The flirtatious misapprehension....

August 03 2014

Ok..so I just spent the weekend in Melbourne with my brother and his lovely girlfriend to help move some furniture out of storage to disperse amongst some of our family members.... We arrive at 9am to pick up the trailer from said self storage facility....the lady in the office says we need to have the trailer back by 2:30pm .... Easy enough.... But I couldn't help it...I asked "are you going to be gone if we don't get back by then??" "Well no, but I have to be here until you bring the trailer back.." She replies. "Ok...cool...so if we were back at 6 you'd still be here??" I clarify... "Yes...I'd have to be." "Ok cool....so that would mean IF we were, I could bring dinner, and use the candle app on the phone right and we could do dinner for that right??" "Such the romantic aren't you??" She asks... Right about then....it's suggested by my love brothers partner that I should stop flirting with people..... Lol wtf?? It's compensation for staying back I thought??? Your views folks on this.....was I flirting or was I just being nice??? - Posted from rhpmobile

Does anyone see the use of a candle app on ones phone a mockery of romance??? Cos bugger me I'd have thought - if it were reversed - that they were taking the piss. Had it been real candles I could understand the misapprehension.... But the context changes completely when it's a fake candle and therefore inferring the level of "specialness." I mean honestly are people THAT easy to please that they'd accept a mockery of a situation as interest???? - Posted from rhpmobile

would that candle app be enough to light up the two meat pies and goon? If yes Id say that would enhance the level of "speshulness" to legendary.

U say..."Its compensation for staying back",,,,,, Oh, I see....So the poor woman should feel grateful to wait an extra 4 hours, twiddling her thumbs, whilst YOU get trailer hire beyond the normal fees... And "Candles make a mockery of the intimacy.." .... Thus implying that if the office woman was stupid enough to fall for your pathetic attempts at flirtation, she deserves all she gets.... "I am a walking penis, after all.." ( or words to that affect). Leads me to the assumption that you have an arrogant demeanor, consider women to be stupid, and are so sure of yr false male sexuality, that you believe any woman will give up her feminine sensibilities in order to eat a cheap take out dinner, with you n reperation... I sincerely hope that she laughed at loud, and said..." You will be charged double, for every hour you are late, after 3 hours you cop an extra 25%,,,,,Oh, and thanks for the invite, but I don't like cheap takeaways." - Posted from rhpmobile

Even if it is not actually romantic, it is still a flirt to stimulate the opposite sex. After all, I (f) doubt you would have said the same to a male office person ;)

A joke could be seen in the situation.. intention is behind flirting, if she couldnt see intention behind the joking then thats where is stays, hence the murkiness of flirting vs friendliness, no wonder all those dating books

I once attended my Cousin's Buck"s turn, we had a comedian with a puppet & an Asian stripper, she had some good tricks, 1 was, she laid on the floor & had a lit candle in her V'jay, jay (Oprah Speak),with hot wax dripping on her bum, I pulled out a cigarette & asked permission, she & the guy with the gun in the holster ok'd it, the boy's loved. Fast fwd to the reception, I'm a nervous 2IC giving a speech about bridesmaid's or something, someone yell's out "tell em' how you lit your smokes on the buck's nite", I replied it bring's new meaning to the word's "candlelit dinner", the house erupted, all the chick's intensely Q'd there men, nobody broke rank's, "what happen's on camp, stay's on camp". Just another ridiculous story from the past. P.L.

Just being nice would be having the trailer back at 2pm not 2.30pm The flirting was not the candle ap that just made it romantic the flirting Was you bringing the dinner and having it with her. Flirting can brighten a persons day, boost self esteem and maybe even get you a date so make the world a better place and flirt

Is like bluffing when playing poker, an excellent tool when used sparingly. I'm afraid I miss flirting, it was part of the art of seduction, the thrill of the chase. As I said in another post, when I was a kid it went on all the time btwn adults, and everybody seemed enjoy it. Enter Germaine Greer, she ruined that game forever, I think deep down 30yrs on a lot of ladies would admit her intentions were good, but the end outcome wasn't the greatest. Flirting & Sexual harassment are 2 totally different things, 1 is a bit of fun & can lead to good friendships etc. The 2nd is when the attention is "unwanted". Unfortunately a lot of guys these days don't risk the "flirt" in case it gets misconstrude as "SH". I never do it unless I know the lady has a sense of humour. I went the pyhsio once, they normally have the bill ready before you come back to reception, as I walked up to the desk, Sue looked up & said, "I haven't done you yet", she started to blush, I paused & said "No you haven't yet", we just laughed. Now I'm single, I think I will ask her out. Who know's what may happen, at least I know she has a GSOH. P.L.

It would be my pleasure & it would make my week, I don't know you on here, but I would sense your personality when I waled in. Cheers P.L.
