Your nan sounds like fun, Foxy! Someone told me when I was about 11 the it's good luck to put your left sock on before your right one and then your felt shoe before your right one. I'm still doing it almost 25 years later..... I guess you could extrapolate from that and say that putting your shoes on before your socks is really bad luck...plus you look like a bit of a fool. ;) I cross my fingers under my pillow when I go to sleep at night if there is something that I really really want to happen. x Me

Avoiding ladders is also a practical thing......who wants a falling painter falling into them afteral...:-) ........ I did have a black cat once but she ran away to live with the next door neighbour and our paths never crossed again:-) For some odd reason Brizvegas doesn't believe in footpaths so it's a miracle if you find a crack to avoid:-) And Foxxy too much happiness will attract a whole heap of merde.....the universe abhors an imbalance:-) :-) xxQ

If it rains on your wedding day, this is also good luck, but didn't work for me either... Second toe longer than your big toe, you're going to be wealthy, well that's bullshit lol.... Shoes on the table, bad luck. Umbrella up in the house, bad luck. Don't walk under a ladder, bad luck, black cat crossing your path, bad luck.... I believe in a lot of stuff, but superstitions is not one of them... - Posted from rhpmobile

A broom in a tree and a fork in the ground. Tried this on my wedding day and it still rained, and that didn't help either :-)) Break a mirror, seven years bad luck. I must have broken a lot in my previous life, lol. But I do believe more in karma than superstition !!

My Mum was raised by a woman unable to shift away from her own Victirian upbringing - superstitions were very much a part of that. My favourite was always that if you received a gift of something sharp, you had to 'cross their palm with copper' (usually a penny piece). Otherwise, the gift would 'cut with your life'. Even now, my Mum wouldn't give me a gift or buy me something sharp unless I could give her a penny - "but there are no pennies in Australia Mum" I cried out, and so I had to buy the damned cheese knife myself! Happy Birthday!! (that was some time ago). I have learned to console myself and live life without gift that cut....if only she knew my birthday money from her this year bought a new vibrator ☺️! She believes in this superstition absolutely. Me? Nah! I'm a little more evidence based. And that's okay with me. Kisses, Jak (Mrs) - Posted from rhpmobile

I love my nan also and had her 90 th bday not long ago and i am thank you you reminded me how i love my nan and i am going over to give her a hug:-)) But nans will always offer grandchildren hope of dreams and fantasies but lets face it nan , you carried salt around because it made bland tasty but not good for unless you throw some over your shoulder . And to find a penny pick it up , then find who lost it they have no luck .until you catch them and pass it back . And wear something old , something new something borrowed something blue?? Marriage alone will never make you happy!!! Oh and birds that shit on you bahahahahaha Your day can only but improve after that hahaha. :-)) - Posted from rhpmobile

I see it this way..... the Chinese believe the number 8 is lucky.... and that combinations of 3 are lucky..... So a number plate 888 on a car is supposed to offer high luck potential. So what if I took to that car with a chainsaw..... would that be so lucky to that car and it's owner?! lol - Posted from rhpmobile

I have always believed in Buddha, superstitions, spirits, ghosts, and black magic since I was a child. Why? I don't know, I just believe that the world/universe are so huge that anything is possible! Especially after I have heard spiritual voices twice, and still can sense non-human's existence every now and then. However, I am not addicted to believing in it. I am also a big believer in Karma, and have seen it too many times so far. For several times I had near accidents on the road, but I could always escape death due to good Karma! Why did I get good Karma? That's a whole different story :-) In my culture, the elderlys believe that couples who are 3, 6 and 9 years apart (younger or older, doesn't matter) won't have a long lasting marriage, because number 3, 6 and 9 in age are the lucky numbers in their belief. And please don't ask me why as I never have a chance to ask the people who initiated such superstition lol and my parents were 3 years apart and they had a divorce! So what can I say?! - Posted from rhpmobile

Bahahaha that's awesome. As for superstition, I never put shoes on the table. I never open umbrellas inside. I won't walk under an open ladder. To me that's common sense. But I won't overtake on a bridge. Apparently that makes me weird. - Posted from rhpmobile

I have been informed that a lot if the things I consider normal are actually superstitions. I'll let you guys decide. I never go to sleep with wet hair I won't sweep dirt out the door I have a "money tree" at my front and back door. I put the toilet lid down when I flush it (do you know how many germs fly around if you don't? ) I brush my hair 100 times every night. No more no less - Posted from rhpmobile

Ah, motown.... love ya, Stevie. Superstitions are fun, they are a kind of romanticism that adds colour to what would otherwise be a very clinical world. Which is to say, I think they are a load of cobblers. However, the science of what influences what - like the butterfly in the Amazon causing storms in Leningrad - is far too subtle for a mere mortal like me to understand... so I guess, science and superstition are about the same for us beetles. *shrug*
