From a medical text in 1903: Teach your boy that when he handles or excites the sexual organs, all parts of the body suffer. This is why it is called “self-abuse.” The sin is terrible, and is, in fact, worse than lying or stealing. My parents loathed any form of sexual activity citing "you're too young to get mixed up with girls!!" FFS I was 18. What did I believe it was?? I didn't know it at all. Topic of conversation then and now is non-existent. I don't talk about what I do in my private time with anyone....I don't see the point to it, what does talking about it achieve?? What did you believe about masturbation as a child? No specific thoughts. What did your parents tell you about it? I asked mum as a child what masturbation meant and she told me in far too much detail. I just wanted her to clarify the word, saying "pleasuring yourself" would have been plenty. Was it a topic of discussion among you and your friends at school? Never. When did you first masturbate in front of someone? (I was 36!). Probably in my early twenties. Do you talk freely with friends (and/or family) now about masturbation? No, not unless I'm sleeping with someone.

As a child, I believed it was a sin My parents never told me anything about it It was a topic of discussion among friends at school as it was a BOYS ONLY school :P I was 19 !! Not unless I am giving a medical advice.

•I believed that it was freaking awesome! • Parents never told me anything (they probably thought I'd find out on my own) and I never asked (as indeed I did!). • It wasn't a topic of serious discussion at school (we just joked about it). • I was 34? Was up a river fishing with a girlfriend and she was nude sun-baking in the boat in front of me. I just caught her gaze and thought "why the hell not!". She just watched me then asked "can you do that again?" and when I did, to my surprise, she did the same in return. Our eyes locked the whole time and we did not speak.
