Sluts and whores - a male or female insult?

August 26 2013

This thread is very much inspired by the delightful Lady T and a conversation last week with my best friend. It is not intended to be a dig at either sex and hopefully it won't become a slanging match.....to the topic.....Lady T commented that women who like sex are often labelled as sluts and whores. My best friend and I discussed whether it is more men or women who use those labels in a perforation sense. Anecdotally, I have not heard a man use either term as a put down for years (not that I can remember) although I am sure it happens. On the other hand, I have heard quite a lot of women describe another woman as a slut or a whore purely as an insult. I am curious as to the RHP members views, both the forum regulars and any noobs :). I am meaning the use of these words as a put down or insult and not for instance in a bit of a roleplay or some other consensual and enjoyed experience. Looking forward to hearing from you all.

justforfunisall: I generally agree with your sentiment that the term slut, and negative judgement around promiscuous behavior in general is primarily something that women do to other woman. When I hear men use the term slut it is usually just to be generally offensive and get a rise out of a woman because he knows it's a word that will cut deep, not because he's actually passing judgement on her sexual behavior. It's kind of like calling someone a cunt, guys say it because it is a taboo word that offends people, it actually has nothing to do with how they feel about vaginas. On a tangentially related topic, it annoys me the way that people think that being judged negatively for your sexual behavior is something unique to women. The whole "He's a stud, she's a slut" argument completely ignores terms like "Creep", "Dirty old man" or even "Player" (in the sense of a guy who is dishonest to get sex and then moves on). Guys are regularly and heavily denigrated for unwelcome sexual behavior.

Perforation sense should read pejorative sense!

I prefer the term 'man whore' Thanks Deuce ;-) They're just words, and context dictates how the word is accepted, or not. DG

For me a slut is someone who lies and cheats to get sex. It is a derogatory term so I use it as such (v rarely). And I only really use it in a female context. For guy I have a different term - "cunt" (another word I use sparingly). A love for sex should be encouraged as long as the persons morals and motifs are in check. It is a shame many women oppress their sexuality simply because of the fear of being labelled a slut. Happens a lot in my age bracket. - Posted from rhpmobile

I was talking to a guy not so long ago and we got on the topics of prostitutes....well out he comes with well their doing it for the money not like the slut down the pub/club who just wants a fuck. And I thought well what do you think of me then?? Guys use it in reference to a womans sexuality...and maybe some of you dont but its still very very common for men these days to associate women who look for sex as sluts.

this is a common topic here, and always the responses are interesting. To answer the question, is it mainly men or women who label other women as sluts, both I would think......for different reasons perhaps, but sexually adventurous women are still viewed in a negative way, whereas sexually adventurous men may be called ''players'' or ''bad boys''....hardly the same connotations applying as ''slut''or ''whore'' or ''skanky ho''. I have never been called a slut,in fact I have been told I am not slutty enough for RHPprobably my Miss Marple disguise

I do think that a double standard exists when it comes to older women/younger men...younger women/older men....I think it is because women are still seen as being more vulnerable and that the power differential in the later arrangements is greater than in the former.

Now..... I HAVE referred to one or two women as sluts.... But within the context of holding her by a fistful of hair, looking down straight into her glazed and lustful eyes, and calling her my dirty little fuck slut.... and it was a term of genuine endearment during her heightened sexual arousal. If I said that to her over dinner in a restaurant, she'd have every right to slap me.... because the context would not be relevant to the moment and emoptional state. Unfortunately, most guys use the words slut or whore as derogatory barbs, and often to express their egotistical fragility after the woman the thought was worthy of pursuing, rejects his advances. Sounds like plenty of me are using it as a put down. Odd that I have only really heard it used with venom by women in recent years. Perhaps I am just around the wearing kind of men to be hearing it used that way, but maybe that means I am have the right kind of male friends after all.and DG that is the only kind of context you would ever catch me using either word in as well, a context where both of us are happy with, where it may just add a bit of flavour to the moment.

no not on the plane but on the trains this guy rang his bell and then said come here slutI walked over and leaned in and pressed off the bell, the train set up was like an aircraft he said hey slut ,nice tits and as I reached over he bit my breast.I had a steel tray in my handI hit his head so hard that his false teeth shot out into his meal.when I was younger and guys called me that i would crawl away in embarrassment. Especially when I was around 13 years old.but once I got my woman`s power , and realised only lame and weak people name call, I don`t take prisoners at all.You call it, you wear the consequences.LadyT ....ninja with a steel trayunless your like DG , pull my hair back, kiss my neck and you can call me anything you like just not over the dinner table at Mc Donnalds, where all my classy dates take me

The sad truth is, everybody want's a piece of the "slut" nobody want's to date her. I also think that leads to why so many married men cheat, they don't want to be married to a slut but they sure love to play with them !

