Oh Mrs Pup is the luckiest woman alive that I pretty much hate following any sport with a passion - the amount of time spent by the average punter is just too much of a waste for me. But, I've always thought soccer/football is the greatest team sport of them all due to the skill and game play BUT it has to be played by two good teams and sadly the Aussie boys let us down. Oh and a little less falling over and milking free kicks would make these "atheletes" seem a little less pansy!

I was watching an earlier game of Soccer last night and to say the noise was irritating is an understandment. My daughter was in another room with her friend when she jumped up and said "What is that bloody noise"? I said to her that it sound like they have blowflies stuck in the microphone...lol...she thought I said butterflies and looked at me stupidly... The noise got to me so much that I ended up watching Blazing Saddles....classic!! All that is left to say now is GO ITALIA!!! xFunlovingx

I agree esp if it turns out to be a draw then you've wasted 90 minutes of your time much prefer AFL or baksetball.

If one has to watch men chasing balls around a perfectly good paddock then make my men socceroos. There is skill in the game, unlike rugby league..all crash bang oops...killed another three thousand brain cells in the last tackle....no matter....there wasnt many to start with.... Aussie rules....oooo now theres a game for the committed voyeur... they really know how to fill out their SHORT shorts...mm...tasty..!

Quoting 'Polar_Bear_Girl' on all counts - I stayed up all night for this! Cahill's send off was pretty bloody harsh but we sucked before then anyway did they suck or is that just relative to a team that is a genuine contender for the cup? I fell asleep and didn't watch it - I'm sure the Aussie boys are excellent players, but Germany is a tough team - weren't they?

I'm not into sport but if forced I'd MUCH rather watch 'soccer' than AFL, I know people moan about low scores (or draws) but at least there seems to be skill involved.

Something wasn't right with the socceroos game plan and we just weren't defending well... the first few minutes we looked OK... then downhill.

realistically would we have beaten them? tournament coaching is so very different to regular league situations where players get to rest, and you can afford to attack every game with everything you have. In tournament play if you won't win, you're better off holding back - giving your juniors the playing time they wouldn't otherwise get, while your key players are rested for the games that'll get you through to the next round. Playing 1 player down can't have been easy either.Anyway, interesting to see what they do next game.

Agree with Jengirl. Football has more skill than AFL. the players have to work harder for their successes, unlike AFL where every single thing is celebrate (oh look he caught the ball, everyone stop). AFL lacks the brains of rugby and the skill of soccer. Plus AFL stars have assymetrical joggers physiques.

lolz Sydneylad... I love watching the german team play... sensational skills. Winning or losing was never the point of watching... but they need a horn filter.... they need a squad of bouncers ready to run out onto the field and king hit anyone who fakes a fall... and they need to shove those fuken horns the spectators are blowing up their arses. hehe Hugs Stalky Quoting 'sydneyboy3au'realistically would we have beaten them? tournament coaching is so very different to regular league situations where players get to rest, and you can afford to attack every game with everything you have. I was born in S Africa, lived there for 50 years and never heard the word 'vuvuzela ' even tho I could speak the 4 main indigenous languages fluently. This is an invention of the New S Africa which could've been effective, funny, good, interesting or whatever if it was used in small bursts when there was a hilite like a goal, but to use that drone constantly can only appeal to the small minded I think. Can you imagine being a spectator in the crowd with an idiot blowing the horn in your ears for the duration of the game. It reminds me of Andy's kit when he went to the 'football' in the Andy Capp cartoons. Lol. I don't think its going to go down well with visitors from Europe. After about 15 minutes of the opening game I turned the TV off and I wont watch the world cup series at all because of the vuvuzela

22 ( ok, maybe 20 ) pairs of muscular legs running around the field for 90 minutes and you're BORED ? You really have a different idea of 'entertainment' eh, Mr. Stalky :) Maybe you'll even get bored of playing with us in the bed after 10 minutes too :(

Quoting 'MrsPeachypear' Kudos to the availability of background noise filters being a standard feature in the very near future lolol... I found this on the RHP's twitter page!.... Hugs... Mrs P' World Cup Hack: A Simple Fix to Eliminate That Annoying Vuvuzela Drone BY Dan NosowitzMon Jun 14, 2010 This year's World Cup got off to an exciting start, at least for my native USA (we totally didn't lose!). But all the fun of watching a Cup match is tempered by that grating, stab-your-ears-with-a-pencil drone of the vuvuzela, that giant red plastic horn. The vuvuzela's drone seems stronger this year than ever before, and there have been a few offered fixes to the problem. The best way to filter out the vuvuzela is through equalizer settings. The vuvuzela's tone is a Bb, which in an EQ translates to a primary tone at 233Hz and secondary harmonic tones at 466Hz, 932Hz, and 1864Hz. Since we're not concerned with getting the full spectrum of sound (this isn't music--we're just trying to get field noise and announcers), you can safely eliminate those bands and still enjoy the game--hopefully sans vuvuzela. PopSci shows off a DIY software filter that you plug into your TV to get rid of the offending bands, and Book of Joe shows that certain TVs have a custom EQ built in. But really, this should extend to any decent stereo, which should have some sort of EQ. All you have to do is lower those specific bands to zero, and the tone of the vuvuzela should be scaled way down as well. You can also crank the other bands higher for a more dramatic change, if it doesn't seem to be working. If you don't have those specific bands on your EQ (it has to be a pretty detailed EQ to have 233Hz--mine skips right from 125Hz to 250Hz), you might be out of luck. But many newer digital amplifiers and receivers have that sort of detailed equalizer, and it's certainly worth a try.

football was like the (g)a(y)fl ehStrikers would get a goal for missingEveryone could wear singletsIt could like like pure unadulterated messIt could look like the retarded lovechild of irish football, which is chromosome deficient at bestIt could have a world cup that was rotated between melbourne, geelong and adelaideThey could hair pull, punch in the wrist and blindside blokes before some melbournian spastic on radio called them `tough'We can all but marvel at how Comrade Vlad f the AFL awards the hosting rights to the AFL World CupWe would rather insert vuvezelas sideways up our arses, without lube, than watch a game of AFLThe only sport in the world where its 2 highest paid players have never played a game in angerUttery fucking laughable

I think it is a realy clear sign of a stupifying enterprise when the highlight of the whole Football Tournament looks like being some fat ancient old Argentinian guy running naked through the streets of Buenos Aires. HUgs Stalky
