Here's my first thread so hope I get it right.Sex dolls have come a long way since the old inflatable doll that inevitably turned up at a buck party.In 1992, a few redundant Hollywood effects guys started making high end silicone dolls to order. Using the latest technology at the time that was created within the movie production, they engineered metal skeletons to make the limbs moveable. The skin is realistic to touch. One could custom order heights, hair colour, skin colour, breast size, cock size, hair/hairless vaginas which were/are very realistic to use as was the arse and the mouth. For all intensive purposes, the doll was very lifelike and your could place your order with a photo to resemble anyone you like. They arrive in a wooden crate, dressed and seated on a chair. Use it and you could leave it in bed with the electric blanket on and the skin would be warm like a person and very skinlike to touch. Or you could place it back in the seated position in the wardrobe on its chair if your parents were coming for dinner.Price was 10,000+Roll on 20 years and the Chinese have taken over the market. Price has certainly dropped. They range from less than $1,000 and top range are $3000+.However, I have noticed in recent times (purely by accidently googling of course)that a strange change has come to the industry. With the Chinese manufacuring, the size of the dolls have reduced. Whereas previously the average height was normal western height of 5'6" or whatever you ordered, there is large market supply of small dolls. Obviously production costs come down with size. But I find the disturbing thing is the child like height and features of the dolls in the Chinese and Japanese markets.To look at some of these dolls, it is quite disturbing to see a child's body being reproduced but with large breasts and very youthful facial features. You will need to google a few doll sites to see. But getting to the crux of the thread, would you feel that production of these small dolls would encourage males to tend toward paedophilia after constant use?Interested to hear the general thoughts on the doll use overall. Interested to hear if anyone has used one. Anyone?Anyone thought about buying one? If I dont get a root soon I might put my hand up. A recent article last week in the UK Mirror states that the high end $3000 dollar sex dolls have begun replacing prostitutes in the Chinese army. So everyone. Your thoughts? VG

    Welcome to the fora.There are men who have a sexual preference for small women,it doesn't mean they are paedophiles...paedophilia is not just about sex,it's about targeting the vulnerable,power and control.The Anglican Church in Newcastle is going through an inquiry into a paedophilia ring in the clergy.One of the priests who became a Bishop targeted teenage boys who wanted to join the clergy.     I think arguing that these would turn you into a pedophile is akin to arguments that waxed pubic hair would encourage pedophilia because it is prepubescent, or that clean shaven men would do the same for the same reasons. Maybe pedos would buy a tiny flat chested version to pretend it was a kid, but I don't think that the using it would turn you that way. I also think it is different because it is coming from a different cultural background, and so I don't see it the way a person with a Chinese background might. They seem to have a different approach/obsession to youthful looks so I don't know.

    I can't help but wonder..... the people who personalise an inanimate but very lifelike substitutes for human contact....... are they de-personalising themselves? These dolls do t have to respond with consent. So, ... .. The more lifelike the doll, perhaps the higher the risk that the person who personalises an object..... could de personalise a real person to the point of non consensual sex?!!     I don't think it will increase men to liking children for sex, IMO pedophilia is a illness not a preference.I think anybody caught with a doll that represents a child should be castrated and monitored as should all sex offenders.     there was actually a programme on the box about the manufacturer of those particular dolls in the U.S. (and was repeated a few times). Can't off-hand remember the name of the company, but they did indeed have the ability to make one up to your particular liking regarding various features (although they couldn't copy exact facial features). At the time they said they wouldn't make smaller dolls, due the pedo nature that would have been perceived. I haven't heard about these newer dolls made in Asia, so can't comment about them. But if you consider that as a generalization that Asian males are a little smaller in stature than western males, I suppose it makes sense to have a market for the smaller versions. I'm pretty sure that the availability of these smaller versions would not cause paedophilia - that is more of a genetic variation within the individual, so therefore probably would already be in play anyway. And as has ben mentioned, paedophiles are predispositioned towards younger people, so a smaller adult size doll version with larger breasts and so on would probably not be to their taste in any case.     I agree with Adelaide3some (love that avatar pic btw), I doubt it would lead to paedophilia. Those dolls are amazing though. Ive seen some documentaries regarding them and some people really do fall in love with their dolls, I can kind of understand why, but personally I prefer the real thing (hmm, can I say that if I havent tried one? :p ) Anything that helps reduce abuse of people is a great thing IMO and these dolls are another tool to help that.

I can't recall the name, but as you mention, I think that they started off with film production 'extras', and then found out they could move into another line of business, seemingly quite successfully.     4 years on after the post by the very sexy hunk The_vanguard, it seems he was on the money. These dolls are now regarded as paedophillic and new federal laws now deem these as illegal.     Personally, I thought The Vanguard was treated very shoddily to just be deleted! On the topic, I have been following stories about these "love dolls", because I figure the people who want to use them would have a very different perspective that this implies an acceptance of the practice in general. I'm glad to hear there are actions and recognition of the threat in this area finally. Peachy

    Mmm... They make blow up dolls in the shapes of animals too, just saying? Does that lead to more bestiality? It's really hard to connect whether these dolls lead to more child abuse, or decreases it because the user has less need for a real child/person. If you're talking about actual violence or abuse towards another initially via the sex doll, wouldn't pure adult sex dolls also have the same effect regarding interactions between other real adults? Yes they might find child abuse material among the owners of these dolls. But it may be that existing child abusers will happen to buy these dolls, not that those that buy the dolls will begin to abuse children that otherwise would not. There is a difference between correlation and causation in evidence. It's as murky as the argument about whether video games increase actual street violence. Or whether giving people a legal place to do car drags and/or burnouts increases the likelihood of illegal street hooning as opposed to decreasing it (likewise the violent people will probably play violent video games and the street hoons will also likely turn up at the legal events).