Going back a decade or two "DickHead' was in vogue for two meanings a bloke who was successful with the ladies, and the bloke who bragged about his supposed conquests, it is a bit lame but the best I can do. Strange the older I get I have no inclination to wanting to use the s word or the w word now I have no use as I celebrate being chatted up by any person of the female persuasion.

many people even today think that Mary Magdalene was a prostitute. She wasn't but in the eighth century Pope Gregory declared her to be one....church politics the reason. It wasn't until 1969 that the Catholic Church said''OOOPS we were wrong''

used for different reasons & to generate different reactions   doesn't really matter what somebody else calls so long as you're happy with yourself   oh yeah, men these days do seem to prefer marrying sluts instead of sneaking out to play with them, it's 2013 & they want their wife to be as active & as adventurous as them ;)

Once told me in his charming and charismiatic way the term slut just means a woman who is just a lover of her sexuality and sex and I agree....so when I hear this term especially amongst younger gen y's, male or female I politely pull them up and ask them so what does that make you....Bless him :-)

Having yet to meet someone whom I think the term could apply, I can't think why it would need to be used but like other phases used to put people in boxes such as BBW. This phrase is one that I accept in it's intent but doesn't give a true inclusion of the sensual beauty that comes with these women.... sorry getting side track and horney. The reality is these words I find are more about attempting to take power from or challenge one's own self worth in relation to the target of such language. To answer the discussion stream I'm lost at the intent of anyone using them given the reality that I can bring myself to use them even when discussing my ex.

Mesi, we all want to be called sensational 😃 I agree with DG about context... A gf of mine a couple of years ago... Well, we were dynamite together, I've never felt such sexual energy with anyone before or since... Yes we would be locked in the throes of passion and as we came I would be calling her my dirty little slut, and she would be calling me her slut... And it was fucking magnificent ! Nothing to do with the topic, but the problem was that I wasn't her ONLY slut... Hp xo 💌 It wasn't all hurtful, some was sensational too...

cant stand peeps that hate on sluts . Personally , I love women who looooovvvvvvvvveee sex and arnt shy about it (sluts) lol personally , I get really ,really bored with women and blokes who talk about sex like its evil and talk about slutty women like theyre the plague lol way I see it , we live Australia , a modern ,developed , open minded society . If you cant enjoy everything sexy here then were the fark can you ? lol definitely not in the middle east or india lol not without being raped then stoned to death then raped again ... im pretty happy we live in a free society and if there are religious peeps out there that want the middle ages back ,then they can relocate to india or Pakistan . That's a win win for all of us lol

Some interesting discussion nonetheless. sorry , I should of read your post more carefully . I don't know if its men or women who like to use this term , but were I work a lot of the younger guys are really prudish and seem to call every women who wears a skirt or who looks at them in the wrong way a slut . Very different to my generation . When we were that age ,we loved women and sex these days young blokes seem more interested in fashion ,makeup and cutting themselves more than they do sex lol I think its both men and women equally .

Not really sure who uses the term more, male or female, but I absolutely detest the derogatory conotation of the word. I find it disgusting that a woman who enjoys sex is somehow less noble or desireable than a man with the same outlook/success. I want my sexual equal. I will find you... I don't think people use the word much anymore.... We are all trying to be so Politically correct these days and its now encouraged that women are open and sexually liberated. Right? So used the word slut is very much frowned upon. Maybe it's the older generation that use it?

Definitely has a lot to do with context and source. It can be a powerful turn on being called a dirty little slut in the bedroom...(Aww yeah..I'm rockin the shit outta this bonk!!)And then your sister calls you a slut and tells you how ashamed she is of you...(Blubbed my eyes out)and then i get all confused n shit...anyway...would rather be a slut than the C-Bomb...
