It is a good point and I have to agree. Discussions do lead to tangents and then... All that said I do enjoy some fun, well meaning smart arse comments to lighten the mood. There are also times when a complete moron posts and is shot down and rightfully so. Very disappointing though when it really is an interesting topic that you would have liked to hear a lot more about. And for sure start another thread if it leads away from the original topic. Miss K

People are people, and i can understand your annoyance, but a post is like a conversation, and it can go off on all sorts of tangents! you have so many people in the forums who answer in so many different ways, so it is not unreasonable for this to happen! I am v guilty of going off topic in posts, even on my own posts, but i dont see an issue in it! it generally makes it a lot more interesting!

Yeah, it's true... OK.. I occasionally go off topic... and I recognise that going off topic is a breach of civil internet etticate.... but then I remember that science nerds invented internet etticate and roooled the internet all through teh 1980's and a good proportion of the nineties as well... and now that everyone is into it... it seems so much more liberated and less... ummmm... anal retentive.... that I really dont mind if people go off topic... Face the facts... people do that in discussions. We are not sitting at a meeting at the local Shire Council with some dude sitting out the front acting like the mayor of internet town. Here we have a free for all... with all its bad features but also the liberation of expression that draws characters out into public view to reveal themselves for who they would like to be.. who they might be.. .and sometimes who they really are. That's interesting isnt it? Far more interesting than just a list of answers responding directly to a topic that starts with "What's your fetish"... and in any case.. maybe someone really gets off on music... especially when that music is generated by a band inspired by kinky fetishes. Perhaps you didnt notice that part.. but I just thought I'd mention it.... as it does kind of tie right in... not everyone is answering as if they are responding to the Australian census... and I guess that's part of learning about who people are.... Fair cop though, I like to stay on topic. I'd rather not see every thread get hijacked. Hugs Stalky

We need more rules. I for one love how nanny-like we have become as a society... and was starting to freak out at how free and liberating this whole internet thing is. Luckily RHP has come to the rescue - no more posting events in the forums and now this spectacular bit of advice... I dont think just telling people to stay on topic is going to work. You should forward your suggestion to the moderators so they can include it in their check-list. Maybe each forum post should just have multiple choice answers to keep things on track. . If all goes well we will be able to thank you personally for sucking the very last bit of fun out of these forums.. . PS _ In case anyone is wondering, Yes - it does shit me that I wasnt the first to go off topic - well done to Mynameonurlips though!

To the OP, well said but it will never happen, unfortunately some people just have to add their own spin on things, maybe they like seeing their name and photo up on the page, I don't know. What I do know is this is exactly why I have cut down on posting in here, just got bored with every post becoming identical with the same comments by the same people on damn near every thread. You will undoubtably be in for a hard time here, but do perservere, there are actually some people who try to stay on topic.

This is what gets your goat? With everything happening in todays world...all you are worried about and get pissed off about is when people go off subject? Simple solution..don't read the posts...just read the ones that answer the topic and skip over the rest! I see you answered in the Kinky topic...so what's the problem? It may be an interesting topic to you..but obviously not too interesting to others. Its called having FUN...sheesh...you should change your nic to grumpygoat (as you have a thing for goats)!! ...just human nature. Sort of like Chinese Whispers ....as the true facts of any story can change with the more people telling it differently..sometimes not intentionally..it's just people's different opinions or way they explain things. The story at the other end can be completely different. With forum topics..it only takes one person to add their own opinion or little story..then the next person does the same to that person's post and so on...before you know it the question about whether guys like girls with big or small nipples becomes a discussion on alien abductions!!! LMAO!!

But the reality of it is that the forums are just like a discussion and discusions will take a different turn every few minutes at times... it is hard to keep it on topic and infact the diversions from original topic can be both quite informative and entertaining. Wayne and Focus, I understand what both you are saying, but normally discussions will veer off at a tanget, still keeping some part of the original topic. And also normally the original question or comment is answered before changing topic right? What I understand the OP is trying to say is that all too often a thread is hijacked in the first few posts, so the original question or comment is never answered, never resolved. Now if anOP is a newbie, it can mean they just won't bother posting again simply because they never get the answer. Look sometimes a new thread can withstand the onslaught and maintain general focus for quite a while. That normally depends upon the topic and the OP of the thread, if he or she tries to maintain the threads integrity. I am all for fun here in the forums, hell I have participated in enough laughs here to keep me amused. But sometimes a new thread will come along, an interesting one that warrants decent discussion but in the end it just ends up like every other post here. Bit sad really. Oh Focus, what smile, I just got called a grumpy old fart for sticking up for the OP here lol
