I retreat to my bedroom like a child and wait for the storm in my head to cease. We all have these learned behaviours. Go to a safe place in your mind where you can find peace and quiet... a calming influence away from the anxt or agro... a form of self hypnosis... self imposed mighty corner... Sometimes I punish myself, but I know that's not a rewarding experience. HugsGazpacho

Go to see an action movie, best even if there's a horror movie showing at the time lol the loud sound effects of an action or horror movie helps me destress mentally, and it works well for me every time. Getting foot massage done is also a good way to destress :-) - Posted from rhpmobile

Quoting 'Meander' I have been known to go to the Couples Club, to have the bad mood fucked out of me. I've done similar things in more selubrious environments, and lost count. Perhaps some kind of record? The Sister down at the Kogarah sex clinic was very understanding when she asked me for the numbers. It doesn't really work though does it... although I've ended up totally fucked... dedicating the weekend to the idea.... I suppose there are some advantages.... but no solution. HugsGazp

It feels really really good to kick the shit out of a paddle or shield when your in a rut, crap as day or things just aren't happening at all. Usually after the class the endorphins have well and truly kicked in after the physical exercise and I feel a lot more focused and centred.

Usually after the class the endorphins have well and truly kicked in after the physical exercise and I feel a lot more focused and centred. only because my legs are too short to kick anything!! A great round of boxing does wonders.....after that im so exhausted I don't give a fuck about anything !!!

An easy and simple practice once you've learned it, it will get you through just about anything if you utilise it. You can learn it from a GP with mental health training or from books and even youtube videos by notable experts like Jon Kabatt-Zinn but basically it's about living the moment you're in, acknowledging your feelings, your body and your surroundings and just being present in the moment, it can lead into and work with meditation or just on the go. Other than that, I try something that helps me to escape a little. Tai Chi helps a lot. It takes me so much mental effort to remember the forms everything else falls out of my head. Or I read novels, nothing dramatic though. Either way I find just being able to escape from my own world up in my head for a while allows me to come back to it with fresh perspective and purpose. xx Sarah

If it's just a short term bind, I will wrestle with it like being caught in a jumper that is too small to take off. Us scorpios can be masochistic in that way. I will choose music that fits my mood and belt out a few tunes at the neighbours' expense. If it is a medium/long term issue that I am wrestling with and can't change too much such as a family issue etc, I like to plan a few lilly pads to hop onto in advance, rewards to look forward to like a concert or adventure. Acts like a carrot and a refueling station to get me through. 👍

Usually park up on the couch. Watch vids (DVD's for you whipper schnappers) usually chat to frirnds to brainstorm for another perspective, maybe have a frustrated cry, have a card, pendulum, sing, go somewhere natural where I can soak up Mother Bature and recharge, swim in the ocean or sink myself into making others feel good (sigh) it might last a few hours or a few days but it diesn't last forever. A good fuck also helps ~ 👍 Indy keepin' it real Luvs.

Or listen to music that talks to my soul with the volume way too loud. I usually end up having a good cry, go to bed early and wake up feeling better. If this doesn't work I just say fuck it, pack my bags and go get lost in Thailand for a week.

Lock myself in my bedroom, it's my place of peace. I don't answer phone calls or texts, don't talk to anyone, just sit and think and try to work out what's happening in my head.....sometimes it can take a couple of hours or it sometimes takes a couple of days for me to come out of my funk......

I actually think of my cousin Elaine. She died two days before Christmas last year of a brain tumour. She was also the longest surviving patient with melanoma - she lived with the disease for 20 years. She is my inspiration when I get down because she always had amazing zest for life no matter what! She had 4 kids, 5 grandkids, worked, played sport, travelled - she was simply amazing! She never let anything get in the way. I also practice mindfulness (or being in the moment) - works a treat. And then there is always Woody, my dog or cat to cuddle! Pusscat xxx

Just relaxes me. Couple it with my off key singing, bliss! And if I feel really uptight, then I go for a run. That's what happens when all the fwbs are busy :-( - Posted from rhpmobile

Like most and everyone, mine is usually dependent on the reason...... It can go from soaking in the tub with a glass of brandy, watching a sad movie to force myself to cry, having a rowdy time with friends and that good ole bottle of vodka............. I use to love going down to the cliffs edge and just letting the sound of the ocean. Going to the club or a FB and having a really full on fuck......... However, with all of them I always do one main thing at the end............. Give myself an attitude adjustment and instead of thinking in the negative, I will look at what is occuring and think in a positive manner...... Eg, shitty day, want to cry.. Ok my body needed a release and this was a good way to get it back on track.

If I am down in the dumps, I will jump into bed and watch some war documentaries. It quickly reminds me that no matter how shit life may seem at the moment it is so much better than it could be. Both my parents suffered as civilians, the horror of war in Europe. My problems are trivial and pointless in comparison and I am quickly reminded of just how lucky we all are.

