The dangers of clinical trials

August 19 2010

I've been short on money lately, just a culmination of a couple of things. I took this lovely girl to a drive in theatre and the customer service was horrid, the sound quality terrible and for a final straw the seats were crap. I got square with them though I slashed the seats before driving away. Well 800 dollars later I have new car seats and then I was driving to the local court house to pay a parking ticket I had picked up when I was staying up in Brisbane, well on the way I happened to notice (or atleast I thought) someone I knew walking the opposite direction and I looked out the window to be sure and ended up swerving into the incoming traffic right into the path of a cop coming the other way. Well he was actually really understanding and after he submitted me to a sobriety test and we were just chatting about how stupid... (I'll accept it was stupid)I was and that if I had been caught drink driving I'd have ended up in the lock house. Well curiosity got the better of me and I asked him if he breathalyser could detect anything other then alcohol. The nice police man was asking me what sort of things, I mentioned to him that I'd heard that they could detect illicit drugs and I was surprised it hadn't registered my recent coke hit. The nice policeman explained to me that he had a separate machine that could detect coke and acid. I think it had to be more then a coincidence that I just happened to have some stuffed into the spare wheel of my car and when I offered to test the theory with him well he didn't seem to appreciate the field test. There I was trying to hold the communal phone in my hand without touching the sticky stuff left around the mouth piece when I called my lawyer from the local station. I'm not the sort of person who has a regular need for a lawyer so I asked if I could get a yellow pages directory and the police officer said he had a list of lawyers who could help on a probono basis given that I was not going to be able to afford a fancy barrister. He was reading the number out to me when I must have misheard him and there I was talking to some woman who wnted my credit card before offering to transfer me to a college grad who really wanted to chat to me. How was I supposed to know that if you type 034 instead of 043 you end up with an adult services line where a college grad isnt someone who is doing work experience before getting into criminal law. Well I got to see the legal aid council worker and organised an immediate trial date and I was let off on bail (which again ate into my current finances). I managed to pay my parking fine and I was headed off to the doctor finally to see about the tiredness and lethargy I've been experiencing and he offered me this clinical trial of a brand I hadn't heard of before. He said they have been around along time. Maybe you've heard of them "suppository's" sounded legit so I took them with me. I've been taking them as he instructed (twice a day before food). For a change I've not been getting the side effects I normally get. My doctor advised me that at first I would experience some discomfort and pain in my abdomen and it would feel unusual at first. I didnt experience any of this but I must say they've not helped with my symptoms. I made another appointment and went back to see my doctor. I mentioned to him about my continued symptoms and my intelligence with taking the tablets twice a day. In the end I said to him that for all the good they were doing for me I might as well have been shoving them up my ... OH ... wow I finally get it... the discomfort in my abdomen isnt a side effect from what's in the tablet soo how's your day been?
