Sydney as a location

I am raising this as a bit of fun …

Should ‘Sydney’ (and other capital cities) be allowed as a location for a profile? Or should it be 'Sydney CBD’ and suburbs.

The argument for removing ’Sydney’ as a location is its sheer size. So if you connect with a Sydneysider you may actually be hours away from each other.

‘Sydney’ extends about 80 km from the ocean in the east to the Blue Mountains in the west, and about 80 km from the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and the Hawkesbury River in the north and north-west, to the Royal National Park and Macarthur in the south and south-west. Similarly people in regional areas often put a large regional hub as their location. e.g. Dubbo or Wagga used for people who live in that region. I do understand that; because if they live in a small country town it might ‘out’ them.

Just chucking this out there as sometimes when I travel I look up possible local profiles and so many in capital cities use the city name.

Oh and there is also the thing where you might put, say, Belmont in south Newcastle and people on the other side of the lake are tagged as close by when they are an hour's drive away.
