What's in a name?

March 17 2010

"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" I have taken a liking to fictional (or not so fictional in some cases) characters to use as a pseudonym. Calamity Jane of course was a musical with Doris Day - and surely I always burst into song at the drop of a hat - and she was also, reputedly, an alcoholic prostitute who travelled with an army. Whichever version I choose, she was fun! When I first went on to a dating site I was Penelope Pitstop, a helpless female so far from the truth...but, I could play a character for a while, yet still keep the essential me alongside it. Whilst being Penelope I met a Roger Ramjet, and we had some fun together for a while (after all, we were just animated characters). I've also been known as the main character in Pride and Prejudice, Lizzie Bennet. Lizzie has some great traits: smart, strong-willing, doesn't compromise herself for anyone. How could I choose better? So, what is your story? Did it just pop into your head, or require lots of thought?
