The wisdom of Homer

October 06 2010

Okay, I admit it, the last couple of posts I have made on various threads have been serious, so it is time for a light hearted question. The sage of the small screen, Homer J Simpson, uttered these wise, profound words ... When a man looks in the bathroom mirror, he only sees the image he wants to see but When a woman looks in that same mirror, she only sees the bits she doesn't want to see! So who thinks Homer is right??

I think Homer is right. I have lost a fair amount of weight over the past 18 months and admit I still have a way to go. When I look in the mirror I still look the same and it was only when I tried on an old pair of jeans that I realised how far I had come.

I believe some men spend far too much time in front of the mirror and what they see in place of what is actually there looking back at them makes me wonder how they don't have a white cane and a harnessed labrador-to get around... I believe women are trained from a young age to be devout male apologists and so when they look in the mirror they do not take enough time to examine and appreciate all that is looking back at them as they are preoccupied with how they do not conform with the theology and doctrines of their false gods. In doing so-they often miss the beauty, grace and power that is there because one if not more of these blind men who in reality have feet of iron clay (if not hooven) brainwashed them into believing that there was no beauty or anything else of merit in them to see, love or desire...and as a result their deficiencies is all they see on a daily basis when they stand there in front of their looking glass. Sadly, too often the faith of these devout apologists is stronger than any words of their personal taciturn god's promise to favour or reward them for their relentless devotion.. They are often martyred unnecessarily for their faith in a truly lost cause and sadly, seldom do faithful martyrs receive an apology from their dubious deity... An apologist can't have a slave...too risky-just look at how it worked out for St Justinian. I prefer the old ways-more marble, poetry, fresh fruit and wine-slaves know their place, and the true gods destroy the imposters through relentless suffering...a warrior a day keeps the boredom away- all is well in the classical world. "When the Romans did arrive, they arrived in force with the intention of staying." If people just understood and accepted this it really would stop a lot of tears and bloodshed... All roads lead to Rome-eventually-even for the lowliest of slaves still caught up in a state of "ideas", my poor savage his inferior brain seems to prevent him from being able to enjoy the vast pleasures and treasures of the Empire where the great ideas are made real and where great things are built to last. You'd think he'd get it-having grown up so near the wall, the wall he was leaning on so heavily when he was initially trying to impress me. A slave for pleasure on each hill....seven is indeed a lucky number. *smirk* NymphetamineDrm
