Sweet music

March 06 2011

OK I was thinking the other night (happens some times) about my love of music and that I don't think there is one style of music that I can't find something to love. I mean I have my faves but even in my least liked genres there'll be something that I'll really love. So have I missed a style, is there one kind of music that has absolutely nothing to offer?

I have a wide range of tastes in music from the classics to the modern stuff my kids belt out at full volume. In each and every genre there is at least a few that I will listen to. I am not particularly fond of rap...more to do with the language than anything else. However, rap has the ability to be a powerful teaching medium. Get the kids to write the words to the rap song and they will remember the lesson being taught for many many years....including boring topics like economics (which is my KLA) Never have been particularly keen on opera either and I think that may be an acquired taste as it is still going strong all these hundreds of years later. Love the look on the kids face when a "new" song is released and I already know all the words.

Do yourself a favour. Go to You Tube and put in Eva Cassidy, Songbirds. Have a glass of your fav beverage in your hand, close your eyes and listen. Voice of an angel. Does anyone else have someone that nobody has heard of that is worth mentioning. Let me know what you thought of Songbirds. Ta.

I must say her rendition of "somewhere over the rainbow" is absolutely beautiful. Cheers
