Unusual Food Fixations

September 05 2012

I have one work colleague who loves raisin toast every morning...with a thick slather of Vegemite.I have another who likes to dip her McDonald's French fries into a soft serve cone.I don't think I have any VERY strange combinations I'm fond of, maybe bacon with cinnamon and strawberries?Do you have any unusual combinations and/or food fixations (ie pregnancy cravings)?

Once in a blue moon, I get a hankering for vanilla ice cream in a cone with a smoke. And French fries dipped in soft serve cone is yum!

I don't think I had any strange ones when I was pregnant except, with my son I couldn't get enough of tomato juice and cheese and beetroot sandwiches. Even now, if I make a sandwich with beetroot in it, it must have cheese and the two must be placed in the sandwich together.   Apart from that, just the usual celery dipped in peanut butter, granny smith applies eaten together with tasty cheese an vegemite sanwiches (or on crackers) with sliced tomato.

We had an Aupair from South Korea living with us who would eat a big scoop of iceream on a slice of bread for breakfast every morning in front of our kids, who would want what she was having. We have spent a lot of time in Asia and we are aware that the Asian breakfast cuisine is different from ours, but this was a new one on us. Our daughter discovered stawberry jam on bacon tastes nice, which is a good combo and is a little like your own City Kitty. Pregnancy cravings was mainly for crispy roasted chicken skin (only) which created a conflicting dilema for a vegetarian.

Quoting 'playful4u' Pregnancy cravings was mainly for crispy roasted chicken skin (only) which created a conflicting dilema for a vegetarian.   I can just imagine a skinned roast chicken sitting on the table naked, the crispy skin having been demolished by a ravenous pregnant woman!

Hot mash potato sandwiches, made with fresh buttered white bread....   but really unconventional (not mine) but several months ago I was occasionally chatting with a young woman who, in her words, was 'addicted' to eating her bf's cum on everything - dinner, breakfast, salad....

Well imagine this, it was still roasting while the skin was being ripped off, the chicken never made it to the table, lol.

I know some English people like Fruit cake with plastic cheddar cheese.   I thought chips with ice cream was weird but then I tried it one day and it wasn't too bad, the sweet and salty.

I'd like a bacon donut served with a hot man on the side. On second thoughts, hold the donut, I'll just take the sexy guy.

So the cafe I've recently started working in has this thing on the menu. Avocado, feta, mint, lemon, and Vegemite toast... poached egg optional. Sounds very odd but apparently tastes like its made of Pure Awesome :) Another combo I would have sworn was guaranteed to be icky is marron, vanilla, custard and pepper. Also, I'm kinda freaked out by people who put pepper on watermelon. Wtf?!?

Quoting 'Vagabonde' However, everyone should try Vegemite and BBQ chip sandwiches. Just sayin. Ooooh yeah. I used to have an absolute fetish for Vegemite and Cheese & Bacon Ball sandwiches. In white bread. Has to be white bread. And each ball has to be cut in half so they don't roll around and fall out of your sandwich.Quoting 'MadamDragonfly' I enjoy twisties heated over a candle flame dipped in Fanta.... For me, this takes the prize so far...!Quoting 'Waterbabes' until the egg whites set. Sprinkle with nuts and seeds and a drizzle of manuka honey and a dash of milk............heaven........I remember when I was first told about it, I almost vomited but now, I am addicted......XXX I think the gag factor is because you're thinking the eggs will give it the texture of scrambled/fried eggs. I have a fitness fanatic friend who eats six raw egg whites for breakfast three times a week. He made me try it...the texture was like phlegm!
