Too cute

April 15 2014

Lately I have been called "cute" a lot and I'm curious to know what exactly it means to YOU?? When you call someone "cute", what exactly do you mean?? How does it make you feel when you are called "cute" ?? Foxy

the context surely.....If cute is meant to be a compliment to a grown woman, then IMO it's sadly lacking..patronising even......babie are cute....sometimes remarks are cute....kittens ,puppies are cute.... xx Q

I see little things that are pleasing to the eyes as 'cute'. Guess my lover will know what I really mean now when I call his peepee 'cute' lol - Posted from rhpmobile

It means nice and lovable, depending on the situation. If I was commenting on some RHP pics to Mrs J I might say she's cute, then she's sexy and then she's HOT.....but that's just me.Mr J.

I abhor being referred to as 'cute', it honestly makes me cringe. I can't even pin-point the exact reason as to why. I think Qefenta2 might have encapsulated one part of the reason - it is patrionising and somewhat belittiling. Also, I'm just not the 'cutesy' type. It doesn't make sense to attribute 'cute' to someone this twisted. :P Grab a Thesauras and employ some other adjectives, I say. I want to be dionysian, resplendant, sultry and maybe sometimes vitriolic. Or, you know. Just use 'bitch'. That's far more accurate in my case. ;)

Cute doesn't come to mind when I see/think of you. You have a gorgeous smile and a personality to match....body wise, you're hot, sexy and amazing but I can't see cute. There is definately a girlish beauty about you. Perhaps these people that call you cute are just a little lost for words, I'm sure it was a compliment. It is still a term of endearment. Cute is something I call my kids...just cause they are.

Most of language is about the context in which it's used. But my POV is that cute when used for adults, is quite non committal. In my books you're either pretty, beautiful, lovely.... or annoying lol - Posted from rhpmobile

It's all in the context of how 'cute' is used! Don't look into it too deeply

It means warm, bright eyed and cuddly, inviting and thoughts of cosy lovable cuteness. From guys who find you cute. If a woman calls you cute, she probably means something quite different. Mado Tara xx

On the part where you said it was non committal. Being called cute does depend on the context...a lot. However, in my experience....when a lady said I was cute I didn't feel at all like I was being complemented. I did feel as though I was being a little patronised. I mean I don't think I have heard a woman who thinks her partner is worthy of her...calling him or her cute....I could be wrong. I think it's endearing....but it's more superficial compared to gorgeous, stunning and the like. When I have used that word...I didn't describe a person with that word...I may have just described a body part..like a nose or whatever.....or even when she had that little bit of coffee on her lip.....but definitely not to describe her personality, her overall appearance....because yeh I just don't think i could ever call a woman cute based on what she looks like.

It's ok, certainly better than "pretty" for me personally. But the word "cute" = "awww!" in my head, and generally reserved for babies and animals. If a guy looks at me and thinks "awww", I find it hard to believe he sees me as a sexual being. What gets me though is when women use the word for guys. Saw one of these "Share if you agree" posts on Facebook once: "Men, stop calling us hot. We are beautiful." One guy's response: "Sure, as soon as you stop calling as cute and start calling us handsome." Touché

from a man or a woman, lately it's been getting on my nerves and over hearing it. Guess I find it, not really a flattering compliment, when there could be other words used. I'd like to be called as DG said..pretty, beautiful or lovely, sexy but not really "cute" or annoying either... LOL! I feel the same; puppies and babies are cute or something rather sweet and adorable. Foxy

A baby panda or a pair of baby croc shoes are cute.....if you call me cute I'll slap your face, sounds a little dramatic but I've always had an issue with this word, rubs me the wrong way for some reason. Mrs_AJ - Posted from rhpmobile

Thats what I always heard, but then it makes no sense to babies, kittens, puppies, clothes, etc. I think like some said its in the context. Its a good word to use trash talking in sport and not a good word to use to describe a woman when shes mad lol. Cute to me? Makes me feel like I'm a Pokemon or some Japanese kiddy manga shit lol. - Posted from rhpmobile

why you cant be sexy, pretty and beautiful and still be cute too. Sometimes you can do something cute, say something cute or just look cute. It doesn't mean you're not the other things.

Crystalxxdamon - sounds like you're in need of a bull look me up ;) Re cute it's a certain look I think - I guess that look is different for different people as is what it means to the person who says it and the person hearing it, it's all about perception right? The more you know each other the more perceptions are aligned, it's the same with anything, if I called someone cute it would be meant positively!

To me if I call a man cute, that just means he has some about him I like as in features.. IE Dimples, beauty spot on face, freckles or something like that. Very very rarely do I call a man cute... OK, so now, I am confused...do men really think they are in, if a woman calls them cute ? Foxy

Cute is definitely an endering term, but not just re visual looks, it can be of the behavioral nature to, you may have been playing cute via text, or saying cute things, or is there cute pics of you. Cute, is not offensive by any means but also depends on each persons individual interpretation of it, and the context it has been used in. Unfortunately text looses that emphasis and tone, leaves simply the words to be self explanatory... "Cute" (cute) Personally foxxxy your more then "cute" :)
