  this fairly normal, and they have places called 'love hotels' that you rent by the hour. I don't know much about them, but I find the different cultural attitudes to sex absolutely fascinating! According to the Wikipedia entry we got one last year! There's certainly a need for them, as you identify. Seems like an opportunity for enterprising individuals to start a trend!

  That you could check in at 10 am and I guess they changed it just for that very reason. Too many booking in for a naughty, fun-filled day and motel staff facing the cleanup afterwards....

  This could be a lucrative business venture for someone. It sounds like something that could actually be quite popular. Maybe sex shops could have a back room with this particular service added in. I mean, if they have enough room for peep shows why not find some room for a bed with a bit of privacy during business hours. Maybe the location would be a little less discreet... but while being adventurous. Speaking of adventurous... Sneaking into a neighbours place while they are at work? Or is that going a little too far?

  Just some feedback from someone that owns a Accomodation Place. A 10 am checkin doesn't work as the previous night guest has until 10am to check out. Also a 4-5pm checkout makes it hard to get room cleaned & then rented out for the night as most guests arrive before 6pm. The answer to your problem is to find a establishment that allows a late checkout-there is a fee involved usually.So you hire the room for the night with a late checkout & you now have a room for the day,usually till about 4pm.Hope this helps

  I checked out the website for the Sydney love hotel.It looks a little dodgy, English may not be the first language of management, a few typos here and no rates on the page. Apparently they offer free wine (you had me at hello).Their terms and conditions are also noteworthy:   Hotel By Hour, Hotel Pay By The Hour or Love Hotel, as often referred to, is managed in the same manner as a motel. The only difference is that it has different themes and the rooms are rented by hours.No model on site.The guests need to bring your own partner. LMFAO, BYO partner.It also says that rooms are available to couples. What if you wanted a threesome, foursome, fivesome, orgy or gang bang? They obviously haven't thought that through properly...This is an excellent topic though, one that is also pertinent for people who have house mates, or god forbid, live at home with their parents.

  If the room has been vacant overnight early check in is no probs, all you have to do is ask ?

  It may be nothing to do with English as a second language. It could just be they are too lazy to proof read their copy properly..In which case, they understand their demographic perfectly LOL..

  Just found an article on SMH about this."In the southern end of Pitt Street, just round the corner from the Family Court, Villa Exotica is offering rooms at $30 a person per hour with a special introductory hourly rate of $49 for two."Does anyone else find it strange that you'd pay more for a second person? Who would really rent a room for an hour by themselves?

  I've heard of the love hotels in Japan before, my wife and I have wanted to visit Japan for a long time, and are keen to see/try out one of these places if it doesn't look sleazy and grimy! Good work on finding the Sydney Love Hotel GreyEyesSydney, I had no idea there was one here. I still haven't managed to find their homepage, however a quick Google of it revealed a review. The fact that patrons aren't allowed to stay longer than four hours made me chuckle! It also says there is a 3 person limit, however it also says that the rooms are so small that fitting 3 in would be tight. The review also tells us that "all rooms and en suites were neat and clean with the beds freshly made and a chocolate adorning every pillow." Perhaps it is worth a try, there is free chocolate after all! ;)

  Near us that is empty. It went into receivership a couple of years ago and is just sitting up on it's little hill doing nothing. We have contemplated looking into leasing it or even buying it to use for just this purpose... Still thinking about it...

  @ukguyinoz - Have been to Tokyo a few times and have seen the “love Hotels” form the outside that is – look very cheap and nasty and its all pay by the hour with tokens Was informed that its often used by students in Tokyo as they tend to live out of town and don’t see their Gf or Bf intimately that often. Most hotels and houses are small so being cramped in a 2 x 3 for a few hours for sex seems fine… We are More the wine and dine type so need some ambience and love to frolic for more than an hour or two…and the formula one ...yes been there done that but a bit small for 3 or 4 and a tad grimy thanks Don’t take your wife in but a good area for a night out is Shinjuku
