Who has a Fun Phone (separate mobile just for swinging)

November 21 2013

As the heading suggest..who has a separate phone they use just for playing. Not all that comfortable with handing either of our numbers out, Google either of our mobiles and instantly a dozen hits come up with who we are, where we work and who knows what else. I have heard others have a separate phone. The phone is the easy bit...It's what plan do you go on?? Is there a really cheap plan perfect for a 'fun phone'?

Who else?!! $19 pre paid gives you $200 of credit, expires after 30 days

Is that you get 3 months to use the credit and you can reload for as little as $10, so if you rarely use the phone a little goes a long way...

If the 'Bat phone' works well, you could graduate to using a powerful spotlight to emblazen your emblem on the night sky when the need is urgent! :-)

The Bat phone came in very handy....a totally different model ph (diff txt n ring tone) to my everyday personal use (family , friends n work) till the the day I lost it (a few years ago left in a taxi when out on the drink). A costly mistake indeed just had the contact of details of my FB's outside of RHP. Guess I can't complain now with the friends n FB's I've met on here from over the years. TG

In this lifestyle you definitely need a "naughty phone." Especially when you have tech savvy children who love to play games on your phone, and ask questions like, "Who's Janet & Brad, with a surname of RHP?"

You need the Shady app. It sends all messages to a private box separate to your messages so all that stuff is private and can only be opened by another numerical password! So if snoopy hubby looks through your messages he can't get to the super dirty ones without a password! lol

Read our profile. We all have different privacy needs and I assume many use play phone. We also use virtual sms services. That allows us to send silent number sms or receive sms on a number that you won't be able to call.

I just bought a Virgin prepaid SIM last week. Have yet to use it though.

Aldi would possibly be the best, the sim has validity for 365 days and it costs 12 cents per txt or per min for calls and you can ring anywhere in Australia for this price, recharges cost $15 or $30 and you will then go back to a 365 day expiry date.

We both have a Samsung Galaxy each and with them you can block and bar numbers on them if you don't want to get SMS or calls from those who have your number. I still get a little worried about giving my number out, however I have searched and searched online and you can't find any details using my mobile number. Although when the need arises (more contact etc) I will get a fun phone. :)

I have separate phone for similar reasons as OP.Just the other day I was joking to a friend that this my business phone, this is my backup business phone and this is my Monkey Business phone. I use my business phone a lot to show pictures of our work to clients when quoting, so I not keen on opening the wrong gallery in that setting lol Not sure if it would get me more or less business :-) Mind you a lot of my clients are very cute mothers bored at home hmmmmmmm Ok I have an Optus pre paid phone for the Monkey Business phone (see its catchy) and just got $130 cheap Huwaii. Just think about how you will use it, if it is sms and mms make sure you get a data pack for your smart phone willchew your credit in a day.I use a free app called Viber which is like skype foramobile so you can use data for messages, picture transferand calls if the other person has Viber also. idealfor those long phone convesations planning your liasion(s) Oh and make sure you password protect your Monkey Business phone... Brad Damn Typing on a tablet makes you look illiterate

Yes we do now since we first read this and it's a good idea so we can give it out more and not have to worry about when we stop all this we don't have people rining or texting. Or getting court out looking at the wrong thing. Nearly did last night but was quickly fixed and no one noticed.

Sometimes it is not having a play phone that is the problem it is that a lot of people are hesitant to contact anyone because of security and not wanting to give there number out until you meet in person to me the reason for having a p/p is to contact either by text or calling and see if you want to meet in person and of course you can't post your number or it will be deleted

We have always had one. While we love this life we also enjoy the fact that it is outside our other "Day to Day" existence. So as a matter of course we therefore separate everything including our number to one life or the other. . Sadly we lost our play phone about 3 months ago and have not been to grab another. Bugger! . Also play phones can get dirty ......... sticky ......... buy a "water" proof cover, you know something you can hose down. . Just sayin ..... . Brae

Never used it. I have now KIK installed on my phone, so people I'm interested in can message me without knowing my number.

Have to know your number to call it? How does it work?? foxy I prefer texting. KIK works with usernames, so you can look someone up that way, once they've given their handle to you. If someone does want to talk and I'm not sure about them, I'm happy to call with my phone set to private, so my number doesn't come up on their display.
