STI tests for sex parties

June 09 2026

Has anyone ever been to a sex party that required STI tests? How did it go? What are people's thoughts on this? Thanks, Alex.

Our view is that one is only as “clean / safe” as the last person that one had sex / unprotected sex with. For example one could have a STDI / STD test this morning, which will show all clear at the time of testing, yet one could engage in unsafe sex tonight and pick up a STI /STD. Submitting a STI cert would really not guarantee anything. We apply the precautionary principle, and that is to assume that everyone is infected / a possible risk, until such time as they have been proven to be safe.

No I haven’t but I have seen one advertised recently that said it was a bareback event and tests were required. Not sure I would be comfortable participating in one of those, even with a clear test. Bri

Sexual health screenings are great, and should be a regular part of every non monogamous lifestyle. Having said that, presenting results to someone is not very useful. As someone previously mentioned, you could have played since the screening.... Another important point is that some infections can have a incubation period of up to 3 months and won't always show on a screening yet. What's important is best practice. Having a sexual health regime that includes always practicing safer sex with condoms, personal hygiene (handwashing guys!), and regular screening. I would feel more comfortable engaging in play with someone who is highly active but has a strict safer sex regime, rather than someone less active who has 'test results' but wishes to have unprotected sex.

I feel like it's great to ask for... Though as above is probably pretty meaningless. It might put off those that haven't tested regularly or know theirs won't be clean.. though are results easily forged? .... If someone wants to bypass they probably can ... Not sure 🤷🏻‍♀️ Many things don't show immediately (don't some stds have 3-6 months gestation while still being infectious before one would even know?) also herpes will only show during an infection I think? Excuse my ignorance. Anyway.. I agree with the above sentiments. It's probably the one of the main things that turns me off clubs - though even seeing one partner, who's seeing others exposes equal risk... mentally for some reason the casualness of clubs personally doesn't scream 'sexy' for this reason.. be it a completely illogical one 😂 Nice to see you back on here Mr! Hope you and Margo are well :) Vxx

All great points, thank you everyone. There is much consideration of playing safe with condoms, which are safer, but not completely safe. But no consideration of oral transmission, which is also a significant vector for STIs. And yes a test, then playing with others exposes one to potential STI's, before getting to the party. Dax (girlfriend) and I are running a sex party, and trying to find a middle ground, where there's a great deal of STI safety. While understanding that complete safety is impossible. So we're asking for people to have recent tests... ie a week before the party. If everyone at the party has been recently tested, and everyone at the party is serious about their sexual health... then we're hoping those in attendance are comfortable to play with or without condoms, as their personal needs require. Plus unprotected oral sex of course. Side note: in the past 4 months, 2 people who were prospective play mates of friends in the lifestyle were found to have STIs. They were only tested as the friends insisted on clear tests before play. Which is to say, there's plenty of STI's action out there. Thanks, Alex.

We stay away from these so called "sex parties" as we find it unhygienic.
