The Fairy Tale, the magical & the knight in shining armour

April 23 2010

sex

I saw this segment on tv this morning about lavish weddings, ppl who have spent millions on a great wedding but only to see some of them not last. It is interesting what we view or perceive as real love. Some of us have big dreams and some of us having dreams of granduer. What is real love, is it money or possesions or great sex? I read some profiles and some looking for Mr Right, or the Knight in Shining Armour, Romance.... Well, what and who is the knight in shining.... Do we really have Knights in shining armour? Haven't seen any myself...Are we imagining things. Is romance going for a drive in a horse and carriage? Does that mean in 20 yrs my Gen3 will be worthy of being classed as a classic romance experience. Did Knights travel raping and piliging? Do we live in a visual world which is purely based on experiences and what we see and feel? Hey, its my day off, im bored...just posing a thought?

Love and Romance is the fairy tale, if you ask me. Better off just being happy and always taking the better alternative.

Jules, you are right of course, Knights in shiny armour are of a forgotten time. But what they represent is still relevant. It is the ideal of the perfect gentleman, the chivalrous male who will always do the right thing in the woman's eye. I think there is no harm in women wanting that perfection in their partner, just the same as guys want certain attributes and ideals in women.Love and romance is still around, trust me on that. Trying to describe love to someone who has never experienced it is like trying to describe colour to someone who is blind. I have been lucky, I have been in love three times in my life and yes it was magical. Even the sex is better, you are more attuned to each other and it does go from simple screwing to making love and there is a gulf of difference between the two.I think a lot of people (specially here) are terrified of love and romance because that means they have to open up and be honest with someone. The have to commit to that person and they are terrified of the hurt and angst if it ends.Anyone can screw around, never commit etc but it takes guts to be true to yourself, let your feelings out and fall in love.Mooka (who dons armour now, not the shiny stuff, the bullet proof stuff lol)

mooka..what you say is so true :) I'm a big believer in love - all sorts of love. Shoulda been a hippie of the 60's! But to be perfectly honest here...I do dream in a fantastical way, of being "swept off my feet" by my knight in shining armour. It's romance and seduction...and quite frankly I want more of it :) Damn the equal opportunity carry on! It doesn't have to cost anything to be romantic - just a little bit of time and thoughtfulness. Love the one you're with, for the moment you are in :) Jx

I'm talking about the original fairy tales....the ones designed to control the masses..a bit like religion really. The whole knight in shining armour reeks of rescuing to me so doesnt hold a place in my idea of fantastical adventures of the heart. I'm with Mooka and OBS on the love and Romance debate. Demonstrations of either should not come with a price tag attached....like manners...they cost nothing but the value is priceless even on today's open market. Livin in the love shack! xx

The knights can ride on past thanks very much. I think romance is in it's death throes and seduction has taken it's place. Prefer seduction as it's more straight forward. Less frills and florals and more action and mental stimulation please. True love is unconditional. It isn't due to romance or seduction. It comes from the soul.

If I were to do it all again I would elope why rob your future for one day. Of course it would be very tasteful. Come back and then have a huge party. The guests presents are their presance. As for the rest of it you don't know. Just keep a balance. Romance is for the giver as much as the reciever that helps to keep your eyes on your partner. Random acts of romance. I've seen alotttt and you just know sometimes when guys buy flowers it to cover the cheat. So other things like experience is better. Fab

Once again I agree with you Mooka...we must be so wise...yep thats it!! Love is something that evolves. I have never felt so much in love with mr shy as i do now..and this has come with nearly 18yrs of loving, giving, sacrificing and accepting. True Love is definately there...rommance...omg yes....and yes...everyone can sleep around...true love is only experienced when one opens oneself to receive it also. kisses Mrs S xxx

If loving someone is based on a set of values like: what they do for you/how they are with you and your friends/how generous they are and such.... Then what if that person falls out of favour and breaks some of those values? Where is Love then??? I believe loving some one is: Loving all that they are AND all they are not. There's a certain complete-ness in that type of love.
