It's a survival instinct. We do what we do to satisfy our own needs. Even the most charitable of people do what they do for selish reasons. This isn't a bad thing. The girl may not be getting an immediate reward but there is something she is getting that makes it worth while to her.

Not sure why guys are required to always be "ready" for their woman? If you swap the genders in that story, with the girl being too tired for sex after a hard day at work, it sounds like "most" people would say "yeah, that's how it should be".Also, sometimes girls actually like giving head. They enjoy it not because "they get something in return", or "they're trying to get him to marry her then she won't ever again". Sometimes; they enjoy it.
