When I first came to WA on holidays back in 1975: We were able to buy jugs of Snowballs @ the Shaffto for $5 Gobbles was the best nightclub to go to see...and be seen Black swans were swimming in a pool in front of the Airport It was compulsary to get souvlaki in James St after a night out P

Wow, I'd forgotten all about Snowball jugs at Shaftos. They continued through to the 80's. As did Gobbles.

at the airport, yes precious, I often reflect on the swans, uncaged but they never flew away, beautiful. Also pre security days viewing planes taking off and landing from the roof I think? Back then we were probably allowed out near the runway too 😀 Perth zoo is also beautiful, the big trees, train and carousel. We had home reel to reel movies of us dressed up with matching outfits Mum had made, she was always dressed beautifully with hat and heels, which elevated her up to about 5"2 lol we were all dressed in our finest for a visit to the zoo. Country week tennis when a bit older. Arriving in the city after dark, first glimpse of the city lights

...I rolled into Perth 8 and a half years ago( I rode here from Brissy, via Melbourne, on my motorbike ) shopping centres didn't trade on Sundays. And the first bar I walked into on the day I arrived was the Redcliff Tavern. The first thing I noticed was a sign above the bar that said "No Colours!" I thought I'd really arrived in the wild west, where persons of my skin colour drank in the back bar.Of course, it meant gang colours. My boss still laughs at me for that..

I came here in '88 for the Americas Cup. Just love it ! There are things I don't like, mostly the mining boom urban sprawl was so badly planned. Best thing though is the people, lots of good people. And the weather lol 😎

.. driving from the country into Perth at night. The lights outlining a swan or sail boat on the old brewery. Magical. - Posted from rhpmobile

The giant Jarrah tree trunk at kings park. The Fremantle passenger terminal actually being used also as an exhibition space regularly for events, like the Titanic exhibition I went to many years ago, rather appropriate being that it's at a port. Being able to go on aircraft carrier tours docked at Freo, though not a Perth specific thing, but still....the good old days Subiaco markets, destroyed for a bloody shopping centre *sigh* Burswood golf course....don't get me started on the awful replacement.... Devilles Pad, sad to see that go....a great "alternative" night out. - Posted from rhpmobile
