That's there's going to be an awesome one up at Maleny north of Brisbane this weekend. But that's only what I was told by Tabby. OH the sex party as in a political group. YEah, well i think they are pretty okay ... what are their policies. Free condoms at school and butt plug vending machines at railway stations? YOu know... incase you've got a long journey!

Well, I'm pretty sure they're a political mouthpiece for the Eros Foundation, but having said that I've got a lot of time for Fiona Patten, and as far as I can tell their policies, despite the flippancy of their amusing ad campaigns, are actually pretty solid. I have a personal obsession with the importance of Freedom of Speech, which has no constitutional protection in Australia, and the Sex Party is the most vocal supporter of this (hence my suspicions about the Eros Foundation). In light of that incomparable fuckstick Stephen Conroy I'd have to say the Labor Party has zero respect for the concept of Freedom of Speech, and the Libs don't appear to be overly keen on the idea of Freedom full stop.

I'm also tempted to posit the theory that ThinkerSam might be a front for the Sex Party. Ah, the conspiracies, the conspiracies!

Well they are in favour of freedoms, like freedom for abortion, freedom for gay marriage, freedom to play R and X rated games; less censorship of adult movies and no internet filter. At least, they are the ones i can think of.

Quoting 'Meeka100' But what policies do they have??? They actually have some very solid party policies, and have a lot of 'undercover' backers and advisers from the senior ranks of the more mainstream parties.Hop on over to their website and have a look. They only had one policy I wasnt a fan of, and that related to parliamentary position filling, which I thought was a bit fluffly.

...is that they are taking on a few very important issues that just aren't being addressed due to political prudery and the increasing collaboration between church and state. particularly: * establishment of a commission into child sexual abuse in religious institutions * uniform abortion laws (decriminalisation) across the country * supporting stem cell research * supporting human rights for sex workers (including changing immigration laws to toughen up on sexual slavery) * returning internet censorship to the hands of parents and individuals rather than mandatory censorship by the state * increased protection of privacy laws, and clarification of laws which currently allow both the government and corporations to retain records on our personal internet browsing histories, email, etc. of course, i'm not at all certain that calling it the Sex Party has done the party too many favours - though they've achieved the spotlight very quickly! and like DarkHorse above, my own personal primary political focus is freedom of speech - something that has had little political support since before the Howard days. i'm also terrified at the speed with which our privacy laws have been eroded and obscured, with the very clever (and monstrously incorrect) connection made by the mainstream pollies between freedom/privacy, and child porn/pedophilia. somehow, at one point, if you were against mandatory internet filtering and governmental breaching of individual privacy, then you were somehow on the side of perverts and pedos. this harks back disturbingly to McCarthyism and the labelling of anyone outside the mainstream as perverts and communists... about time we had a party to redress the balance. even if it has to be called the Sex Party!
