What will you do when you retire?

August 09 2017

I'm halfway through and have a nice nest egg super and I spoke to my dad and he's the type who plays it safe and always responsible. Myself I'm a little bit different, they will most likely change it to 70 and I'm not much for a materialistic person, I used to be though. I figured when I retire I'll just sit at a beach in Thailand and live it up without a care. What about you? What are your plans? Safe or live it up or both?

Spain would be a good retirement spot. Good lifestyle for me. Sleep in, siesta during the day, then up socializing half the night. Barcelona or nearer to the beach perhaps.

I have been thinking about my retirement since my early thirties and hopefully I only have a couple of decades to go. I would like to, first off, cycle around Europe if I am still fit enough to do so. I would probably well and truly have had enough of cycling after that, so time to buy a decent (but not oversized) motorhome with a good solar setup, travel around this beautiful country of ours and see all that I have not. I too have thought of another country, but it's Cambodia for me, but I seriously don't want to end up becoming one of those alcoholic ex-pat barflies that are so prolific in SE Asian countries. The only problem with doing the whole ex-pat thing in a country like Thailand or Cambodia, you are far more vulnerable to the usual afflictions of age. Have a stroke in Cambodia, or a heart attack, or bust your hip? You're screwed. You might not die, but you simply wouldn't survive it as well as you otherwise might.

...that I will never fully retire as I like what I do and will go as long as I can. Okay so I'll cut back on the days and hours but no, never retire. That said, I am a bit passionate about Belize. Currency conversion is locked in at 2:1 so double your money and if you speak Spanish, even better...and the lifestyle options are amazing! Best and hasta luego...... CM

Sitting on a beach indefinitely seems like a waste to me. - Posted from rhpmobile

Doubt I'll be able to retire. I'll probably have to keep working until I just drop dead at work one day

Simples. Without having to go to work I'll have much more time to look for a partner, if so by then I'll be a crazy dog gentleman and you'll catch me walking my 17 dogs down on the beach :) :p - Posted from rhpmobile

I haven't even managed to keep a job going let alone a career. My bank balance is more than my super... But lets say it all suddenly pans out... I'm going to drink white wine all day, sit around in my pjs and maybe write that novel thats been bouncing around my head since my early 20s... Its more likely i will invent the first sentient AI and be its first casualty on its rise to conquering the world.

I live in Broome 30 degrees most days I'll go somewhere cooler in the hotter months. And fuck my brains out. After the next year as I'm not that smart I'll fuck you . - Posted from rhpmobile

So much ambition....I'm merely aiming for a hot nurse to wipe my arse and give me a sponge bath when my incontinence calls .... Lol - Posted from rhpmobile

Would also love to study a Masters of Arts/History in Paris or Rome. Besides that, health, family, happiness and the odd trip to Cap D'Adge are the priorities!! - Posted from rhpmobile

Our own little 15 bed swingers resort in the Yarra Valley has crossed our minds once or twice... 🤔😉 - Posted from rhpmobile