I read or watch DVDs, I find that if I can sufficiently distract myself, the little things go away. If its really serious, I'll get out a pen and paper and write down a plan of attack to rid myself of whatever the issue is, then, every day I look at the list and cross things off as I complete them. Gives me a sense of achievement to see how far I've come from where I was for that scenario. I currently have 5 lists on the go, I have lots of stuff going on that's bothering me at the moment. Parenting, career, writing my book, family, health/fitness.

When I'm down I repeat my motto to myself. It reminds me that I've been through far worse, and there is no way in HELL I will give up or be defeated. It sounds really aggressive, and I suppose it is, but there is a very good reason for that.

Normally a negative funk can be relieved with a little meditation in the park near where I used to live... sit and watch the city drift by at 2 am is the best. Alternatively a trip to somewhere in the sun helps... like the beach or a cafe by the water. The recent downward funk has lasted 5 weeks and whilst there is light at the end of the tunnel I fear it is a train... hope March doesn't hurt too much. SG"I need a hug" - Eeyore.

Being in a funk, is slang for being temporarily down, not up to par, not burning on full cylinders etc, etc. It can relate to your emotion, work or even your 'game play' (yes sex, if not sure what that means :)).

I used to turn to illicit substances. Not a great long term solution. These days i wind down with a few drinks. Haven't done martial arts for years but it is great for mental discipline. Since all the work i do is very physical and presently solitary where i spend a day escaped in my own mind/world, the last thing i want to do is exercise more or meditate/contemplate. Well said, i am of the same opinion. When people constantly complain about how horrible their life is , especially if its realistically not that bad i tend to blatantly remind them how much worse it could be.. Starving , struggling to live in a poverty stricken/war torn country where food, clean water or waking up tomorrow is a blessing. Recently feeling down during a 17 km walk home at 2 am christmas morning i thought about the diggers of world war 2 and how it would have been a good day for them to walk along a road for 17 k's without much to worry about and it inspires me to push on harder even running for some of it just because if i needed to i could. - Posted from rhpmobile

Yes, life could be a whole lot worse, and I am profoundly grateful for the many blessings I have. However, I am a firm believer that whilst it could be a whole lot worse, that doesn't mean that my hard isn't hard. That my difficulties are somehow unimportant because people are dealing with much much worse. I'm not saying that's what you are saying, Coops ... I have a "friend" who is constantly trying to one-up other people's problems. "Oh you think your issues with x are bad? I'm dealing with x and y!" It pisses me off! I think we are all entitled to our funks, but a healthy sense of perspective always helps drag me out of it too!! :-) when I'm going through a hard time and someone says "it could be worse", I don't dispute that but it makes me feel as though my feelings are not valid. Unless you walk in someone else's shoes you really have no right to assume you know how they feel

I'll hop on one of my bikes and just ride. Nowhere in particular usually…just going whereverthe roads take my fancy. Dressed in appropriate gear, all I need carry is my wallet..bikes run outof fuel fast when pushed hard! There's a visceral, very physical feeling to riding a big sports bike or a supermoto…exciting and tinged with fear sometimes. Depending on road surfaces, weather, other vehicles, etc..And inside that enclosing helmet, there's no sound but the wind and sometimes cars. There's no stereo blaring or sterile silence. Perfect for just thinking..but attention is needed too! : )

THe simple pleasures all around, a drop of dew on spiders web, so fragile, so light, not tanggled in a trap, just there to take the light and dance with winds delight. The rain so heavy on a stormy night in time with thunders exuberant might, the shutter rattle to join the song and trees with joy and at there best do hold the tune.Flowers with leisure open to mornings light with gifts of rector for all the things that scurry about. The dogs tail never holds back joy when seeing you.The toaster clicks and fills the air, that special flavor, what simple bounties the earth does give. Oh Shut the fuck up, I don't give a shit, you're all being such fucken joyful tits, this is my day to be in the pits you're not helping by being such gits. So hard to wallow in misery at times with nature in your face. Ode to joy, yep heard it..Now fuck off I am going back to sleep..... Just some thoughts.

I used to jump on the motorbike and head out for a ride .....but I sold it 2 years back....next year...buy another one. I miss riding on a nice day lately I head out to the garage and make , fix or modify a piece for a car im building. I find concentrating on welding thin sheetmetal and tapping it straight again requires concentration, and can be rather hypnotic (tig welding anyway) and when you look back after completing a section... its a good feeling to see what you have achieved , makes other issues seem less important....and good music in the background helps - Posted from rhpmobile

For us to have a good old root, not only does everything go back to wonderfully good, It's for not to the habit of reason to not have any old reason think rooting is the victim when things go down. So having a little root is saying "Stick it up the MAN" to no effects, when the down starts to sneak into our funk, then fun fucking funk gets funky again, so it be fuck with the funk, we get with it our funk, fucking for funks sakes. You beauty come on down and try our funk, we say, bring it on and see if we give a fuck about it. See what we did? More fun being happy, then again, it's not so bad the idea, messing with our funk, good reason to have another root. Toot toot to funk and fucking when things go down, going down is nice too.
