The big wet

February 28 2013

Well, I am having to endure as many others are the wet season. they say only fools and new comers predict a wet! I am here well above cyclone 'RUSTY'' (great name) but am, on my own, running a remote business for the next two months in the Kimberley. Needless to say I am very much looking forward to getting back (not FIFO, two months running a remote business) but still I have been yet again privileged to see the most amazing thunder and lighting whilst sitting with dogs and cats (dogs shaking, cats stealing dogs food!) whilst lighting strikes and thunderous rain hammers. I am in well, well north of RUSTY, but its been great, the country needs the rain (sorry Pardoo, every bloody second year!)We live in a harsh, unforgiving, amazing country. I personally wish all of you were here.RegardsGVSeeing this just makes me think of you all and how much energy you all have and how in control you are. What dark low above you brings on YOUR BIG WET???I just want to say thanks. A big smile from a wet place. May your place be just as wet or wetter for much better reasons. (I think I should have mentioned this earlier, I wish I was in town believe me!)

I love the sound of rain on the roof, the iridescent green of the trees and other plants. I even love the contrast between the light of the sun and the deep greys of the heavy rain clouds. The weather we've experienced on the Sunshine Coast the last few weeks has brought my poor basil plant back from the brink of death, so I'm happy with that. What I'm not so happy with is all the idiots who think they can still drive like maniacs in the wet. I've driven past so many cars upside down, smashed up, stuck in ditches over the last few weeks it's not funny! Please people, for the love of life slow down and chill out when driving in wet conditions!

I have never experienced anything more harsh, unforgiving, electrifying, stunning or spiritual than our landscape north of the 26th here in WA . It is truly an amazing place and if you are ever lucky enough... experience it, not just drive through it of fly over it but feel it.

Only a little rain in the last few days other than a freak storm in the the northern suburbs....we could do with some of the big wet.

That rusty would send us some rain down here in Perth, but no, just a little bit of wind and cloudless skies. For heavens sake G V bring some back with you.
