Ahhh the perfect thread! I'm a bit of a crazy record collector however for more accessible pop music, I have always loved talking heads. Also great artwork. Their speaking in tounges LP is great. In particular this must be the place (naive melody)

WOW, which one do I pick. Used to own over 1000 vinyl albums, most overseas pressing or limited editions as the quality was better. Then, divorce happened and she kept the lot. later found out, she kept them only so she could throw them all out. What a waste.cant choose between:-Frampton Comes Alive, Do You Feel Like We DoLed Zep 4, Stairway To Heaven, andTen Years After - I'm Going Home.Soooooooooo many others I could choose too.

Quoting 'MrsPeachyPear' (how come you cant have the whole album??)Maybe more accurate if I'd said it's so hard to pick just one song from such a favourite album. :-D Another Neil Diamond album favourite of mine is "Jonathan Livingston Seagull", easy to pick my favourite song off there... "Skybird".I saw Neil Diamond on the 'American Idol' finale last week. He's still got it! Now Mr Heedless, is this where I get to ask what on Earth that is you've got sticking out of your pocket??? ;-D Hugs... Mrs P PS: I googled Turn the Page and watched Bob on youtube. Thanks, it's not a song I'm familiar with but sure will listen to again. that is my keyring (on a short chain) I leave it in view or just touchable as you dip your hand in so a little easy to grab if you want entry to my place, I have a spare under the rose bush in case I am left stranded as you run away with it, very hard to get out, just have to keep tugging, don't worry i will be very close behind eyes maybe rolling a little or a nice smile on my face, but you just keep goingAlso a little dirty flirty trick if a woman asked for a light as I hold my drink in the left hand, she needs to go to the left pocket for...lighter, spare change save breaking a note, any key for any thing is in there, tooth pic what ever takes the moment. MrsP I know only too well your clever but my words may cause confussion, if you still a little stuck (not meaning hand in pocket lol) I will explain further

Vinyl wasn't just for stadium and yacht rock! Wow you're a mainstream lot.It really depends on the mood so I can't pick just one sorry LRE.For some mellow guitar over a glass of red (or a lazy joint for those so inclined):Happy Mondays - Pills, Thrills and Bellyaches (favourite track is Loose Fit)or The Stone Roses - Second Coming (and the favourite is Breaking into Heaven)For some post-punk party starters:Bad Religion - Stranger than Fiction (21st Century Digital Boy)or You Am I - Sound as Ever (Adam's Ribs)Or if some classic rock is in order then all of:Powerage - classic early AC/DC blues (long before they discovered cock rock and stadiums)or The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced?Mr C

MistressT, Freddie Mercury was great. He did a version of "New York, New York" on the "Highlander" soundtrack that was fantastic but cranky Franky would never let him release it. Heedless, Bob Seger had a lot of great songs. I also loved Jon English's version of "Turn the Page". He has a powerful, four octave range that was used very effectively on that song. In 1982 he and Marcia Hines released a six track mini album called "Jokers And Queens". There were no singles released from this album but one of the tracks, a cover of "You Were on my Mind" got quite a bit of air play on Sydney radio. Does anyone remember that song?

You should get hold of the Madison Square Garden version of the end, goes for nearly 15 minutes I think from memory. Another epic, I only have this one on Itunes download though, Jethro Tull's "Thick as a brick" the whole album is one song, absolutely brilliant album. approx 45 minutes.Cheers Felonius

Jensman.....'metallica' did a pretty good job of 'turn the page' as well..............

I've heard it and, not surprisingly, they did do it well. I'm not usually a fan of covers but there have been some very notable ones over the years. The Angels with 'We Gotta Get Outa' this Place' and Rose Tattoo's 'Born To Be Wild'. I personally reckon Angry did it better than Steppenwolf but then, he was wild to begin with.
-

yea covers can be fine, but i do prefer the originals.....i have the Steppenwolf album "Steppenwolf" which has 'Born to be Wild' on it.....but prefer their album "The Second" for the songs 'Magic Carpet Ride' and 'Dont Step on the Grass Sam'What about 'Pavlovs Dog' (David Surkamp) and their album 'Pampered Menial'.....the song 'Julia', or even 'Fast Gun'... played often still here (on days home alone)............
