What would you 3D print?

December 11 2013

Let's make this non-sexual. If you had access to the most sophisticated 3D printer in the world and could print anything, what would you print and why?

In an effort to bridge the gap and raise awareness to those that mistreat them. To demonstrate that they live, they love, they feel - just like we do and the only difference is shape and form.

My boy was beautiful and he was such an even tempered gentleman who made me look like the ultimate horsewoman with his prancing and sidestepping, neck arched and tail raised like a golden banner......for years everything bad and stressful just slipped away when we were together. And my big boy red brindle mastiff cross Oscar, who came between danger and I on a few occasions and loved our night jogs through town.....RIP my darlings. There's a lion I'd like to replicate as well.....but I would need for that 3D replica to be animate. ~ Indy thanks for the beautiful memories. - Posted from rhpmobile

Much like in Star Trek, we'll have one everywhere and replicate all kinds of stuff. It's going to revolutionize society because we won't need to freight stuff or have factories anymore. And the aim is to get a little 3d printer to build a bigger one, which will build a bigger one, and so on until all kinds of huge things are built, like houses. I'd print a house. I'd also print a car, but that's aspirational. Right now, I'd print some funky shoes or something-else that I could 'show off' so when people asked I could fill them in on how it was made.

Obbi would replicate ourselves and openly give ourselves out. We are not gods gift to women but if there were enough of us we could be one woman's gift. That and We wouldn't have to work every day, we could take turns. We are legion. Obbi "Never sneeze inside a full face helmet!"

Totally! I remember travelling a lot around Europe and seeing replicas, including full-sized ones and thinking 'amazing'. I thought for sure the original wouldn't be much different. Then I saw the real thing and was genuinely star struck. It's breath taking. I'm glad it wasn't just me :)

Rodin, Hieronymus Bosch, Michelangelo? Fuck yeah! Bring it on. I was lucky enough to be standing next to a Rodin piece in Europe and was frozen with awe. I had too much respect for it to touch it with my hand, but I had to touch it, so I brushed my elbow across it gently. @GG: did you ever hear The Clouds' song 'Hieronymus'?

It's not the doodle thats breathtaking with David. It's the veins in the arms and Michelangelo's ability to make stone cold marble look like living, breathing skin. Didn't you just want to touch him? I remember forgetting to breath at the time. I was lucky enough to be alone with him for ages while the guard wandered off.

About that doodle .... Deliberately carved him as an uncircumcised Jew because Michelangelo saw David as the perfect natural form of man. When you look at him , he changes mood depending on which angle you view him . The pupils of the eyes are carved as deep heart shaped holes to capture the light and give expression to the face. The really impressive thing is the shear arrogant confidence of Michelangelo . The work was started by 2 other sculptors , but they gave up because the marble block was of such shite quality that it was only really suitable for use as paving stones. He came in and turned it into what we see today. - Posted from rhpmobile

Can we do architecture too please and skip Egypt. Although they were an amazing and incredibly advanced civilisation I get a boner over Rome/Greece/Venice/French/Italian architecture. Notre' Dame is high on my list so are some Soviet nations moreso the strong statues of Russian soldiers with their guns stomping on the heads of their oppressors.

I was just their then, though now it was more a privileged time. Billy Thorpe was recording Tangier. It's also the last album. Not long after Thorpe left us, so did his sound engineer Clarky. That's how things go in rock and roll. Wouldn't be able to bring them back with the 3d printer. But it would be able to make a 3d print of the studio, and Tangier in that room. Thorpe asked what I thought it sounded like, I told him it sounded like sex, he was happy, said it was meant to. It did though. In one harmonic spot up against the wall, there was 3d music in the centre of my brain. So I shall leave it there and go without that bit of my brain. 3d music that's what I would print, then my brain could let go of Thorpe, I could put him and Clarky in my top pocket, instead. Mado

I never knew any of that.....never studied history nor really developed an interest in art.....TBH to me I thought it was just a statue of a naked man!!! Mmm maybe time for some history and art research!!

from paintme I think. Mado, there is something in art and music that really can't be replicated in 2d or 3d or even 4d. It is what I think you see when you look at Tara and your babes and it is what I see when I see beauty in art and my babes. It the thing that makes music in your soul. No amount of man made technology could EVER 'print' that. x
