What makes a good first message?

November 02 2011

Ok, so I'm not naive enough to think that I should get a reply to every message I send, but for those of you who do respond to messages here, what makes for a good first contact? A polite hello? A little bit of cheek? Perhaps a bit of raunch? Let me know what makes you want to reply and find out more about the sender?

I respond to most of my messages even if its a "thanks but no thanks" but a good first contect is anything thats not a cut n paste message. Do not write your e mail addy/msn details or phone number in the first message it reeks of desperation. You don't need to write a novel but just a few (perhaps witty) lines and personalise it with something written about either a pic or something thats written in the profile you want a response from. A little bit of cheek ( not vulgaity) will also get me wanting more, always good to see a sense of humour in the first message, good luck xx

Even a 'thanks but no thanks' reply is fine with me. Seems then that I'm doing most things right. I genuinely avoid the cut and paste thing, but there's no danger of me writing a novel. I don't claim to be a word-smith, but I'd like to think that I can put a few words together to resemble a sentence. I even try to put punctuation in the correct places.... Punctuation is sexy right? ;)

Yes, punctuatuation and stringing a sentence together are definitely a good start :-)...when a guy gives some reference to something in my profile it shows that he's at least read it n taken an interest...humour goes a long way to generating interest and future replies...smut n "come knock on my motel room door" doesn't...sometimes just something that shows an intention to get to know you as a person goes a long way...

There is nopoint in not beingopen, honest and upfront Just deal with facts - possibly compare paper or photo matching. Of course I personally want a mental connection and so exploring that aspect is so important. Humour is always helpful.

Honestly we have have had emails that have made me cringe, is there any need to be vulgar.. I quote " do you wanna f---k like now " this will never capture my attention although it could make me vomit!! As if that little scenario would be welcomed with a YES PLEASE, I think not.. A little decorum and imagination required boys!!
