I've been thinking about asking this sort of question, so sure hope you get some good replies. My experiences with the Mirena have been mixed... I had an extremely uncomfortable insertion and several months of discomfort as my body adjusted to it. But it has been many months since then and I now find orgasm is much easier to achieve, more powerful and more frequent... my breasts are fuller and get very tender as part of my 'cycle' though my periods are pretty well non-existant now... finally lol. All in all, I'm pretty happy with it but not looking forward to having it replaced in the future...That's about it... Hugs... Deb

Mr sexy countrycpl hereI have one... had it almost a year now and most days I love it and some I hate it ...My periods are a non-event now, sometimes when I get really upset about something I get what I guess are contractions i.e. my body trying to get rid of the IUD. I have noticed no difference in mood or sex drive, I spot occasional and every unexpectedly but really on just a few spots. Sometimes after a really big orgasm I will spot which can really suck especially when playing with a new guy and he pulls out and the condom is covered in a pinkish fluid.I have had some of the strongest orgasms of my life since it was inserted but not sure if that is to do with it or just where I am at present. I have had a few partners say they can feel the string but so what... I had mine done under no anaesthetic yet have not had kids and it hurt like bugger but was over very fast, what I remember the most was I had it done at a clinic that also it abortions and seeing the other girls who had had abortions looking very uncomfortable and thinking glad I am not in their position. I notice when I ovulate now and I also have really big stabbing pains that last a few minutes a few days before my period starts but no other period pain. But when i compare all this to all the side effects of the pill and the stress of not being on it it is the best. I have none of the major side effects I had on the pill plus I can just leave it and forget. Although it sucks when I spot on my favourite undies or some poor guys freaks out a little ( they always think they are bleeding) I would recommend it to anyone who wants to avoid getting pregnant.

I had mine inserted last May under a General and it has been fantastic - no periods what so ever and hardly any PMT. But I do spot sometime when we have sex. Have noticed that my orgasms are more powerful but my "cum" is very thick and foamy and I also squirt alot less - still do it but not flooding anymore like I used to. Pusscat xxx

If people in my family where to name their kids after failed birth control then there should be a "Pill", a "Rhythm" and a "Withdrawing" as cousins and I would also have a half brother called "She said she could not get pregnant."The Mirena is not 100% perfect but then no contraception is, however I think that is total crap about a larger man being able to get a girl with a Mirena pregnant.

Well......... what the size does is it pushes the Mirena or IUD, which is the size of a small fishing hook, out of position and the sperm can get through........ Don't take my word for it, ask people it has actually happened to!!! So beware big boys and little girls........ ;) Love Miss naughty!!! xox

Pregnancy resulting from a Mirena usually means that the device was dislodged. Rarely does this happen...maybe biggus dickus dislodged it??? :) But the added bonus to the Mirena is that it has a very low dose (like nano low dose) slow release progesterone, the mini pill, which thickens the mucus at the neck of the cervix. Love it, love it, love it! I'm onto my second one. Previous to that (when it wasn't invented) I had a copper IUD in. I nearly had to take out shares in Carefree and Libra!!! Virtually no periods now . And no babies :))) Jx

Quoting 'missnaughtyflirt' Well......... what the size does is it pushes the Mirena or IUD, which is the size of a small fishing hook, out of position and the sperm can get through........ Don't take my word for it, ask people it has actually happened to!!! So beware big boys and little girls........ ;) Love Miss naughty!!! xox Again the biggest bit of crap ... the device works many levels 1. it releases a hormone to thicken the mucus making it hard for sperm to get through2. it prevents the development of the womb lining so that it is not thick enough to become impregnated 3. the t shaped device also stops eggs and sperm making contact with the lining of the womb4. the t shaped device prevents the sperm from travelling into ovarian tubesand is some women it stops ovulation The device does have two small strings that are the size of a small fishing hook however the main part of the device is a t shaped plastic device about the size the size of your palm... well my palm which is very small. That part of the device is is inside the uterus where no penis not matter how big or small will be able to get inside. It is interesting that your sister got pregnant on the Mirena seeing the rate of pregnancy is about 0.15 out of 100 which when compared to other forms of contraception is much better. Sexy_adventures The thing that I love about the IUD is that it is just like my body is naturally not like on the pill

Quoting 'missnaughtyflirt' The other side efffects........ Apparently are gaining heappppppppppsssssss of weight in all the wrong places and getting lotsssssssssssssss of pimples ........ Once again don't take my word for it........ Google it!!! :) Love Miss naughty. xxooxx I don't need to goggle it I am living with one !! And I know that when this one is done I will get another. In fact I have actually lost weight, mostly from around my stomach the perfect place for me to lose weight. I never get pre period pimples like I did without it. Furthermore they are the same side effects that most females get off the pill. Check out the link below and listen to the pod cast called "Why are IUDs so unpopular"http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/stuff-mom-never-told-you/id304531053It is really interesting...

I too researched the mirena before choosing it. If I were to name my kids after failed birth control they would be Pill and Mini Pill. My third (which turned out to be ectopic) would have been named On Mini Pill and Still Breastfeeding. The Mirena should not cause weight gain and pimples etc. The side effects should be very minor because the hormone is released to your cervix rather than into your bloodstream like the pill does, ofcourse everyone is different and so affected differently. It is recommended that every so often (once a month) you check the mirena is still inserted properly by feeling for the strings and it is removed or replaced after 5 years. If you wish to have it removed because you are trying to conceive there is no wait time for the hormone to leave your system like there is with the pill. Again this is because it has not traveled through your bloodstream. I have had no side effects with the mirena and my period is a little bit of spotting but even that is rare. I still get breast tenderness, occassional lower back pain and emotional about a week before my period is due but it is no different to before. Andy used to be able to feel the strings and he said it could be quite uncomfortable, but you can have them shortened. He notices them less and less though and has not mentioned it for ages so I presume there is no problem or else he would have been sending off to the doc to shorten them. Check out Marie Stopes International to find out more about the mirena and if it is suited to you. xx Salina
