What is it with young people today?

January 26 2010

Something is irking me and I need to have a vent!   What is wrong with the 'young people' of today who just don't seem to understand that some music just needs to be blasted??  See for me, it boarders on sacreligious to play bands like Nirvana or G&R quietly!!  I am constantly being told by the kids "it's too loud, you need to turn it down"!  I remember being told the same thing by my parents and now my kids are doing it to me!  Right now I have a very special compilation CD playing and I've had to turn it up again twice!  Grrrrrrr! *giggle*   S xox

while at uni my son went to a plethera of parties woo hoo ! Here i was thinking what a wonderful well adjusted young man he was turning into and felt so proud. A warm fuzzy feeling of him experiencing all those wonders of youth and growing up. During a conversation i ventured down the path of what do they get up to at these parties ( nearly always fancy dress or LAN parties) seemed like good fun. Thinking he was OOOHHH such a lad, and so blessed to have such a great bunch of mates F&M. Most of whom have slept eaten or been drinking at our place. Imagine my horror and the effort i had to put into not laughing hysterically when he told me that they get the vaccume out at the end of the night and cleaned up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We use it now as an in-house joke as to what sort of party hes been to. He promised me they did play twister too.......damn i hope it was naked twister !!!! and yeah he always tell me to turn down the music.......but i think its cause im a little deaf too LOL our futures safe......ish Cheers Miss b

One of my favourite past times is prancing around the loungeroom like a prize twat...only difference is that I play some mean air drums.  I play real drums too, but I sound much better on the air kind *giggle*.  I also play a mean tennis racket guitar, but it's been a while for me ;)  I especially like to do it when the kids have friends over *he he hehehe*   YAY @ getting the song last night!  I was mighty determined to get there!

I used to have that problem of telling the old man to turn down the musing... Beethoven and the Beatles blaring at 3am was sooo annoying.   Can't wait to have kids so I can play Queen, GnR and Def Leopard at full blast... :)

Pretty much complete control in the area of music though being such a considerate soul I also consider Mr P' when he's home, plenty to choose from to keep us both happy and Mr P' pretty much gets the TV.Nothing like setting up some pool music, cranking up the volume and shooting a few games while imbibing in some liquid refreshments {I beat Mr P' 3-1 last night! Woohoo, it's been a while :-D} and our kids don't even complain... gotta love it  No the white did not go in off etc :-PCheers n hugs... Mrs P'

I would love my neighbours to be learning drums....instead of really badly played violin!  Eeeeeek!  I'm actually waiting for the day the boys find out I sold my kit...something tells me they're not going to be too impressed with me LOL

hehe.. we have a house full of musical instruments.. some of them aren't even imaginary!  An electric drum kit for example.... when it first arrived I was watching Red Dwarf and I could hear this tap tappety tapping noise.. very annoying until I realised what the alternative would have been.   My music has to be played loud... I kept turning up JJJ top 100 today as "the kids" were out at the pool listening to it and I couldnt hear it inside... hehe.   Now that the kids are older they actually play together sometimes.. this is a vast improvement on previous years where they refused to.. one playnig guitar.. one saxaphone and pianno, the other drums.. all of them playing at the same but different everything else. They're old enough to leave home. Won't be long now.   Hugs Stalky

The stuff young people call music is not MUSIC its screaming........how can anyone understand screaming......I can't understand how they manage to even sell the so called thing youngins call music...My 18 year old is into all the new screaming so call shit and i am forever going what are they saying.....I am due for a hearing aid soon the screaming is deafening hahahaha   Has a drum kit and guitar here......he lost interest in both........so sitting collecting dust but no not allowed to sell them... Least when he was being taught both instruments his instructor taught him real music....and we all now the easiest tune to play on guitar is smoke on the water hehehe     TIT

my daughter is 3 and come into the lounge, "i wanna dance" so she turns on the radio, jjj of course, turns it up and dances around the room. its sooo much fun to watch. its also quite funny to hear her say "we love music triple j" i do however remember screaming at my mum over the lenard cohen or neil young cd at 3 am on several school night back in the day, theres only so much depressing music u can hear before you turn into a crying mess. suppose the alcohol didnt help.these days the music is loud and the dancing around the kitchen is frequent, but i cant handle the screaming shit. my cousin is the lead singer of carpathian, some of u with teens may know them, and i have no idea what he is singing about its all just rar rar rar to me.xxxx mrs charly

Im lucky in that my son and I both like the same music pretty much....everything from radio stuff to stuff that he watches on tv like Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus (i dont love it..but can deal with it) to my taste...which ranges from Metallica to Amy Grant....with some classical thrown in for good measure.I also dont mind a bit of doof or dance either...and I love trance. When Im alone I love the music blasting....but when others are here...I like to be able to talk too...so sometimes...Im the one turning it down!!BJxxx

One of the reason our generation turns up the wick is because many of us are suffering from industrial deafness. I don't know why they call it that because there was nothing industrial about the bands in question. The fact that so many died of drug overdose was obviously due to the prescription errors of the self medicated. Something this generation has in common. I would be worried though if the neighbours complained about juniors iPod level. The experts say they play them too loud… but I'm lucky if I can hear a thing over the Playstation, XBox or Nintendo games that have taken over the lounge room widescreen and sound system. Lucky if I get to see anything on TV. It makes it a bit hard to play a porn video, without getting sprung, when the high definition screens are getting more like the Megascreens at the cinema complexes. Nothing subtle about them. Unlike the kids of today in fancy dress… we stopped dressing up as Superman, Spiderman and the Hulk before purity. Now Startrek, Starwars and Red Dwarf costumes are quite acceptable, even for one guy on RHP.
