That time of month.

August 09 2012

When you are left with an unexpected complication to a meetup, such as an early/unexpected period, whats do people do? How many broken dates would be due to this particular complication.

Two words for you... Beppy sponges. Or something similiar. Google it. Always ask though, some guys don't mind, others love it when Aunt Flo is in town ... Or Beppy sponge it. ;-)

cancel. its what we did, but no longer have to...its not something to share with anyone who's not already someone you are extremely intimately acquainted with.

I just had exactly that problem....unexpected period....had to cancel a couple of dates...it just sucks...but I'm in a lot of pain too while I've got my period so it just wouldn't be enjoyable for me even if the guy doesn't mind.

Quoting 'Meeka100' dolmio grin. That is just so disgusting!!A couple of months ago I was due to have a first date / dinner with a potential FWB. We had been chatting for ages and he seemed lovely. He had cheekily suggested on the morning of said date, that if all went well he knew what he would like for dessert. I joked that it was that time of the month so he might think twice about that! And so he did, and actually cancelled our date! Nice!! :(Leah

I'm not sure why people have a problem with period sex. It does not bother me.From what I can tell, a fair few women like it too..

I'm (male) surprised that this happens as much as it does. We have been cancelled on due to that week of the month, but we have also soft swapped with our regular couple during that time as well and its was still very hot. I have always dated women who have been on the pill, and not just on the pill to prevent pregnancy but for all the other reasons that the pill can be used for. So an unexpected period was quite foreign to me before we joined the lifestyle. Is it common for women not to be on the pill (or similar)?

I have given up counting how many times I have poked my head up during oral, only to see a horrified look on her face as she is greeted by the Dolmio grin. Safe to say, I def do have my red wings.Seriously tho, if it happens soon enough, then I can understand postponing, but not outright cancelling. If one has decided to go ahead and meet someone or a couple, then why outright cancel? Take a raincheck. Its not like one suddenly realised one has a transmittable disease. A lil communication, and most people would understand and make an alternate date.

Agreed - I would have assumed a woman in a regular relationship would know when her period was about to commence and so can either, like you, do a 'soft swap' instead, do a social meet, or else just plan meets around the week. I'm generally a little stumped when I get this reason.Personally, I'm as regular as clockwork, so I'll generally plan meets on other weeks and maybe have a purely social first meet on the week itself.

It can last up to 2 and 1/2 weeks. I'll be getting a hysterectomy in 4 to 6 months.

One .. Age is not always the saving grace here .. for some of US go into menopause very late .. TWO .. The pill will only stop your monthly period if you take it continuously without taking the 7 inactive pills .. THREE .. other forms of contraception might stop or minimize your periods .. Implanon / Depo InjectionsFOUR .. BEPPY spongers are fantastic .. and suitable for all ages ..

I haven't been on the pill for about 7 years or so now... mainly because I can't be due to my high blood pressure. But I know lots of women who don't want to be on the pill if they are not in a regular relationship... and as you wear a condom when you a few partners, etc why bother with the pill? I don't know if that is the norm or not? But I wouldn't have thought it is that uncommon. Meeka xx

Well... men that are into that, I suppose that defeats the purpose of safe sex, well when it comes to Aids. Never thought of that before. Meeka xx

We have run into this issue a couple of times now. The Mrs is not like clockwork in recent times. She's been up to a 4/5 five day on either side of the expected date. Needless to say it makes it troublesome when planning dates. However, what we have done is gotten in touch with the couple we have set up a (first) date with and tell them the situation and say we are still open to meeting. Our free time is precious and if we have gone to the trouble of setting up a date then we'll do our best to keep it. We can at least meet the people and gauge whether or not we like them. Now the period gives an out if we meet and decide they aren't our cup of tea or it serves as a tension building device. Make the best out of a crappy situation. Alternatively soft swap sex can be just as hot!

Well thank you leah2601, Captain Obvious. I thank you for your input. What I meant was that you can better plan when you will get your period whilst on the pill. It seems if you are not on the pill it can come at different times. I do have a dear swinging friend who has valid reasons for not being on the pill but otherwise I figured it would be better to be on the poll as a swinger so as to have one less thing to worry about l.

People can be disappointing - you call, explain & then you suggest going out for drinks instead. You then get that hesitation & some excuse comes through not to go.We just don't bother seeing them again.

As long as you mention it prior to having sex and giving the poor guy a shock when he pulls out and sees a red cock. lol.   It generally doesn't smell as good but certainly no reason to stop having sex for me anyway.   It does have the added benefit of more lubrication and I have found that the women tend to get hornier at that time as well.

Unless I am feeling particularly horrible, I will let whomever I am meeting know and let them decide what they want to do.I use Implanon and my cycle is irregular and unreliable. Sometimes I have spotting for ten days, sometimes I 'bleed' like a stuck pig for a week. There can be anywhere between two weeks and two months inbetween cycles. Before I was using Implanon my cycle ranged from 28 days to 32 days so even then I was never 100% sure when it would start. Also once it kicked in I was often in too much pain and discomfort to do anything other than stay in bed. There are so many options now for pharmaceutical contraceptives that I imagine a lot of women no longer use the pill.Cheers,MS

Alot of people are not on the pill for numerous reasons and one of them is there is no need for the pill when the girl is sterilized. As for playing at that time of the month?? we do play together at that time but swinging at that time ummmm no we dont but then its only one week every 5 weeks so its easily sidestepped or we dont plan to swing when nearing that time.

the idea of having sex when I had my period disgusted me in the past, but a boyfriend showed me otherwise. Having sex during that time of the month is like a break-neck trip to heaven, and yes, you don't have to worry about her being wet... 'cause she already is ;p

I love having sex during my period and I prefer a partner who still loves to fuck during that time of the month. If I have my period, had a date and still didn't know his preference, I'd give him a call, tell him the situation and make it his choice. If he says he's fine with it, great then! If he says no, then I just accept it as so. If I'm horny as I always as, I'd look through my contacts and call the next guy who is open to having on red days. Problem solved.

My experience is similar, with a little extra preparation, It can be great for both parties. Not sure if it would be cool for a first time though - I think it would be better to know the person intimately before you deal with that situation

Well, I have the Mirena IUD now and don't get a period as such, but if I do have sex when I would normally have my period I get a tiny amount of spotting, but otherwise it's nothing, and the spotting isn't anywhere near enough to make me not want to have sex. As for before I got the IUD, I used to be super horny, but because of the heavy bleeding and cramps I never felt comfortable having sex. Probably the only exception was about 18 years ago a boyfriend I had was so big, that the only time sex was enjoyable was when I had my period. It did make for a messy time, but then there was always the followup sex in the shower too hehe

I take my pill continuously, so I don't get my period often, but sometimes still suffer a break-through bleeding. Unfortunately they tend to be completely unexpected, and I recently got one right in the middle of playing in a nice hotel. The guy was cool about it, but I felt bad for the maid, hehe. On a date a few days later I tried a beppy sponge for the first time, and I loved it! Added bonus: The 6-inch guy suddenly felt like 8!

I've just read Peter Criss's (KISS) boigraphy. He said one day Gene Simmons turned up to rehearsal and Paul Stanley said "Whoa! What's that smell?" To which Gene Simmons grinned, showing blood spattered teeth. When asked why he didn't clean his teeth, wash his mouth etc, Gene Simmons replied that he wanted to savour it all day.   Knew there was a reason I was never tempted to be a groupie.
