Mostly I find places with water have a romance about them.   A deserted back beach on Mykonos (Greek Island) was stunning with crystal clear water and barely a ripple.   A cove just outside Dubrovnik (Croatia) with sheer cliffs and gentle waves rolling in. Small little houses built into the side of the hills with balconies peering out over the Mediterranean.   Wood fire burning in a snow covered cabin in the Adirondack Mountains on the edge of Lake Champlain in the state of New York - breathtaking.   Just a few places that stick in my mind. Hmmm....must go travelling again! So many more to discover.   SFxx

I spent nine years in Europe, while people say Paris is the ultimate romantic get away, I saw it as a tourist trap. I am more in to things because of the history. But there are nice cafe's ( for outrageous prices), and restaurants. You would have to get away from the tourist areas to find a nice one. I guess if you want to 'impress' a woman though, Paris is one because of all the hype. As far as Italy, there is lots to see and do, and Italians for the most part seem to be nicer people (other than thieves stealing women's purses in tourist crowds). Rome is really cool, but then I was stoked by all the history. The. Island of Capri is great but again, unless you take a private boat, you will be on a boat rated for two hundred people with four hundred on it, but it is still a nice cruise. Go to the 'Blue grotto' when you get there, a sea cave that makes it look like u r floating on a big blue chem light because if the water refracting the light. Lago di Garda is a large lake in northern Italy, nice. From what I have seen, Naples is just.... A dump, more rats than people. There is a small principality inside Italy (a city-state), called San Marino. Half the time you half to park 'outside' the country:) their own currency, their own stamps. Germany has a lot of nice stuff and has lots of old world charm. Rothernberg is really cool, walled midevel city. Nuremberg is also good. One place not many people know about is bamberg Germany. One thousand years old in 1976, and it wasn't bombed out during the war, famous as a hospital town and declared an 'open city' durning the war so we didn't want to bomb all the hospitals there (just outside town was one of their largest ammo dumps that we didn't even know about until after the war). Rhine river cruise, so much to do and see. Lots of nice places in the states. Lots of people like San Francisco, but the only thing that really excited me was the cable cars, Alcatraz, and the redwood forest, which is all that I really liked in a city full of old hippies, people humping mailboxes, and people pissing on the street. One REALLY cool place is the river walk in San Antonio, Texas. You eat dinner outside, and roving bands of Mexican musicians will serenade you while you eat for a five dollar tip. While new York is cool I suppose, to me it is over rated. Unless you have big bucks to take her shopping forget it, unless she likes centralmparkmor walk around on the south side of the island, the old part of new york city. I think the MAIN place for a romantic get away is NEW ORLEANS. Don't go during mardi Gras, as you will have to get a hotel fifty miles from town and get on a bus filled with drunken idiots. Bourbon street has EVERYTHING. Party spots, nice restaurants, and yes, lots of dirty sleazy strip clubs, but you are not accosted (generally) by women trying to pull you in or the hookers if they see you with a woman. The French quarter is just beautiful to walk around and check out. Get you a map and take your woman for a walk of hire a horse and carriage. I have 'been around' I guess you would say, especially Germany, Italy, and to some extent France and Spain, so if you do need help in nailing something down, let me know. I almost forgot, a DIFFERENT place is tangier, morocco. New world and old world wrapped in to one. You have eight year old kids that try to sell you cheap crap, and can switch from about four differents languages until they figure out where you are from. The old medina, lots of shops to dig around in, moroccan restaurants with belly dancers (not good looking but they know how to shake what they got,,you just have to overlook the missing teeth), and while the food seems good, I ate or drank something that ripped me apart and was sick for two days. No one else in our group got sick. Anyway, keep in touch if you need any more info:)

Sorry about the typos, working on an iPad, and my fingers are too damn big for these little type keys, and it will auto-correct just when I go to send it.

Cinque Terre, Italy. Walking through hills dotted with olive groves and orchards, high above the sea looking down at stunning turquoise waters. Approaching each of the 5 towns and their rustic Tuscan-style buildings. Gathering supplies for lunch and eating it anti-pasto style by the ocean. Diving in to cool off and looking back up from the water to the beautiful vista of the town. Taking a moment to treasure the stunning world we live in.

I am clearly in the minority. I'll take a chalet in the Swiss summer or a villa with views in Ibiza over Tuscany any day... armed with Italian liquors though.

I have a few favourite romantic destinations. Cinque Terre, already mentioned. Sunshine and water is a must (though a log fire in a cabin in the snow comes a very close second!). A private tropical villa with an infinity pool. Lots of naked swimming and lounging by the pool. Room service. Decadence. I remember a night in a paddock in Perth, wide open spaces, staring up at the stars. And sleeping in a beach one balmy night. There's an ocean pool I like to go to, at the bottom of a cliff. It's always sexy skinny dipping there of a night, but sooo romantic with the right company :)

I'm assuming because I placed a link my post was removed, or the moderator doesn't like Qld My idea of a romantic getaway would be The Mouse's House in Qld - Noticed it about 10yrs ago but am yet to head there myself. Karijini Eco Retreat is also nice. Something about being stuck in the middle of no where with little light pollution leaving the sky to be in all its glory, no phone reception and hardly no one around appeals highly to me.My overseas choice would be Banff, Canada. Actually pretty much anywhere in Canada.

Quoting 'Shinasbabe27' Whats wrong with you people ?     In the rite company..Paraburdoo is awesome                 Fuck I crack me up !!!       I could be sitting on my couch any day with the right company! It's still my couch...nothing new there and kinda boring after a while!   Why not add some more to the occasion with a little romance and excitement of a new place too. All the new sounds and scents add to the atmosphere. Just imagine all the flirting that could be going on and exploring under the blanket while on route to the new place.... Sometimes its the build up and change of scene that makes the right company THAT special right company!   JMHO   SFxx
