Towards the end of the 1st half he got tackled really hard and just lay on the ground not moving. I, of course, ran onto the field to see if he was okay, swearing at the referee for not stopping the game immediately and shouted at the kid who had tackled him, telling him he was a big bully. (Well he was my baby ) By the time I had finished giving everyone a piece of my mind he was back on his feet, slightly winded but so embarrassed. Needless to say I was never asked to go and watch another match again. I can't say I'm a fan of rugby or soccer.

...Was about sex and sport, not soccer vs other sports. First of all, if you don't like it, don't watch it, but let other people enjoy it. I think Cricket is the most boring sport in the world, but I don't go lecturing my Cricket loving mates about it - I let them enjoy it. Secondly, although Diving is an issue, in this world cup there has only been one obvious instance of it (the Brazil Dive) and we are 12 matches in. Yes it's a problem for the sport, but it shouldn't be the focal point compared to all the other wonderful things the sport can bring: elegance, grace, skill, passion. Also, as a side-note, us Aussies generally DON'T dive, the A-league is pretty honest and the Socceroos are too. The upcoming generation of Aussie Kids are all playing 'Soccer' these days, and I think old baby boomers feel somewhat threatened by the prospect of this upcoming sport taking some more of the sporting Pie in Australia away from Rugby and AFL, so they use every opportunity to put the sport down. Well, bad news, it's growing here, and growing FAST. We've made 3 world cups in a row, are about to host the Asian cup, and there is more money in the sport and people playing it here than ever before. And just to finish off, although I did play soccer as a young lad growing up, I've always had a strong interest in the AFL and follow Richmond passionately since I was 5 years old (no matter how hard that has been...) So in ending, there is no reason why the sports can't co-exist, and people can enjoy them all. I got my Tigers in the winter, my Victory in the Summer, and The socceroos whenever they play. and my Socceroos and Richmond Guernseys are happily side by side hanging in the closet :)

I agree, this quickly turned into an anti soccer post! When we moved here from Scotland, I got into the A League, and was pleased to see the amount of young people opting to choose to play soccer - its the World Game, after all. But I do know a guy who wont let his son play soccer (and the wee lad loves it) because its a "poofs game", sorry about the term, his words. I watch AFL and Rugby, but soccer is my passion, and I love the World Cup, so if I get to watch it and have the company of a lovely male friend at the same time, then Im a very lucky girl!Why cant the sports co-exist?

but i was born during the world cup... Apparently my dad nearly missed my birth because he was trying to watch as much of the game as possible in the waiting room... My mum still gets a little aggro whenever the story comes up... I used to play soccer, but I've never been able to watch it. I like playing all ball sports, but don't really watch any, so i wouldn't be at all distracted around this time of year.

Last night was awesome at the PBH in Sydney... got to chat to quite a few lovely ladies who were really pissed at their men who were studiously ignoring them whilst glued to the State of Origin.
