TV SWINGERS!!

March 03 2011

OMG..again the swinging scene has been featured on a TV show...this time "City Homicide". Who writes this stuff?? LOL They have no idea and unfortunately it paints a completely incorrect picture of the scene for Mr & Mrs Suburbia out there. This episode had it all... double murder, theft (ie: the $70,000 made from private parties haha), jealousy, sleaze, and on it goes!Had to laugh when a guy at the party asks the undercover female cop..."Do you want to go to the undressing room?" WTF? It's ridiculous!!Thoughts on this?

Yep, every time swinging is depicted on TV shows it's way off base. No wonder people have the wrong perception of it as being sleazy (at the very least). Unfortunately the majority of the public have their opinion (which is normally not accurate), and that's that. A couple of people that I've spoken to about it are quite shocked and a bit disbelieving when I explain that there are great clubs out there that are like normal night clubs, except better without all of the aggresion and bad drunken behaviour, that also have the option of meeting like minded people. Normal night clubs in my opinion are so much more sleazy with dipshit patrons. Likewise whilst our relationship might be seen as being terrible in that we want to have sex with other people, we see couples together that are clearly unhappy, resentful and plodding through life with their eyes wide shut....setting themselves up for regrets later on in life. I think a lot of people wish they could give it a go but would never admit it because of fear of the unknown and what is partially known is normally what is seen on TV, which is so far from the truth you can't help but laugh. I have to say we're guilty in a way of not supporting the lifestyle by keeping it hidden from the majority of people in our life...but that's a personal choice we make to avoid causing issues with close minded people. We're slowly telling more people, but there will always be a line (mainly for work) unfortunately. I would love to be completely and 100% open and honest about it, and talk to people about it so it is better understood. At least those of us involved in the lifestyle in whatever capacity understand exactly what it's about....I can't help but feel sorry for the close minded, judgemental people that are missing out. Sex makes the world go round:-) Alina

I admit before i joined here it seemed like such a 'taboo' kinda thing, but chatting to real couples and learning what it's all about has really opened my eyes, i really think that a happy swinging couple is probably stronger than the average two people... . shame that it portrays it in such a negative light. on the upside tho, your new profile pic is rockin', Donna_Brett! xx Sarah

When the media portrays any alternative sexual activity as something disgusting I get very ticked off. As long as it is safe, sane and consensual why do they have to turn it into something bad and to be avoided.Maybe it's jealousy that they cant have as much fun as we do.......?

It aired here late at night on Ten so I saw a couple of episodes - the characterizations were so stereotyped it was almost comedy. Naturally it had an undertone of morality, even had an attempted boycott by the American Family Association. Funny thing is it had less sex scenes than Home & Away lol I still haven't recovered from my mother casually mentioning during a recent Christmas visit that they were invited to a key party in the 70's. Of course she said they didnt go, but now I think about it I did have quite a few times when we were left with babysitters in the late 70's......hmmmmmmmmBrad

I think the swingers here are just jealous because their scene is so mundane. It was on TV - how could you possibly think it isn't true?

We liked that episode, especially the two detectives uncover at swingers party and the lady detective being hit on, her work partner the male detective looked like he was getting into it. Then she spoilt all the fun for him and took him away. No work perks for him.....lol Still smiling! Brilliant! Dont think it will stop anyone considering swinging if anythink might just spark the imagination of a few to try. No one believes those types of shows do they? They are not true stories. Was highly entertaining!

Apparently most aspects of life portrayed in fictional TV shows are WAY OFF BASE!

you do have to realise that it is TV! of course things are made out to be a little bit exagerated......i bet there wasn't any slightly overweight, short, flat-footed, average looking, dark haired, unwaxed, unemployed courier to be seen anywhere!!! but hey, that's show biz! but that's why i got into swinging...for the money!

Yes, three topics to be avoided at the dinner table Sex, Religion & Politics..............hard to get agreement on any of these.......People tend to fear things they know nothing about and when they know little it is usually gossip.........Most matters of "non-vanilla" sexual nature are by society viewed in an unfavorable light.....most of this appears to be brought about through intrinsic Christian valuesJMOLets

Maybe we should approach the TV stations to do a hands on show on how it really works......I think we'd know after 7 yrs running one & 18yrs in the scene. What do u think.
